"One of the biggest problems with RoboCop: Rogue City is it betrays the legacy of the original film. Failing to ask tough questions would be bad enough, but the game actually turns its back on the satire and cultural commentary of the original"

Explain how. It's being praised for exactly that. I think the real issue is some people not knowing what satire or social/cultural commentary is. 'Cause you gotta be kidding. This game is oozing it, aside from being one of the best Movie-based games ever.

ZeekQuattro190d ago

As someone who watched Robocop 1 & 2 dozens of times this game is a dream come true. I enjoy this game even more than I did Terminator Resistance. Anyway It sounds like the game sold well enough despite critics so like Resistance I hope Rogue City gets story DLC at some point in the future

isarai190d ago

Yeah I don't get the article either, it's like they never actually played it and guessed very wrong about it's execution. I loved the RoboCop films as a kid, this game is so faithful it's actually insane.

Dagexon189d ago

Just finished playing through the game the other day and also watched the original movie around the same time.

Yeah I don't know what tf they're on about in this article. It absolutely captures the satire and social commentary of the original.

No word of a lie it's my favourite game of the year so far. It's a dream come true for a Robocop fan

jznrpg190d ago

From what I’ve heard from a couple friends that bought it is that if you are fan of the 80’s movies you will most likely enjoy this game. I was 12 I believe when the first movie came out and every kid my age back then loved Robocop so I’m buying this game in the next month or so when I finish the games I’m playing. Not expecting perfection just a RoboCop game that’s funny/corny and you get to shoot stuff while clunking around as RoboCop.

I really like the look of what I've seen of this game. Will be picking it up soon for PS5. It seems like it's definitely worth It's £45 price tag.

Nacon Blames Pandemic Planning for Crowded Game Releases

From Xfire: "Is Nacon's Head of Publishing making a valid point about the industry being flooded with games, or is this just a way to justify poor performance?"

GameCritic121d ago

I think its not only that but for sure a key part of it

shinoff2183120d ago

Agreed. It definitely is part of it. There's just not much you can do about it. I'll check out the game cause it looked interesting to me and i grew up watching robocop. It's just not something I'm in a rush for, not willing to spend that much money on a fps game. 30 dollar mark is about right for me.

northpaws120d ago (Edited 120d ago )

And the problem is too many people spend money buying cosmetic stuff in free to play games instead of buying full release games.

cloganart120d ago (Edited 120d ago )

And it will only get worse I fear. While we do see all the big GaaS releases fall, the AA and Mobile GaaS that run F2P model and just rob people blind essentially. The AAA bubble is now bursting.

Hopefully this will mean medium sized releases will get bigger focus now. It's becoming impossible to meet the "Gamers want bigger worlds, bigger cinematics, bigger EVERYTHING" standards and not fall apart along the way to meet the expectations of both business needs and the customer.

jznrpg117d ago (Edited 117d ago )

I buy no cosmetics . My kids ask me for Minecraft stuff but i tell them I’ll buy them a new game or toy instead.

CobraKai120d ago

Robocop was released during a gaming period that is normally flooded with games. That October to December is when most heavy hitters release their games. I did pick Robo and loved it

jznrpg117d ago

Holiday can be a double edged sword for sure.

jznrpg117d ago (Edited 117d ago )

Pandemic does play a factor. Plus companies release games as soon as their finished. If they could hold out and time it better it would help but most companies don’t have that luxury.

I am going to buy this game soon. I have been busy and always have a backlog from years past so I don’t buy as many games day 1 as I used to but I do want to play this and will order it soon.

Teyon Wants To Work On More IPs After RoboCop: Rogue City

from eXputer "Game Director of RoboCop: Rogue City says the team wants to work on some IPs, especially after the success of Terminator and RoboCop games."

isarai128d ago

They would NAIL a Judge Dredd game 👌

banger88128d ago

I'd love to see them do a Predator game. Based on the first film, not the sequel and certainly not any of the reboots.

Popsicle126d ago (Edited 126d ago )

Predator could be incredible! Especially if based off of the first movie.

Barlos127d ago (Edited 127d ago )

Dredd. Come on now, you know you want to see it. Get Karl Urban involved. Give us the Dredd sequel we all want.

Venoxn4g126d ago

I would like Robicop vs Terminator game
