PSVR2 Review: Walkabout Mini Golf - Teerrific Experience Fore the Players | Push Square

You’ll be teeing off solo or with up to seven other players online (including crossplay) across a wide range of different locales. From a good old-fashioned turf course to wading through the dark depths of the ocean floor, golfing has never been more interesting.

This is an enjoyably easy to pickup and play virtual reality golfing experience with superb physics, a wide array of courses, and the delightful inclusion of treasure hunts and collectibles — a whole-in-one experience. We’d highly recommend you round up some friends and join the club.

This, along with GT7, is a game I HAVE to play every time I get a chance to play. I don't see that changing any time soon - it's SO good!

I need to pick it up, but want Puzzling Places too. Which should I go for?

Petebloodyonion361d ago

Walkabout Minigolf! Best VR deal for the price you get insane value and tons of replayability.

SullysCigar361d ago

^ I agree with Pete, I'd go with Walkabout. Puzzling Places is also a good chill out game though and they're about to add co-op, which was unexpected!

Thanks all.
Walkabout it is then.

Trust me you won't be disappointed!
Been playing a lot with PSVR2 users today (they are labeled WMG) and it was quite funny to see ppl searching for balls on Tourist Trap :).

Thanks Pete.

I need some chill out VR.
Humanity is meeting that requirement for now.

Can anyone tell me how does the tracking work in comparison?
I've tested on two separate Quest 2 headsets.

How does it relate to
- PSVR2?
- Rift S?
- Pico 4?
- Index (Lighthouse 2.0) tracking?

I'm not sure if I'm just that bad or the accuracy of the tracking lefts something to be desired. Sometimes it's just not going where I intended even if I do a few practice swings. Likewise, getting some trick shots done doesn't improve above like "once per 30 attempts" in practice mode. I mean the one where I need to put the ball through an off-course ramp, where you have just 5cm target or the ball ends up off course instead of going back onto the green. That's not that hard trick shot, but I just don't get any better at it after trying for 20 minutes straight. Also in some other games, like Eleven Table Tennis, it feels like tracking fails, in this case in 99,99% of my attempts of sending a "quick ball". It's like the tracking doesn't register quick moves with added wrist movements accurate enough. I don't use any wrist movements in Minigolf and tried adjusting put strenght in the menu down to 0,30x, but I still struggle sometimes with balls just 1 meter away from the hole.

Maybe I'm just that bad at minigolf, but I am curious to learn if other tracking systems make it easier to be better in this game. I love this game so much I'd consider buying a different headset for it, if it helps me making fails less often ;)

The game itself is truly among the TOP 5 VR games ever made, though.

I have heard that if a) you're right handed and b) you hold it like you normally would hold a golf club and c) you're only using the right controller, it's possible you'll block the headset's view of the sensors on the controller ring. You can swap it out and use the opposite controller, that helps, or just adjust your grip.

Even better is to mount your controller with some velcro to a short stick (maybe about a foot long) and then it would feel great, I'd bet! Haven't done this yet, but I did make a paddle for Kayak VR Mirage and it works SO well!
