Again same shit different year.

JackBNimble276d ago

With the couple tweaks it would be a better patch for nhl23.
No justification for a new game

It's kind of funny to think that games that are live service games shouldn't be, but then you get sports games where I can see a good case for that, but they won't do it...?

Yi-Long275d ago

I think there are a lot of gamers who don’t particularly care about NHL as in the licenses and everything, but just want the old-skool top-down gameplay that the classic 16-bit NHL games had.

So many of my friends never watched ice-hockey on TV, we didn’t know any of the big players back then (apart from Gretzky, I guess), but we played and loved these games on Genesis/SNES, simply because the gameplay was there; easy to pick up, difficult to master, and it just becomes one of those perfect little sports-games. Like Sensible Soccer, Rocket League, etc.

I think if a talented indie-dev picks up this premise of old-school NHL, doesn’t need licenses, but just needs the gameplay, and nice presentation, it could/would be a huge hit.

I miss the ps3/360 days of NHL, the innovation in that generation was amazing. I also miss the old school EASHL where you actually got to level your character up and not choose from player classes.
On that note I do believe and indie dev would do good I know a couple of games on steam that are really fun arcade Hockey games.

Like when Visual Concepts was making the 2K series? The only thing that got me with NHL 07 vs the 2K series was the skill stick (NHL07) vs standard controls (2K7) but looking back on it, 2K made the better product in every other way. Even NHL 07 on the original Xbox didn't have the skill stick

How are they just discovering this now? Why aren't they sitting down and saying: "Alright, we've been doing the same crap every year. We've giving them incremental upgrades and charging $80/yr. Don't you think it's finally time to say: 'what makes hockey, hockey' and finally build up and full fleshed game that's hockey? I almost feel like sports games at this point should be given the Destiny 2 treatment. Where gamers are given just a little more every year instead of a new game, it feels like they need to be going free 2 play. If you wanna distribute your bull crap loot boxes under the guise of a pack of cards...... Whatever, but I think it's time to start going free 2 play with sports games. No model these days fits sports games better than the free 2 play. It's time. Either that, or start letting some competition back in the ring. Let Visual Concepts and Sony San Diego back in the game. This incremental yearly upgrades at the cost of a new PS5 game or $10 less for the PS4 version when you can't buy the PS5 version and play it on the PS4, that's stupid! We're in the digital era, morons! How are gamers still okay with this? With a simple 2GB software update, you have the newest version of the game but you're paying $59.99 (PS4) and $69.99 (PS5) minimum for a minor upgrade, that's pretty lame

Si-Fly34d ago

No idea why you got downvotes! Can’t wait for it although I’m gonna have to buy it to play on my Deck.

Asplundh34d ago

Because Obscure is disliked by a lot of Sony fans, they see his comments and give him an instant down vote.

MrNinosan34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

@Asplundh
He's also disliked by more healthy Xbox fans.
Just like I dislike some of the extreme Sony fans on this site.

Amazing add to GamePass anywyas.
Sucks I really want my trophies, but will probably end up with both Platinum and 1000GS on this one.

Been waiting since the last Suikoden for a new game from the team 💓

MrNinosan34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

Why can't Playstation grab those ones aswell.
Amazing to see that Eiyuden Rising on gamepass got followed up by this ❤️

Profchaos34d ago

They probably could but they seem to go for older bigger name games from what I've noticed gamepass feels like a indie showcase while PS plus is more likely to be games from Ubisoft or EA that are 2 years plus Old which isn't a bad thing

LabRat34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

@Profchaos what? gamepass has almost all of the EA games (thnx to EA play) plus ubi titles (assassins creeds origins, odyssey, valhalla, farcry 5, 6, rainbow six, watchdogs etc.... not sure why you think PS gets EA and ubisoft games while xbox gets mainly indies.

solideagle33d ago

because they would like to sell on at least 1 platform? and which platform has higher install base?

Barlos34d ago

Yay, more games for you to rent! Do you never buy anything?

Obscure_Observer34d ago

"Yay, more games for you to rent! Do you never buy anything?"

I buy a lot of games. Just don´t waste my time bragging about it like some weirdo insecure idiot.

My latest acquisitions were day one Dragon´s Dogma II, Prince of Persia and The Awaked King for Remnant II which I´m still playing to this day.

I have a lot of games in my backlog which I paid for day one and never played. That´s some of the reasons why I don´t have a PS5 yet. To many games to play, little time to enjoy them.

To be a family man, comes with a price. It is what it is.

Obscure

To be a family man, comes with a price

Ain't that the truth

Elda34d ago

Nothing of interest for me. I'm still playing Persona 3:Reload through GP.

Review - The condition NHL 24 is in right now makes it feel like a beta test for a full release that is months off; extremely disappointing.
