Does work well using it as a regular screen to play non VR games or watch movies/videos. I liked the PSVR 1 except using it to watch movies or play nonVR games the screen kept drifting to the left, if I'm remembering correctly, making me adjust my head by turning it over time until I recentered the screen.

Come to think of it I’m in the same boat. FF7 rebirth or maybe FF16 could take time away from psvr2 but these days if I game, it’s in vr.

Exactly, only flat games I’m planning to play are FF16 and Spider-Man2. Everything else will be vr based until Sony reveals more of their first party plans.

Being in the game rather than an outside observer makes it an entirely different experience from flat gaming. Going back to flat gaming after playing VR feels like taking a step backwards in time.

I'm even starting to play non-VR in the PSV2's cinema mode because it looks so incredible and it extra immersive. Will already take me years to get through the PSVR2 games I want to play.

Same, I’ve been playing may of my flat games in cinematic mode. It just adds more to the game when you have to look at different parts of the screen to see everything.

Next I will try a flat shooter, since I have to wait for Crossfire: Sierra squad. Maybe I’ll pick up Pavlov since I keep hearing good things about it, not really into mp games but one could be alright I guess.

This is what drives me crazy about PlayStation reviews…. The hyperbole…. How is psvr2 the “gold standard” of vr. From a performance/hardware perspective it’s considered mid range in the grand scheme. From a price perspective, a quest 2 is cheaper and more popular and offers most of the same features and is self contained.

I own a psvr2 and it’s great. It really is a good deal for hardware you get. The library right now is what I would describe as early and will get better. But while I say psvr2 is great, it’s hardly the gold standard. Nothing it does is unique to psvr2, nor is it the most affordable to get into vr with (don’t forget in addition to the $550 headset, you need a $500 ps5 and it comes with no games), nor is it th best spec’d. so it’s too expensive to be accessible and too cheap to compete with the high end headsets.

I got to use a vr headset at a simulator company and the headsets were like thick sunglasses (Big Screen VR). The unit was tiny and extremely comfortable. Double the resolution of psvr2, up to 144hz refresh rate, oled, hdr, blah blah blah and everything else psvr2 does. THOSE things when they come out to market will be amazing.

The points you are trying to make that it is neither the most expensive high end or the cheapest is the entire point of the device. It's incredibly powerful for the price. Meta is a low end processor and screen and top end PC VR is out of most people's reach. It's the sweet spot of performance and price along with top tier games. That's exactly what is needed for VR to take off and what most people interested in it are looking for.

This review is on point. Nothing in gaming has never hit me like the psvr2. Last night when i ended up my pavlov and red matter 2 game session i really though to myself how awesome this thing is. No extra gimmick points, the experience is just so strong, immersive and rewarding. I would say its even inspiring. And the people online are just so polite and well mannered.

As much as I won't the psvr2 I'm more interested in starfield so my next big purchase will be an x. Maybe next year a few months after Christmas I'll be straight to get one. I had psvr1 for about a year and it was fun as hell. Had to have surgery , ran out of money from missing months of work so I had to sell it.

Sounds like a good plan. Hope Starfield is good and by the time you get your PSVR 2 there will be so many games that you won't be able to handle it. I'm having trouble playing everything now lol

I can’t keep up with the PSVR2 games now.
I still play flat because I like to play RPGs/JRPGS and that’s one genre that isn’t represented very well, yet.
I’d love for there to be some action and turn based RPGs on PSVR2, hopefully sooner than later.
But I’m definitely gravitating towards my PSVR2 more and more and I have a hard time deciding what to play next.

Just got mine and so far I am really impressed. I owned the original headset and the set-up was a mess. This is a lot more elegant and impressive.
Hope we get more exclusives in the near future but I am also happy just getting very good versions of multiplatform VR titles.

You must not vr much because there's literally not a single game on it that has broken anything not seen before. Right now iam playing switchback, along with saints and sinners though good games, they are nothing new or different. Not to mention the complete lack of BC content and the questionable cheap feel of the visor itself that for me put it way way back from being the gold standard. It's a good product but let's not exaggerate ok.

Not really an exaggeration at all. The sales numbers and reviews prove the PSVR2 gets almost everything right and offers a dynamic blend of all the best things VR has to offer. Nobody is claiming the PSVR2 is revolutionary, or even the most advanced. The author, and the rest of the gaming industry, all seem to have the consensus that the value is there, the game catalog is rapidly improving, and attention is being grabbed, making it something to emulate.

The visor also doesn't feel cheap in any way lol its designed to be lightweight to eliminate head and shoulder fatigue. Almost everything about the headset is expertly crafted and balanced.
