This title has brought about much debate. I just unfortunately, don't feel the developers, Druckman in particular, have done enough to persuade me to part with my money, for yet another iteration of the same title within a short number of years.

Ultimately, I feel that the aim is to reach new purchasers of the title, perhaps those whom may watch the new television series.

At the end of the day, please don't insult me, because I am a huge Naughty Dog fan and I have platinumed all their prior games from the Unchartered series onwards.

My main gripe, is that the developers have not added a couple of short new sections. I am simply talking of just expanding on an already beloved level by adding another room or perhaps giving a protagonist an additional extra melee move. Sadly though, this seems not to be the case

You can talk about whether this game is worth it or not, till you're blue in the face, but ultimately at the end of the day, the fundamentals & basics were already in place for this game before redevelopment was deployed for this PS5 title.

This is in my top three favourite games of all time. If I was a PC gamer or a new console owner I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to buy this game. Sadly though, and thiis is my ultimate gripe, 70 quid dollars ,whatever, is just not worth it for me, who has already experienced the story several times over.

garryxcs646d ago (Edited 646d ago )

Well not to insult you but I don't understand why every single article for this game has to have someone, or usually multiple someone's giving everyone their reasoning for not buying the game and that reasoning is always the price. People keep acting like the game was made specifically for them individually as if there isn't a potential market out there of people that are new to the series. You're not obligated, you don't want to buy it don't, it's that simple. Also this article is about the accessibility features which they should be praised for not the price point which we've already heard enough complaining about so needless to say you're off topic.

where-eagles-dare646d ago

My entire post has gone over your head. I have nothing but praise for the game.

My extreme disappointment comes from the fact that there seems to be no extra enhancements, such as expanding on the levels adding new melee options and tweaking navigation options or adding of loads of additional enemies.

The price is irrelevant to me. I am totally talking about 'value' for people who have already played the game several times on two previous consoles. An extra lick of graphical sheen is not worth 70 quid to me, whereas adding and expanding upon the levels and adding new enhancements would have been.

However, lastly with all that being said, for people who have never played this game 70 quid is an absolute bargain for this once-in-a-lifetime masterpiece.

MadLad646d ago (Edited 646d ago )

Because, as gamers and consumers, you should be holding these companies to higher standards.
Not letting them think they can do low effort, but ask for a high pay out.
Let alone gloat that you're going to support it both vocally and financially.
This is supposed to be Sony's flagship studio, and even people who love them, myself included, are annoyed at what is going on here.
Because that sets a rocky, and greedy, precedent that Sony is seemingly testing the waters for.

garryxcs646d ago

@ MadLad

Holding to standards, or just complaining for the sake of complaining? "Low effort"? That's an insult, did you not see the improvements to the game in comparison videos? This was hardly low effort and they are a Flag Ship developer for Sony which is probably why they're a target for all the hate. People can support it vocally and financially all they want, again for the hundredth time it's their money not yours, its ridiculous you call peoples excitement for the game "gloating". Sony isn't "testing" anything, they're putting out a definitive version of a game something we've seen other developers do time and time again and no one outraged about it becasue those games were multi-plat. At the end of the day buy it or don't but you're wasting your time moaning about it.

garryxcs646d ago

"My entire post has gone over your head."

Pot meet Kettle.

You're not the target audience and that's ok, you can always just buy ND's next game instead..

"for people who have never played this game 70 quid is an absolute bargain for this once-in-a-lifetime masterpiece."

On that we wholeheartedly agree.

"I just unfortunately, don't feel the developers, Druckman in particular, have done enough to persuade me to part with my money"

This is a bit confusing. Why Druckmann in particular? Doesn't this remake have a different director? Matthew Gallant?

where-eagles-dare646d ago

If you think the vice president of the entire company doesn't have any sway, then you are gullible in the extreme.

LucasRuinedChildhood646d ago (Edited 646d ago )

Oh, haven't you heard?

Neil Druckmann is the Boogeyman. https://static.wikia.nocook...

"Druckmann [the Boogieman] in particular" This man gets it.

If Cuckmann the glorified coffee boy ruins another Naughty Dog game, I'm saying it now, there will be a reckoning. Sony is going to have to hire more security (don't misinterpret what I'm saying). We will throw boiling coffee at him in the streets. I just wish Bruce Straley and Amy Hennig were still in charge. Neil GroomerMan's scheming ways ruined everything. Go back to Israel, bucko!

Anyway, please search for video(s) explaining why Druckmann is the Boogeyman, and preferably consume at least one new video per day for your own safety. Once thought to be a mythical creature, he has been sent to terrify and torture all of us who dislike TLOU2 for logical, fair reasons (objectively, the worst game ever made if you believe in facts and logic). Leave gaming alone, Neil Boogeyman.

I'm boiling some coffee now.

LucasRuinedChildhood646d ago

I hope everyone understands that my comment was parodying some of the crazy comments I've seen on this site. lol

Good-Smurf646d ago

I already said my reason and moved on.
Give it a rest already.
You don't have to go on and on about it let it go, the game will get cheaper are you going to say this for another month or two until the price dropped or something?

anast646d ago (Edited 646d ago )

Some advice: I would shorten the post. The longer it is the more downvotes you will get. People don't like to read.
When you open with "Druckman..." it makes people think you are a bit on the conservative side, which could mean that you care more about politics than gaming.

I'm hyped about the game which conflicts with what it could mean for gaming as a whole. Anyway, I'm going to buy it when I can.

generic-user-name646d ago

"If you think the vice president of the entire company doesn't have any sway, then you are gullible in the extreme."

