Xbox and Sony won few awards between them, but Microsoft heavily leaned into the ad-centric nature of the show with a lot of sly inserts and big features.
With Arkane Austin no more and Lyon living for who knows how long, the superb Dishonored is in serious danger; Microsoft cannot be trusted.
I love the Dishonored series so much and really want Dishonored 3. Microsoft better not screw this up.
A renowned industry insider has suggested the rumored PlayStation May 2024 showcase featuring Silent Hill 2 could happen this week.
Bogus!
Why would Sony do that and how would this benefit them?
1) It would piss off their media partners (IGN, Gamespot, Edge, etc.) since they would have to allocate resources fast to cover the event.
2) Risk of not having great coverage or proper coverage from the various source
3) It could give the impression that they are not confident in their own stuff.
4) They would miss the chance to hype the event losing viewers and losing free marketing time.
Again I'm calling it bogus unless it's a small showcase before the big one or because they want to announce that Hellbalde 2 is also coming on PS5.
Here is a look at the new Joker Trailer. Warner Bros. Games today released a new MultiVersus trailer revealing the first look at gameplay for The Joker, who will join the roster as a playable character when the upcoming free-to-play platform fighter videogame launches on May 28th.
Well, tbh, It´s not like Sony hyped or promised anything.
But Xbox definitely had an awesome presentation with jaw dropping trailers and totally unexpected BIG announcements, like Marvel´s Blade and Kojima/Jordan Peele´s horror game, OD.
I thought it was a good show but MS just had more to show this year. It’s like when your sports team peaks at the right time.
Next years show, I suspect will be a lot more competitive.
Most games I saw & was excited for were mostly multi-plats with the exception of the PS5 exclusive Rise Of Ronin which looks like it's going to be a fun game to play. Far as XBOXs OD I have no idea what that game is supposed to be from watching the trailer nor do I like any of Jordan Peele's movies. Blade is very early in development so with no gameplay shown I can't get hyped for it.
The only questions you should be asking yourselves are these:
Did Sony lose momentum in console sales from the awards show? Being that they are releasing a newer, smaller model this winter. Will they lose game sales this holiday and Christmas? Or lost momentum from their fastest selling game on PS5 which is Spider-Man 2 being that it was nominated 7 times but not winning an award?
Did Microsoft increase console sales from the awards show? Did they increase game pass subscriptions that would be something to shout about? Is having Blade for Xbox, and possibly being exclusive, going to turn the tide in sales against Sony or Nintendo? Are any of the games they showed really going to change anything?
Lastly, did Judge kill some of the cod sales momentum this holiday by jokingly smacking that over priced, shitty and short campaign cash grab?
I know the answers already. But we'll just have to see it all play out in real time so that those click bait websites and over the top fans can see the reality and the bigger picture.
