“..Motion Blur, Film Grain, Chromatic Aberration”

Name three things I’ll turn off.

Tacoboto277d ago

Chromatic Aberration is the biggest wtf graphical setting I'll never understand. It's like you want to make your image quality objectively worse...

P_Bomb277d ago

I know right? I knew it couldn’t be just me!

AmUnRa277d ago (Edited 277d ago )

When you read the text you can ajust (ore turn it off) for Cromatic Aberration, Motion Blur and Film Grain....so not a biggy, they are options to that you can change does effects. By the way..dont like does effects neither.....

jznrpg276d ago (Edited 276d ago )

Many millions of people who will play this game so I’m sure m some will like it for whatever reasons. We all see the world differently and have different tastes. I wouldn’t turn on things that hampered performance unless the trade off was worth it but some people like different things. Options are good even if we don’t like them somebody will .

crazyCoconuts276d ago

Not for me either but I think there is some psychological sense of satisfaction for some people to feel like they're watching a movie. Lens flare, film grain, etc. feeds into that. As proof that there's something there, if you watch a movie mastered at a higher frame rate, or watch it on a TV that does frame interpolation, something feels "off". It's a weird thing for sure, but I prefer the crystal clean image myself

REDGUM276d ago

same goes for Motion Blur. I've never understood that one either.

CobraKai276d ago

More like chromatic abhorration am i right?

So looks as though a lot of us turn all these off, I thought I was a loner out there!

This is the first thing I do before I start any game.

darthv72276d ago

I'll be using performance mode. Gotta have that smooth 60fps action.

Battlestar23276d ago (Edited 276d ago )

wccftech made a mistake the visual modes details mentioned on insider-gaming.com are not for Spider-Man 2 but for Spider-Man Remastered before it launched and doesn't include the modes that were added after launch.

From the insider-gaming.com article here 'As mentioned, the new features will build off the accessibility improvements in previous titles, which for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered include:

Visual
Graphics Mode Options
Fidelity – 30FPS with graphical features like raytracing enhanced lighting and additional VFX. Temporal techniques provide an extra-high-quality picture from a 4K-resolution base.
Performance – 60 FPS without the extra graphical features in Fidelity Mode. Temporal techniques provide a 4K picture from a lower-resolution base.'

^the above is for Spider-Man Remastered not Spider-Man 2.

moomoo319276d ago

They updated the story to say it’s inaccurate FYI. Settings were from spidey remastered.

BaughJaughs276d ago

So why hasn’t the article been removed. Oh, they could still get some clicks

With so many PS5 exclusives to choose from, it can be a little overwhelming to pick which one to play. PlayStation is killing it with the exclusives this year. Exclusive wise, what has xbox released this year?

VersusDMC34d ago

They won't complain about Microsoft not releasing games here but put all their effort into saying that only first party counts. Games like Rebirth and Grandblue Relink don't count. Games published by Sony like Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin don't count because Sony don't own the studios.

It's some narrative building so for when Hellblade 2 come out they can say, seemingly without shame, that Microsoft is actually releasing first party games this year. And claim victory.🙃

Chevalier34d ago

Weird 1st party games didn't matter when Xbox had so little, but, now they're important again? Guess Ark 3, Stalker 2 don't count any more?

KyRo34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

ARK 3 doesn't exist and it's just a timed exclusive. It's also a game that a majority of the ARK player base doesn't want as it's a massive deviation from what people like about the original game

Abnor_Mal34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

Honestly to me it doesn’t matter what they say, they are just finally getting a chance to say all the things PS fan(boy)s were saying to them for the past few years. Let them get that, they deserve a “win” for a change.

The new narrative is that suddenly first party games matter again when awhile ago they didn’t, but that was because they were struggling with the same three games with the occasional fourth or fifth. That games should be everywhere on all platforms since that’s whats happening to theirs. The consoles don’t matter just the ability to play anywhere. Whatever Xbox is doing Sony will soon follow.

They’re not moving the goalpost anymore, but rather just moving the whole damn stadium.

jwillj2k434d ago

Only a incel would care about who published what and who owns who.

If it’s not on the other consoles it’s an exclusive.

