CWA Union Hails Microsoft's Activision Blizzard Deal as "Transformative"

The $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft is complete, and the CWA union is definitely among the parties who approve of this marriage.

"Under the terms of a ground-breaking, legally-binding labor neutrality agreement, Microsoft will remain neutral when Activision Blizzard employees express interest in joining a union, providing a clear path to collective bargaining for almost 10,000 workers."

Man, it's almost like Microsoft made a deal to win them over or something.

XiNatsuDragnel219d ago

Pretty much Microsoft knew they had no chance so they had to convince these folks by winning them over lol

Abriael219d ago (Edited 219d ago )

They "knew they had no chance" uh? I feel that may be just a slight exaggeration. 🤔

For someone who knew they had no chance, they always sounded pretty bullish to me.

Bobby Gigachadick is the greatest salesman in the world.

He sold Diablo 4 and Overwatch 1.3 to Xbox.

Nitrowolf2218d ago (Edited 218d ago )

I'm all for unionizing, but I hope the CWA isn't complete garbage for the gaming industry. I've was a member for about two years for a company, one of the worst (when you compare what other unions have fought for and continue fighting for) ones I've been in tbh, and I've been told from other unions workers that same, both part and part of others.

Does that change the fact of what it is?

These people are happy, but yeah Christopher stomps on their journey because he has to paint a negative about MS in his totally unbiased opinion.

Such an irrelevant comment at this point.

But b... some N4G members were saying that the ABK acquisition by MS would be bad for workers.

shinoff2183219d ago

It's still early obscure. Just wait.

thesoftware730218d ago

Ahhh, I see Shin with his magical crystals ball.

Man, y'all try so hard, these workers are celebrating and you guys have to attempt to shit on it and be pessimistic, just to shit on MS.

Let the workers have it without throwing around negative future warnings.

XiNatsuDragnel219d ago

Well wait for it you think Microsoft will change the toxic condition to keep pumping out CODs that's funny my friend.

Obscure_Observer219d ago

"Well wait for it you think Microsoft will change the toxic condition to keep pumping out CODs that's funny my friend."

It might be news to you, but Bobby Kotick will be history later this year.

Crows90218d ago (Edited 218d ago )

@obscure

It might be news to you but Bobby kotick was as higher up as you can go. Tough to see shit from up there ..it's all management that's the issue here not 1 individual.

Tacoboto218d ago

@crow Yeah, Kotick totally had zero clue what was going on and bears zero responsibly.

"As the Executive Sponsor of the ABK Employee Women’s Network and our Chief Compliance Officer, I wanted to reach out to you. I know this has been difficult for many of us. A recently filed lawsuit presented a distorted and untrue picture of our company, including factually incorrect, old, and out of context stories – some from more than a decade ago."

If you remember, that was written by Kotick, *not* their female Chief Compliance Officer.

XiNatsuDragnel218d ago

@obsecure

Bobby kotick is a part of it, Microsoft will continue it as long it makes COD and them money.

Zeref218d ago

You have no idea what you´re talking about. Kotick was the one calling the shots. He used to have the power to greenlit, deny and cancel any game as to direct it´s focus on GaaS rather than single player games, he also was enforcing horrible workplace policy which ensured toxic work environment for ABK´s employees.

Why do you think CWA union is celebrating the acquisition, genius?

Here, let me help you:

Now you´re informed.

If MS keeps to hiring contractors over direct hires, it likely will be. For consumers as well as workers.

Crows90218d ago

Huh? Who was saying that? It's bad for gamers and could be extremely bad for the industry but all that is obvious.

Sony isn't stupid....they'll have to purchase more studios...and this time...probably studios we'd all prefer stay independent...but..another awesome horrible trend set by Microsoft. They're the shit that just keeps on pushing.

Jin_Sakai218d ago

It was bad for the 10,000 workers Microsoft laid off before the acquisition.

Ps5conehead218d ago

Ms just agreed to let members vote for a union. With no obstacles that’s law anyway. But Microsoft did not promise an industry leading contract. . It’s to early to see what contract they get . If they do vote the union in.

Oh please, I don't give a crap that ABK and all it's money grabbing games are now part of MS. In fact I think they are perfect for each other! I can't wait to see what soulless, monetization centric, corporate pleasing creations they come up with together!

Hofstaderman218d ago

Another shill site article. Give it a rest we not stupid...

gold_drake218d ago (Edited 218d ago )

of course, money talks and MS has trillions of it.

im pretty sure loads of people were promised loads of cash

MEGANE218d ago

If only they tried to invest these millions on new IPs instead of depriving the competition of games the competition actually help to grow.
Only time will tell who this turns out, but the true is that 77billions later (and only god knows how many millions more they wasted since xbox introduction),MS finally has the upper hand.

Resident Evil 1 Remake To Have Slower Pace; Will Further Expand On The Game's Lore

Many details for the upcoming rumored Resident Evil 1 remake have already leaked online. Capcom appears to have huge ambitions for it.

XiNatsuDragnel21h ago

Sounds interesting I'll be interested in the second remake of re1

Cacabunga20h ago

They game cube remake was mind blowing.. another remake would be nice but i was really hoping for Code Veronica first

-Foxtrot19h ago

If it's true they are probably leading up to RE5 with the Chris vs Wesker story

RE1, CV and then RE5

Terry_B18h ago

Their REmake is still one of the best 3 video game remakes ever made.

Cacabunga18h ago

Terry

Zero was not a remake but an amazing game as well. I hope they remake that one one day with some coop play.. great great game

maelstromb14h ago

The whole Lisa Trevor side-story was an incredible addition and really fleshed out more of the lore. It could have easily felt tacked on to artificially extend the length of the game, but it felt 'right' like it should have been in there from the beginning. I'm hoping they include that in the Re-remake.

Yui_Suzumiya42m ago

Code Veronica definitely needs it the most!

Cant wait until they cut the basement section and replace it with something worse.

Becuzisaid21h ago

While I want another modern remake of 1, I think code Veronica should be first. The first re1 remake holds up amazingly well. Give CV it's due.

Scissorman21h ago

As long as the Crimson Heads are back.

Nerdmaster8h ago(Edited 8h ago)

I hope they don't. They were created mainly to justify Wesker not really dying, and they do create more tension, but they don't make much sense.
Re-reviving things that were twice dead? Why would the virus stop there and not keep reviving them forever (until the head gets destroyed)?
And also the characters knowing that destroying their heads keep them from becoming crimson heads, while having a combat knife and lots of heavy objects around to do it while they're down, but having to rely on lucky shots or burning them with oil?
They can create other stuff that serves the same purpose of creating tension but that makes more sense.
