Even better... with a 3090.... for real. Why not do with what gamers really play and not a card that not even 5% of pc gamers use...

Eonjay875d ago

I hate this too. I think all PC comparisons should get three teirs of tests to cover a wider range of hardware that more accurate represents the PC landscape. Show minimum specs, a mid range system and the high end. The thing is, what makes PC so interesting is that it allows you to build a system that meets your budget constraints. In the case of showing everything running only on a 3090 (a card which btw is more unattaniable than even a PS5) you are being dishonest and lazy.

It also discourages people from PC gaming by making it seem like you have to have invest thousands into your hardware to get a good experience. This is false.

“Even better... with a 3090.... for real. Why not do with what gamers really play and not a card that not even 5% of pc gamers use...“

Agreed. Reminds me of the DF comparisons where they always say that it’s better on PC. Yea if you’re rocking a $2000 PC. The comparisons are pointless just like this article saying the one of the best games ever made is even better on a super expensive PC that the majority doesn’t have.

waverider874d ago

Exactly what im saying. Dont understand why. What the most used gpu on Steam? 3090 or a 3080... Nope... its way, way lower...

LordoftheCritics874d ago (Edited 874d ago )

You wont need 3090. Thats just overkill.

Also Nvidia Reflex is actually amazing.

I can get my render latency down to 3ms in so many games and almost 2ms in a few. One article said that you could basically increase difficulty because your dodges, axe throws and feedback etc is almost immediate feeling. That is true for so many games as well that can lower the latency.

specialguest874d ago (Edited 874d ago )

I disagree with your complaint. When showcasing a new game on PC, we want to see what it's capable of at the max intended settings. That's the point of the reveal. As a PC gamer it's common knowledge for decades that if you're running a mid tier setup, you're not going to get maxed out settings. If you're still unsure if your PC can handle it, there's always plenty of videos on YouTube where people test certain games with different GPU/CPU setups with different game settings

Zeref874d ago (Edited 874d ago )

The narrative is always that PC runs games better. The truth is much more complicated than that.

Zeref874d ago (Edited 874d ago )

I don't like that it's only now that it's a PlayStation game that we're having this conversation. But i'm glad we're having it regardless.

Basically everything @Eonjay said is spot on.

MadLad874d ago (Edited 874d ago )

Were you complaining last gen when devs were showcasing their upcoming titles on the PS4 Pro, or Xbox One X, when they made up only a fraction of what people were actually playing on?

And besides, if you need something in the 3x series to run a game that ran on a base PS4, that's a Sony optimization issue. Anybody running a 2060 or above should be running laps with these games, and at 60fps.

Looks amazing watching it on YouTube on my rtx 3080

Fishy Fingers875d ago (Edited 875d ago )

Its not out for 2 days :/

Nice edit ;) "Looks amazing on my rtx 3080"

CaptainHenry916875d ago (Edited 875d ago )

There's a few people with early access codes including some* N4G members* and people already playing it on YouTube. But don't tell that to Sony. I'll keep that to myself for now on. 🤔 😶🤫 It does look amazing

VerminSC875d ago

It’s funny all these PC fanboys talking about how amazing it looks, yet constantly bash console gaming.

But almost all of the truly spectacular looking games were first console exclusive.

I can’t think of a single PC exclusive with the graphics, and animation of GOW, TLOU2, Demon souls remake, and Ratchet and Clank Rift apart.

Magog874d ago

I replayed it on PS5 at 60fps and I can't tell the difference between that and the PC footage.

annoyedgamer874d ago (Edited 874d ago )

Metro Exodus RTX and Cyberpunk 2077

VerminSC874d ago

Really dude? metro feels so janky and I don’t even need to bring up Cuberpunk..

The games I mentioned murder those games in graphics, animation, not to mention gameplay.

Binarycode874d ago

Metro has nice visuals but is boring as hell. Not enough combat. Cyberpunk had good pace, performance issues and major bugs. Trying to support too many platforms.

MadLad874d ago

Console only players are hilarious. Every year they sit and pray their chosen plastic box has a couple big name titles so they can fight for console "dominance".
Even now, knowing Sony is actively going into the PC market, people are getting annoyed like Sony betrayed them or something.