Killing what? Where are the 1st party games??
Stellar Blade and FF7 is what I’m seeing this year.. so shallow!!!!

andy8534d ago

Doesn't really matter as long as they're great games. Baffles me why people put an emphasis on 1st party. They're still games you can't play anywhere else this year

Cacabunga33d ago

Andy

PS brand is my favorite because of their stellar first party software.. currently I see absolutely nothing to go crazy for..

CS733d ago

Nonsense.

PS1 and PS2 was built on great third party exclusives like FF, MGS, GTA & Tekken.

Of course I love the games I’ve played from PS but I don’t believe we need to limit it to ‘exclusive’ to acknowledge that Xbox will be releasing some good games this year also. In that same vein, I believe that Xbox diehards shouldn’t limit their acknowledgment of good PS games to 1st party. There are plenty of good games to go around for everybody.

Tacoboto33d ago

This is a Playstation article about Playstation games and your comment is about Xbox. Can't you just celebrate what PS has without dragging this into console war BS?

ChasterMies33d ago

I don’t think Microsoft is releasing games exclusively on Xbox anymore. They have some timed exclusives that release on Xbox first.

Abear2133d ago (Edited 33d ago )

Returnal, Astro Bot, and Ratchet made having it since day one worth it.

GT7 free updates and Spiderman 2 and others at 60fps have made this last year more than okay.

But yeah, it’s been dry lately. BG3 and third party have made great filler, but we ready for that SOCOM or Killzone announcement and some more 1st party goodness. Crossing fingers for Ghost of Tsushima 2 announcement this summer.

Didn’t know Helldivers was exclusive! Wtf is going on at Xbox that they can’t get these games, series s strikes again.

SonyStyled33d ago (Edited 33d ago )

Sony owns the Helldivers IP. The first was a PS3/Vita/PC game. It was never an Xbox game that they could ‘get’ a decade ago. I’m not sure what the upset is with Xbox here

CS733d ago

Lol, how do you ignore Rebirth one of the best games ever made?

anast33d ago

Looks like they are on par with the previous gens. Solid games all around. Interestingly enough, we can't say they released a bad game yet this gen. Unlike the Quiet Man dustup.

I actually do not mind if Marathon releases on multiple platforms . I just wish that Marathon has a dedicated single player campaign.

DaniMacYo33d ago

Helldivers 2 is exactly what gaming needed. I’m loving it.

People are saying the old one looked better. Can't say I agree though.

CobraKai67d ago

It’s funny cuz they always made Tobey’s lines silver in the old PS2 games too. It’s nice they finally corrected it

BillyCrystals68d ago

I'm probably in the minority but the Raimi Spidey movies have aged so poorly and are BRUTAL to rewatch. Just an unpleasant, cringe-fest with mostly horrible casting. Tobey and Kristen suck so much.

SimpleSlave68d ago

You're most def in the minority. Yeah. Aside from some boneheaded decisions, like having a mask on Willem Dafoe or shoehorning Venom in the Third one, those movies are far more enjoyable and honest than the new Marvel's Spider-Man movies.

As for Tobey and Kristen, they both help ground the characters and make them more relatable and human than the new Disneyfied versions. It's no secret as to why the best parts of the Disney Spider-Man movies are the ones with the characters from the original Trilogy; Dafoe, Tobey and Molina.

The original trilogy is indeed not perfect, but they still have heart and feel like the people behind them actually cared about the property whereas the new version feels like brain numbing been-there-done-that by the numbers Disney affair.

But to each their own.

Storm2368d ago

I love 1 and 2. Haven't watched the new movies (or really any Marvel movies of the last 10+ years, lol).

jwillj2k468d ago

When I rewatch amazing Spider-Man it feels like the drama parts could have been their own movie with only glimpses of him being spiderman. Disney spiderman has no real emotion outside of the ending of the last one.

OtterX68d ago

Yea, Part 3 hasn't aged well, but Part 1 & 2 are still good watches. I really, really liked how they did Sandman in Part 3, it's just a shame that its Venom sucked and pushed Sandman more to the side.

CobraKai67d ago

To each their own is something most people don’t understand. I loved the Tobey movies but disliked the Amazing movies, but it’s all about taste and it’s good that people don’t all have the same tastes
