Wow, this is great! Its a shame, Sony doesnt have something like this on its own.

annoyedgamer869d ago

Yea, I have a rule to only buy official Sony branded stuff. No Sony logo = no sale. So sadly I will have to do without it. Looks cool though.

Matpan869d ago

The cost of developing it, making a whole plastic injection molding and assembly line packaging, marketing... would probably not even be offset by the sales. These are quite niche products so you are always going to have to find them either by third party specialised providers or taylor made by soem dude over the internet, like the case.

But this guy not only went to the trouble od engineering a clever solution to a problem, but made the files available for free. Any person in need of a solution like this can grab the plans for themselves and print them at any quality they choose to, in the material they want at several price points.

I much rather have an open source solution like this...

me: oh neat thing for people with disabilities
creator: I mostly created this to play It Takes Two on my own
me: oh...

BlackDoomAx869d ago

xD But it's still nice for people with disabilities, that's what matters :)

MadLad869d ago

I legitimately got a chuckle out of this.

DF Weekly: FSR 3 frame generation comes to consoles - and we've tested it

Proof of concept for a promising new technology.

I did note that the Xbox frame-gen implementation is not perfect. There appear to be intermediate freezing issues when there's a camera cut during cinematics, but while a bit annoying, it does not intrude on gameplay (a quick look at PS5 doesn't see this issue manifest)

Xbox Can’t catch a break recently

Obscure_Observer1d 22h ago

"I did note that the Xbox frame-gen implementation is not perfect."

Grasping at straws I see.

In the video John literally says that FSR 3´s implementation on Xbox Series X is far better than the PC version on release, and they are very impressed with the results. Especially considering that they didn´t even expect such performance to be possible achieved from 30fps. Not even AMD itself recommends 30fps for frame generation.

And... perfect? It´s not perfect even on PC to this day, so I´m no sure what you mean by that.

Maybe it´s perfect on PS5, I don´t know. It would be nice if you post the source of the analysis video of the PS5 version you saw to back up your claims.

"Xbox Can’t catch a break recently"

Don´t worry about the Xbox. There´ll be PLENTY of upcoming first party games to take advantage of FSR 3 in the coming months and years.

Indiana Jones, Avowed, Fable, Shattered Space (Starfield), Gears of War 6, Perfect Dark, State of Decay 3 and many many more.

Also, I´m expecting a FSR 3 update for Hellblade II rather sooner than later.

Great times ahead.

"It would be nice if you post the source of the analysis video of the PS5 version you saw to back up your claims.'

no I just quoted from the very article we are commenting on, these were digital foundry's words, saying xbox isn't perfect, but on the ps5 version, it doesn't see the issue manifest.

Tacoboto3h ago

Console warring over a framerate pause during non-interactive content in a first-of-its-kind implementation in a game no one gave a crap about when it released 9-10 months ago.

Gotta love N4G.

Eonjay3h ago

Its promising tech and what's even more funny is that it was DF that was saying it wouldn't work. If fact they were pretty emphatic about it. What's stupid about their claims is that consoles are just specialized PCs. Now imagine if they combine this with a different upscaler like TSR or the upcoming PSSR.

jznrpg2h ago

DF act like they know as much as the engineers that work on this software but they are not even close to as knowledgeable they only have tools that give them numbers and then they act like they are experts.

dumahim2h ago

I'd think there's a chance PSSR and frame-gen could yield better upgrade performance for PS5 Pro than PS4 Pro did if this is how well it's going to be working on consoles. I'm curious about input latency though.

Sony Pulls Neil Druckmann Interview, Citing "Significant Errors"

Sony removed an interview with Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann, stating that it didn't "represent his perspectives and values."

Eonjay5h ago

Welp at least they corrected the record but honestly why wouldn't they just use his words instead of paraphrasing for PR reasons? Glad to see Neil stand up for himself and get the truth out.

RNTody5h ago(Edited 5h ago)

This is pretty ludicrous to be honest! How did Sony get an interview with their own guy so wrong. If you read the transcript Neil put on Twitter compared to what was quoted about Naughty Dog's next game, it's laughable how badly he was represented. What he said was fine.

Glad he got the chance to clarify.

