Players Infuriated At “Epic” Skin From Battlefield 2042

Battlefield

Today you helped inform us about a name we use for a Skin in Boris' Mastery Tiers.

It unintentionally references a real world issue, and isn't reflective of our team's values.

SinisterMister908d ago

Hmm.. wonder why they'd do that?

Fishy Fingers908d ago

"Players infuriated".....

One guys tweet.....

abstractel908d ago

I'm usually not very sensitive to these sort of things but reading the article I actually see their point. Not going to go join a crusade to burn down EA/DICE over it, but it's kind of a shitty move. I think the ISIS/Taliban analogy makes sense here.

4Sh0w908d ago

Oh I wish people would just shut the front door and play the damm game.

dbcoops908d ago

Welcome to the era of social media outrage. Simple math 1 = 1,000 apparently.

Eidolon908d ago

Probably not far from the truth, just as 1000 surveyed individuals could represent a magnitudes higher demographic, focus groups, etc. 1 Tweet could very well mean 1000, to them. lol

Rude-ro908d ago

It has been THE staple of gorilla warfare marketing/media since inception.

Heck, back in the day before we were connected outlets would just come up with baiting subjects to negatively/positively influence the market..

If you think this is “new”… man has the wool been over your eyes for a very long time.

dbcoops907d ago

@Rude-ro

The ideology may have been around for some time but the method for spreading it i.e. social media which I was referring to is relatively new.

zachyBROosevelt907d ago

That is literally everything anymore. Literally actually meaning literally in the real sense

This is the problem anymore… if you look hard enough, you’ll find something that offends someone. This has only gotten worse due to internet and social media. I seriously doubt this was done intentionally, especially after the ‘non-binary’ pandering that has already gone on with this game

Binarycode908d ago

Its called waaaaa waaaaa.

Babies.

PPL need to grow up.

giveyerheadawobble907d ago

Given what happened in Ukraine, if you were from there, you'd have the right to complain.

Only seems to be Yanks that get offended when someone else has a valid reason to be offended. Ironic. Then again, I think Americans have issues identifying irony. Once again, ironic.

InUrFoxHole907d ago

Sorry was dusting off my back 2 back WW Champs trophy. You say something?

Imalwaysright907d ago

Social media is the plague of the 21st century.

jBlakeeper907d ago

Yes I agree. This is kinda off topic but isn’t it crazy how much the world has progressed in the last 50 years even? It’s kind of scary to think about considering how old the Earth is. Social media is very new but has completely changed the world.

DigitallyAfflicted907d ago

It always depends from the point of view, US Army has been raping and pillaging in Vietnam war. And we still see them in every game, so we do see Germans, Russians and so on. If game is about military conflict then that’s expected.
There is always a choice not to buy game which we don't like and I suppose you free to criticisize and campaign against it but surely you would be better of to spent this energy on something what meters...

jBlakeeper907d ago

The problem with the internet and social media is that people have access to too much of it too often. It has destroyed a large part of normal social interaction and people tend to believe whatever news headline they see.

Live service bull@&”* as usual.

bondsmx908d ago

What are you talking about? This has nothing to do with a live service?

senorfartcushion907d ago

They’re built on skins, skins usually come with bull@&*#. Of course it’s has something to do with service games. Battlefield is a service game..

anast907d ago

The op is talking about all of the games that make their money on skins, I would assume a huge portion of these games are live service. I wonder how many times an offline single player game (not including UBIsoft here) had the same issue as a live service game with skins...

AnotherGamer908d ago

What that has anything to do with this?

MadLad908d ago

Just screaming GaaS at everything is popular with the gaming community online nowadays. Whether it applies or not.

senorfartcushion907d ago

dominicdecoco907d ago

Dude wtf are you talking about, at least read the article

senorfartcushion906d ago

It’s more important than whatever the article is saying lol

EA says largest Battlefield team yet is building ‘another tremendous live service’

Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson stated in a recent EA Earnings Call, that the next Battlefield "it is going to be another tremendous live service.”

Another? ANOTHER?