At the end of the day we're happy to see Sony games on PC, but many of us don't care when they're not all the same.
The original GoW and HZD didn't get them to run out for a PS4. Nor will the sequels make them for a PS5.

These companies could spend whatever exorbitant amount of money they choose to to make sure every release is a technical showpiece.

When it comes to PC we'll play it, enjoy it, then uninstall it and move to something else like every other game, because that's all it is. Another game.

VerminSC874d ago (Edited 874d ago )

Yeah I disagree. You say this but PC gamers played the everliving shit out of Skyrim and Witcher 3 because they were some of the only decent AAA games available to them.

If you love VR, RTS, and indie games I’d go with a PC. If you want AAA masterpieces that push the envelope I’d go with PlayStation.

It’s just odd to me that PC players advertise the opposite. They make it seem like the most graphically impressive and mind blowing games are only on PC. Just not true.

MadLad874d ago

@vermin

I don't really agree with your wording. Like I said, you look at most Playstation (and now MS releases), and you know there has been a lot of money put into the game.
They're not just a game, but also meant to push the brand as a whole.

There's no real reason for PC to do that, being that anyone releasing games for PC aren't also trying to sell you hardware; the hardware offsetting some of the cost of these games that go above and beyond.

99% of games can look, and play, better than the console versions. Even the once exclusives.

Me getting sick of the drawn out PS3/360 era is literally why I built my first PC. Spending $60 on Farcry 3 for console, the sluggish, blurry mess that it was, tipped me over the edge.

foker874d ago (Edited 874d ago )

Better how ,.. because they probably ran 2018 game with ai dssl from 1080p up-scaled to 4k and are happy they can hit 90fps on 2000USD rig ,.. Well more is better I guess ,..

God of War Needs to Redefine Kratos' Purpose Clearly and Quickly

Whatever form the next God of War game takes, it needs to be clear about what role Kratos is playing, lest the franchise lose direction.

I'm pretty sure it'd be a major mistake having Atreus as the main character in the next GoW. Seems to me like at best people tolerate him and his gameplay sections.

Ideally the story for the next game would be that Atreus has gone missing in Egypt, Kratos gets mad about it, picks up Mimir and goes on a god killing rampage.

Mad_Matt8d ago

If that is an option for the dev team then they need to make it a clean slate. No Atreus, No Mimir. That's what happened when he changed pantheons before. Lets Kratos be in that world. But it will be a difficult task to complete. Kratos and his past demons are getting a bit redundant as far as story telling goes.

Nacho_Z8d ago

Yeah there's not a lot of meat left on the bone story wise. Personally I'd happily accept any goofy reason they could come up with for why Kratos is in Egypt chopping off heads. I'm personally not that bothered about the finer points of the storytelling, although they do it well.

The_Hooligan7d ago

I would still like to have Mimir in the next game. They (devs) can justify it by saying that Mimir wants to gain knowledge about other realms/pantheons. Also, personally I think Alastair Duncan did a great job as Mimir and would love to see the continuation of the small banters Kratos and Mimir had in the past games.

goldwyncq7d ago

The point of Ragnarok's ending is to show that Atreus is his own man now. Having Daddy Kratos save him in Egypt after getting himself into trouble would just undo his entire character development.

Nacho_Z7d ago (Edited 7d ago )

The point was more to do with getting Atreus out of the way rather than him being saved. Let's say he's off on his own adventures then and invent another reason for Kratos to be in Egypt.

Could be that Kratos thinks he's been captured or killed as motivation but at the close of the game it turns out Atreus has been up to his own shady shenanigans.

Lionsguard7d ago

They need to bring back the "God of War" in God of War. I was expecting to unleash hell and fury in Asgard against Thor that they really talked up in the first game but all we got was brooding middle aged dad drunk in a beer hall. Ragnarok was still "good" but I left that game expecting a lot more.

InUrFoxHole7d ago

Tried Rag... just couldn't get into it. Felt like more of the same. I would welcome a Kratos only game again.