Notellin4h ago

No one is mad about the statement you're referencing.

The development community is concerned with the opinions he shared on AI.

S2Killinit3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

please read the article. It says that the released version was paraphrasing what he had said:

“Druckmann later went to social media to clarify that the interview did not accurately report the actual words he said, even providing his own direct transcript to show that it did not match up.”

What do we need to be concerned with exactly? He posted the entire direct transcript.

RNTody3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

Depends how it's used? AI has already been used in many businesses with success. If it's used to simulate voice actors without their consent, that's obviously bad. If it's used to streamline and automate certain functions or generic items during development, like data logs or background story information, maybe there's usefulness there.

AI is a hot topic and everyone is going to weigh in on it, but it is inevitable and it's up to us to speak out against misuse of it. Let the developers be excited about the possibilities, it's not like it's EA or some exec in a suit speaking on this topic, or Neil commenting on monetisation possibilities. He's a gaming guy, so maybe there's value there that he sees.

-Foxtrot3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

@S2Killinit

Jesus man, how about you read what Neil actually said on Twitter

FROM THE MAN HIMSELF

https://x.com/Neil_Druckman...

Nothing was mentioned about his AI comments, that's all 100% true, he literally makes a point of what part of the interview was misleading by screenshotting the exact part taken out of context. The part where he mentions "redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming".

Christopher18m ago

The Development Community is actually pro-AI as it will help reduce their workload. It's uninformed gamer community people who don't understand how they will utilize AI in development that are concerned.

Inverno5h ago

More like he got a lot of criticism, and it isn't the first time he's stirred up controversy so they want a do over.

RNTody5h ago(Edited 4h ago)

Lol dude, what he said was nothing close to controversial. The link to what he actually said is in the article. He never said Naughty Dog's next game would redefine mainstream gaming.

Inverno4h ago

So he did say hand animation is dated and AI is the future, just that their next game won't redefine gaming.

-Foxtrot4h ago

But his shitty AI comments still stand

Talking about using it for creative things like writing, dialogue, stories then pulling the same old "there's still ethical issues to address" which is what all AI lovers love to say at the end of bigging up AI so they don't get as much flack.

People keep thinking that the interview being pulled means everything he said was misquoted when the worst thing he actually did say during it wasn't misquoted at all.

RNTody3h ago

I responded above to the AI comments.

romulus2354m ago

It's not his fault people have nothing better to do then twist his words or whatever he's doing into something "controversial" so they have an excsue to complain.

Inverno48m ago

Not his fault, but if you're gonna express your opinions publicly then you should prepare for people to express their opinions on your opinions. His comment about hand animation rubbed people the wrong way, and we've yet to see how AI will help or ruin games so people have very strong opinions on it. His concern was that he didn't say their next game will redefine gaming, which let's be honest, ND normally pushes a few boundaries when they release a game so it's weird that that's the only thing he wanted to correct lol.

romulus2325m ago

Never said I had an issue with opinions on opinions but calling an opinion or comment "controversial" is something else entirely. People can get angry about AI assisted development all they want but its gonna happen, just like everything else the gaming community complains about and ends up happening anyway, Like it or not AI pretty much has to happen in the development space to keep costs down or there potentially wont be any AAA games in the future to complain about.

derek4h ago

He could have said anything and there are gamers that would triggered by it. Console warriors and cry babies who have never gotten over their videogame daddy dying in tlou2. Lol.

S2Killinit3h ago

Lol, most of those are just mad that there were gay girls in the game while manly father figure died. It was too much for them 😆

MultiVersus Relaunches and Now Features Four Different Kinds of In-Game Currency

MultiVersus launches again today and features four separate kinds of in-game currency, each used to unlock different content.

Relientk7712h ago

Modern gaming

What is this Destiny?

Inverno4h ago

I sure hope they include paid dlc on top of all the mtx currency types. Maybe if we're really lucky the game will shut down a year from now and i can feel extremely blessed to have enjoyed blowing money on cosmetics! I'm tingly just thinking about it!
I'll be trying it out again but they won't see a dime from me lol

JEECE4h ago

Well games that don't have heinous grinding and progression systems get dropped by their player base because "there's no reason to play." So I guess they are just giving people what they asked for.
