ESTNN Writes - "Imagine you're out in the middle of the sea on a creaking fishing vessel. The workday's over, and the sun's just set. And as you're coasting your way back to the docks, you see something heading your way. Squinting, you make out the shape of another boat in a mysterious fog. As you get closer, you sound your horn, which the other ship promptly repeats back at you, eerily matching the beat. It closes the distance and makes a beeline toward you in the dark."
DREDGE is a fishing adventure game that piles on the creepiness and fun.
Rob Webb of KnowTechie writes: We're still waiting on the details, but this video game adaptation promises to be seriously creepy.
The indie game Dredge, known for blending fishing with horror, is set to hit the big screen in an upcoming movie adaptation by Story Kitchen.
It's weird, this "Story Kitchen" have so many projects in the works:
Disco Elysium
Dredge
It Takes Two
Life is Strange
My Friend Pedro
Sifu
Sleeping Dogs
Slime Rancher
Streets of Rage
Vampire Survivors
I can kind of understand how to shoot a interesting movie based on Disco Elysium or Sleeping Dogs, heck, even My Friend Pedro can be made into a stylish short action film (maybe even do some first person shots?). But Vampire Survivors or Slime Rancher, or even Dredge?
Got a feeling this company just obtains any rights they can for any popular (or semi-popular) game, without a care in the world. On their website, they don't have any news (they only exception i've found is a Streets of Rage project, it says «feature development at Lionsgate»), trailers or event art and synopsis for the upcoming movies.
Can't wait for Solitaire and Minesweeper movie announcements! /s
Have many indie games been made into movies before? I can't think of any. I guess that Postal movie would be one of them