Is he honestly trying to make out like the last Battlefield was a huge success, not just as a game but as a live service game? I'm sure these guys live in their own echo chambers, they are so far removed from reality or they just like talking out of their arse trying to rewrite history.

Also why say such a tone deaf statement when you know the state of live service games at the minute and how many gamers feel about them. Bigging up the next BF game as live service does not give me any excitement or hype.

''is building ‘another tremendous LIE service’''

just_looken4h ago

This is nothing too new
https://www.eurogamer.net/e...

They had plans of a universe of live service games

Also these studios made 2042 there is no new massive team its the same team
https://www.eurogamer.net/t...

Well same team minus the seattle boys that were canned
https://gamerant.com/ea-bat...

This is all again same news different year but it seems very few remember what happened before covid.

RaidenBlack1d 7h ago

An Update on Battlefield 2042 and Welcoming Motive Studio to the Team

EA:

While we’ve enjoyed and are proud of creating these seasons of additional content for Battlefield 2042, it is now necessary for us to turn from the present to the future. What this ultimately means is that Season 7 will serve as the final season for Battlefield 2042. After Season 7 concludes, we will continue to support the game with new in-game challenges, events, modes, and of course, ongoing maintenance, but we are moving away from delivering official seasons.

Streamer Claims DICE Paid Over 60 Content Creators for Battlefield 2042 Feedback, Then Ignored It

Streamer Shroud says that DICE paid 60 to a hundred content creators to help develop Battlefield 2042, but ignored every single advice.

GoodGuy0943d ago

No wonder the game ended up the way it did
What they should've done was ask BF fans. Most general content creators typically go for the trend and the top creators stream games like LOL, fortnite, dota, gtaV, battle royale etc.

_SilverHawk_42d ago

A lot of times people want a game to be something else and I'd probably guess a lot of people wanted call of duty or a lot of it's features.

Bf2042 is amazing now but was not so much at launch. A lot of improvements made the game an amazing game with its own identity. I'm hoping the new battlefield game coming next year improves upon everything in bf2042 and is more akin to bf3 and bf4.

Gamingsince198142d ago

I want them to do a new bad company instead

DustMan41d ago

A ton of people have written the game off now. Which is unfortunate because I find it to be one of the best multiplayer shooters available now. I've been aware that a Battlefield game has not launched in a good condition since....I don't remember. So I never played at launch due to the horror stories, but it seems to have pulled a Battlefield 4 and really turned itself around. Good stuff. Love getting 4 kills on an apc with a well placed RPG, or Stinger to a loaded chopper lol. No other game has given me that kind of joy. lol.

Kornholic42d ago

To be fair, I would not listen to content creators/influencers either.

BISHOP-BRASIL42d ago

Look, I wouldn't pee on an influencer if they were on fire, but why pay for their feedback only to ignore it?

Kornholic42d ago

I don't know. Maybe they thought it was a good idea at first but eventually found out that it was best to ignore influencers' opinions?

jznrpg42d ago

I’ll give some advice and take money for it. You can use it or not use it just make sure to pay me

badboyz0942d ago

who would've thought🤷‍♀️

Yi-Long42d ago (Edited 42d ago )

Battlefield fans just want Battlefield to be Battlefield. Which means a focus on Conquest-mode (5/6 flags), some gorgeous and fun maps to play on, 4 balanced classes, and that's it.

The suits keep wanting to turn Battlefield into everything else BUT Battlefield, so first they wanted BF to be more like Call of Duty, so they copied a bunch of stuff from CoD. Then they wanted to take advantage of the Battle Royale stuff, so they went after that crowd. Then they saw the heroes stuff in Overwatch and so they brought in specialists. Etc.

Guys, we just want Battlefield. Not every games has to be everything to all people. Specialize in what makes (made) your series great, which is large(r) maps (appropriate size for the amount of players, which IMO should be 24-32 max, so not just big for bragging brights), integrating vehicle-combat, and just allowing the freedom and flow which made those matches in older Battlefield games so special at times.