He's actually co-president these days, but so is Evan Wells. Why target Druckmann and not Wells or the 3 co-vice presidents?

Love this. And I love the fact the industry is going in the direction of making games more accessible to all.

RickRoland646d ago

Agreed. This is incredibly important.

Ryuk_2007646d ago (Edited 646d ago )

I'm still trying to figure out who this remake is for? The game has been bundled for the ps3 then later the ps4.. for years. Hell, just last year it was given away for free to all ps5 owners in the ps plus collection and now it's being sold again as a $70 remake to all those ps5 owners who never had a chance to play it for free?

MrNinosan646d ago

It's for people like me, who loved the game on PS3, PS4 and now almost a decade later with incredible improvement.

Then I also bought my favourite movies on VHS, DVD and Blu-Ray, just to get the best out of it.

I don't mind spending 70$ on a game when I know the money is worth it, and in this case also funding their next game which I most likely will love aswell.

It's also for all those people out there who went from Xbox, Nintendo or PC and finally got themselves a Playstation for the first time.

And then it's for those people who where way too young back in the days to play Last of Us, who now have grown older and want to give it a shot.

And to all those none gamers who might have purchased their first console, heard about the TV-Show and want to give it a try.

I see plenty of reasons for this remake, and I'm happy it's soon here. It doesn't slow down development on other projects and it doesn't force anyone to buy it.

Redemption-64646d ago

It's for anyone that is interested and wants to buy it. You don't need to know who it's for, just know it's there for those who want it.

where-eagles-dare646d ago

My sincere apologies for levelling a smidgen & a crumb of criticism towards this title. The Sony w*nker Brigade will not allow a shred of criticism.

anast646d ago

People tend to think an argument is somehow censorship. This should be more concerning to you that what a Sony fan thinks.

Neil Druckmann: Philosopher gamer behind 'The Last of Us'

who is now the sole leader of Naughty Dog, “I promise you, we will not be ‘The Last of Us’ studio forever.” Numerous games, he said, are in the works, including “multiple single-player projects.

Lightning771d 3h ago

I know he has a celebrity like status but unless he's announcing his game soon idc what he has to say from this point on.

We need announcement something from him.

rippermcrip3h ago

Kind of a weird interview. No substance, hardly any questions. It's almost like they forgot to post the whole thing or something.

neomahi3h ago

Oh brother...... It's like a balloon filling with helium. He's got nothing new to say. Naughty Dog went from being a studio of numerous developers to being about him and what HE does. Bruce Straley was the co-creator of The Last of Us, and he left--I think for the same reason Christophe Balestra left and since then, Naughty Dog haven't been the same. PlayStation is incredibly woke, as all businesses seem to be these days, ignorant to what's really going on sacrificing the greater for peanuts, but I think they left because of the uprising political atmosphere. They knew there was nothing they could do about it and an attempt to try and combat it, in today's society would end them up in legal trouble so, they just left, what else can you do when the opposition behaves like a child, screams and yells louder than you want to in raged fits, and will throw lawsuits at you at whatever chance they can, but you don't play that way, so they left. And Naughty Dog hasn't been the same since.

Naughty Dog was huge at one time! They were the underdog that became the top dog but, the direction it's fine, just watch and wait. It's ego, and Druckmanns ego of thinking they're untouchable and can just coast along, will drop them rock bottom, in due time, they could see the same fate as Xbox's teams met. Fans will turn on Naughty Dog because A) Naughty Dog aren't producing, they're not what they once were.
B) Gamers ARE growing tired of the woke culture overtaking their lifetime hobby. They're just more silent about it, it's the quiet cool

anast2h ago

Non of this makes sense. I would like to think you didn't spend too much time writing it.

MIDGETonSTILTS172h ago

You project your own views on the world, and that is a mistake.

anast2h ago

He's a solid theatre arts person, but he's not a philosopher. Being good at one thing doesn't mean he's Descartes.

MIDGETonSTILTS172h ago

Sony should try and stay radio silence outside of hard reveals.

It’s painful to wait for any info at all, but it’s less painful than skimming an interview that avoids all details whatsoever.

Commit to radio silence, Sony. You can afford to leverage the trust in gaming output that you’ve cultivated.

The Last Of Us Series Has Remarkable Potential For Spin-Offs

Najam from eXputer writes "It's time fore a new installment in the series, not another pointless remaster."

anast123d ago

They are working on something new. Not to be rude but it is impossibility stupid to think ND next major announcement is going to be a remaster or their next Last of Us entry is going to be another remaster.

AlterRecs120d ago

I think this is in response to them releasing a remaster for the sequel, a game that didn't need a remaster.

Basically a "why did you put out a remaster no one asked for when you have all there options available"

anast120d ago

They remaster is to put out something quick while they are deving new stuff. I don't get how people can be so static.

AlterRecs119d ago

There's no news about a third game being in production, you're just assuming that they're working on something that they aren't

anast119d ago

When they release the news to start the hype-train, you can give me my props then.

DrDoomer123d ago

I want an alternate timeline spin-off, where part 2 never happened.

CrimsonWing69123d ago

They’ve already done Remasters of 1 and 2… what else is there to Remaster?

AlterRecs120d ago

Considering they remastered the first game twice, who knows lol

CrimsonWing69120d ago

That was a Remake. I guess they could do that to 2, but man…. They should wait a couple generations so it can look like a major upgrade.
