launches on PS5, PS6, Series X/S & M or whatever they call the next xb lol.

no doubt though. This is more an indication of how far out it is than anything, imo. just hope they deliver a great f'n game.

Waaaaaay too early for that . Dragons Age 2 was a just thrown together cash grab . There releases haven’t been great lately . I want a good Dragon Age but I am cautiously pessimistic heh . I’d like to say optimistic but this is the company that gave use Anthem and is owned by EA .

Sgt_Slaughter941d ago

Absolutely way too early to even be estimating what kind of game it will be, not to mention it's only Bioware by name. It won't at all be like the first game or their other quality titles before the company became awful.

Lightning77941d ago

Good news I just hope it was built first on next gen and not just cross gen that got scrapped.

LordoftheCritics941d ago (Edited 941d ago )

I have a feeling maybe next gen planned. Like main for next gen but some scalability for last gen but cancelled again for last gen for good reason. Also reason being that 2042 feels next gen in upgrades but in some ways has a hugely scaled down last gen version. I mean frostbite is insane even in lowest settings.

Like BF 2042 loads in seconds from menu to map. Like once you press enter to match, its like 5 seconds in game. That never happened with Frostbite engine games before. Even Inquisition and Andromeda on frostbite via nvme ssd has a bit longer loads. And all the battelfields before 2042 had much longer loads.

Just might be that 2042's Frostbite engine upgrades will show up on DA 4. Afaik the engine and its upgrades along with its optimizations are shared EA wide. Apparently Bioware did the craziest upgrades to in Inquistion and Andromeda. Like they pretty much reworked it. They have some crazy devs. Even if Andromeda's writing was poor and had those early face issues, the game itself was one helluva code rework. Also some of the best HDR ever. Especially with Half 16 framebuffer. Havent seen that as an option in any other game and it really helps in HDR.

Well that's great to hear. It's been a year. We need to start leaving last gen behind and focus on upgrading engines to take full advantage of the new consoles.

DJStotty941d ago

By the time this game is out you can change that to 3 years, this game will be a 2023 launch window.

Yui_Suzumiya941d ago (Edited 941d ago )

And yet I buy most of my games for Switch in handheld mode 😅

MajorLazer941d ago

Good for you? 🤷🏼‍♂️

northpaws941d ago

Switch is a good little device but not my preferred way to play games.

Screen is too small, controller is too uncomfortable, hardware too outdated.

I wish there will be a full on powerful Nintendo consoles with no gimmicks someday.

I was all about Nintendo from NES to GameCube... but starting to care less and less about they consoles since Wii... it was fun for a few games, but it was SUPER weak, and then the trend continued, Wii U, Switch... all very underpowered.

I want to play new Zelda/Mario in 4k 60fps with ray tracing, don't get me wrong, those games are fun without the graphic part, but would be perfect if we get both gameplay and graphic.

northpaws941d ago

But if it is on PC, then it is almost like "cross-gen", unless they set the minimum requirements high.

moomoo319941d ago

A year is nothing. There's less than 20mil next gen consoles in the wild right now vs what 200mil+ last gen? No one is releasing big next gen exclusives right now that is suicide. They will wait another couple years at least for that reason alone.

Game Update: Dragon Age in Production

BioWare writes: "As we continue our journey, we wanted to wish Christian Dailey a heartfelt farewell from BioWare. Christian started with us back in 2018 and has been a big influence on our games and leadership team, most recently as Executive Producer over Dragon Age’s development. The games industry is ever-changing though and sometimes folks want to go and try new things – we understand, but we will miss him as a friend and as a colleague."

Aaaand here we go. So tired of these devs leaving middle of AAA games... I understand problematic working environments but come on this never turns out well for anyone.

Christopher809d ago

You're tired of people making decisions for themselves on where they want to work? Seriously? They don't owe any of us squat. They have as much a right to find work elsewhere or just quit any job they want as anyone else.

Lightning77808d ago

Of course. My thing is why agree to a project that you can't commit to seeing the whole thing through? This has been a huge problem in AAA development for awhile. Nothing good comes out of everyone leaving prematurely.

Christopher808d ago

***My thing is why agree to a project that you can't commit to seeing the whole thing through?***

Maybe because the managers above him don't allow him to make the game he wants and he disagrees with it? Maybe they aren't giving him the resources they promised? Maybe he didn't have the control he was promised?

Absolutely no one should become an indentured servant just because you think they should finish a project while having absolutely no clue what they go through at the job

Palitera808d ago

"My thing is why agree to a project that you can't commit to seeing the whole thing through?"

Do you think these people enter the project with any intention of leaving midway?

I seriously doubt any of them took these decisions lightly, specially considering people in key roles.

XiNatsuDragnel809d ago

Beginning of the end rn in my opinion

BlackIceJoe809d ago

Hopefully Christian Dailey will start up his own RPG studio, just like Casey Hudson did.

staticall807d ago

Why though? This Christian Dailey got nothing under his belt*. Casey Hudson, on the other hand, was responsible for Mass Effect 1-3 games and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (and others, but he was a project director for those).

* "He had worked as the Franchise Development Director of Anthem Live Service" - taken from Anthem wiki. I don't think he or anyone else should be proud to be a part of Anthem.
