Today Square Enix announced the next mainline game of the Kingdom Hearts series, Kingdom Hearts 4.

I like that it seems to be taking place in a more realistic world. Or maybe that's just one of the many worlds you visit, who knows.

I’m quite burned out on superheroes atm though. Hopefully Sora plays well with them, but with nothing else like tv shows and films, I can take it or leave it.

KH3 was pretty blah, was way too easy and the story was trash. KH2 and Birth by sleep are the series height. Sadly they needed to dumb it down for the casuals. I just hope there are no more 5000000 Xeanorts

Ya'll are crazy, KH3 was a blast. Sure it wasn't a perfect game, but it was really well crafted and had a lot of memorable moments. Just wish the "attraction" rides weren't a thing. Or, were much less powerful and wouldn't interrupt boss music.

@Snookies; my issue is there were no human bosses either until the final boss or the dlc bosses; all the fights were very easy and boring, the story was also very meh compared to the previous games.

MOST OF IT....
which means that Final Fantasy 9 REMAKE, Titanfall 3, Injustice 3, Dragons Dogma 2 is also REAL?!
And Returnal, Horizon Forbidden West, Ghost of Tsushima and GT7 is also coming to PC?!

Not necessarily. Upcoming games like Hellblade II and Quantum Error made its transition from UE4 to UE5.

Holy poop, they just turned KH into FFVersus. It looks fantastic. I 100% didn’t play KH3 because it took 16 years to release. I was 12 when KH2 released and 28 when KH3 released. At that point, I weaned off a lot of Disney property. Make it more mature like what I just saw and I’m in!!

Yeah it was a long wait for a bunch of fluffy pointless uninspired worlds. It's like they had a checklist of worlds you were going to have to visit and they'd randomly throw you into them with there being a clear reason as to why you're there. All the worlds were a massive disappointment for me.

We already knew they would. But Sony is much smarter than Microsoft, they release their games on PC 2-3 years after the console counterpart and they still reap those consoles sales. Problem with Microsoft's strategy is that anyone with a semi decent PC doesn't need to buy a Xbox at all since the games can be played everywhere else without the need for one. Yes, you will eventually be able to play some Sony exclusives (not all of them) on PC, but you need to wait 2-3 years for that. Most people aren't nearly patient enough to wait that long, thus people buy Playstation consoles.

I really enjoyed the older games. And while the gameplay in KH3 was solid, the writing was practically unbearable. Sometimes up to like a dozen cutscenes in a row that could contain truly cringe-worthy dialog. I hope they can improve that for 4 - it was the biggest barrier, to me, for enjoying 3 in all honesty.

And hopefully they remember Square/FF stuff can be in there. I enjoy the Disney/Pixar stuff a bunch, but felt like the former was quite absent in 3 compared to earlier entries.

I was really missing the old school Kingdom Hearts vibe in the later games, especially 3 and it looks like they're steering away from it even further.

I know it doesn't look 'realistic' but I really enjoyed that cartoony look, where shadows and highlights were part of the textures. so much more. I dunno, it just feels to me like the franchise lost it's artistic touch.

Eh, they did the same with KH3s reveal and the gameplay ended up being much more clunky and not as cool so I'm not so much impressed by the fake gameplay.
Im just not entirely sure what to think on the direction tho. Im an old school fan, I fell in love when I first saw the original trailer for the first game and at this point the charm is gone. It's obvious Namura is being inspired by the whole multiverse craze with marvel, and this feels like he second chance at vs 13 cause the artsyle leans toward vs. I'm still buying this tho lol

I like that it is set in Tokyo! Most of the action in the trailer happens in Shibuya (Hikarie Building). I wonder if they will include other locations as well 🤔

Reminds me of that fake gameplay trailer for Final Fantasy XV - the one that turned out to be CG. It's hard to imagine the final game looking and playing like this.

Also, I'm really hoping that Quadratum doesn't turn out to be another San Fransokyo - lifeless and with arbitrary boundaries.

Looks great visually, but after the mess that is KH3 I don't really have high hopes for this franchise. I mean KH plot has always been a mess and convoluted, but KH3 took that and messed it up to a whole new level...
