What a system seller! the PS5 was number one console in the UK and Miles Morales back on number one spot. 175% increase on the PS5. Bio Mutant 71% sales on Sony.... TLOU 2 number 3 game....

Jin_Sakai1080d ago

PS5 is killing it. And to think Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is right around the corner.

NeoGamer2321080d ago

I think it is sad that the TLOU2 and Spider-man MM are in the top 3 yet Returnal doesn't even appear in the top 10.

Shame on gamers not supporting new and original IP games.

waverider1080d ago (Edited 1080d ago )

No doubt it will do good. Some week better then others. Some markets better then others. MM was launched in november and TLou2 even further and are back on top. The important is that sony gamers got brand new choices to get and also good older gamer. Something for everybody.

Elda1080d ago

Nice. I just finished Biomutant. I enjoyed both games.

The Wood1080d ago (Edited 1080d ago )

Nice. Is biomutant worth full price?

Elda1080d ago (Edited 1080d ago )

I experienced several glitches & bugs including 3 times it crashed on me while playing on my PS5. I wasn't able to finish 5 side quests because of the bugs & glitches but other than that I enjoyed the game for what it was. I beat it within 4 days because I was enjoying myself playing. I don't mind spending full price for games that I'm interested in & eager to play so I can't speak for others.

spwittbold1080d ago

Game is border-line shovelwear.

coolbeans1080d ago (Edited 1080d ago )

Short answer: no. Experiment 101 has to do more work before it's worth a discount price.

spwittbold is being too uncharitable though.

toxic-inferno1080d ago

It's incredible that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (a 4 year old soft-remaster of a 7 year old game) still manages to place in the top 10!

Father__Merrin1080d ago

It was the same during the wii era Nintendo only have a few standout titles that they market to hell and that's what everyone buys

RedDevils1080d ago (Edited 1080d ago )

Funny that game price still hasn't change that much since it released.

Neonridr1080d ago

because it's a game that everyone who buys a Switch should get. It's the best version of the game with all the added modes and features.

Father__Merrin1080d ago

Looking at the numbers it seems backwards compatibility has zero influence we have been told otherwise on n4g. New console to play new games is apparant now

I'm surprised by Miles morales, seems everyone's picking it up when they get a ps5 once production is fully ramped ps5 will achieve a 3.1 ratio compared to series x I'd even argue a 4.1 ratio one day.

The only blip on Sony is if they start releasing key titles on pc

neutralgamer19921080d ago (Edited 1080d ago )

These services and features are nice cherry on top but they can't be the main dish. This is something many don't understand. In my humble opinion ps5 has had the best 6 months post launch support of any console ever launched and ratchet and clank is next. Sony is amazing because if it was any other publisher they would have delayed TLOU2 and Ghost to launch alongside next gen but they instead launched them before next gen and still had amazing games ready to go at launch

There is a reason playstation sells the most software, hardware and generates the more revenue. 3rd party publishers make the most money on PlayStation. PlayStation version of games mostly sell atleast 2-1 and many times account for 70+% of console sales

But I do believe Ms realized this and that is why they invested so heavily into acquisitions. Issue for them is most of those studios aren't ready to release games anytime soon so by the time they do finally start on regular release schedule this generation will be over and market share will once again tilt heavily towards PlayStation

GP in the long run could end up hurting big 3rd party publishers because Xbox gamers may get used to GP and won't see reasons to buy many games not available day one of GP in hopes for having them later on a service(this could end up being a big issue if big publishers are barely making enough on Xbox while making big profits on pc and playstation they may allocate their resources differently) GP is something Ms can have a lot of internal success with but won't be big money maker anytime soon especially at it's current price point (but it definitely provides amazing value for gamers and having day one Ms games is a huge thing)

Futureshark1080d ago

You do hear an awful lot "I'll wait till it's on gamepass" and "You can get gamepass for $1 if you know how" from Xbox owners.
Which is fair enough, that is a great deal for the customer, but you do have to wonder about the long term sustainability of that model, beyond the deep MS pockets of course.
Take the Bethesda acquisition, $7billion, Starfield now coming day 1 to gamepass.
Great news for gamepass fans that can get that game for $1, but how does that tally against the Beth $7Billion? Is there going to be a shedload of microtransactions there too? Who knows, but I assume MS have some sort of plan, perhaps aiming for next gen after this one when they believe we might be an entirely cloud based gaming ecosystem and are trying to hold a large consumer base until then.

Darkborn1080d ago

I think no matter what Xbox is fighting a super uphill battle. Last Gen was a big deciding factor in a lot of things. It was the first time gamers really went full digital. I only buy digital and I have movies and other stuff I bought digitally on psn. If I switched to Xbox I lose it all. Last Gen a ton of people switched to ps4 due to the botched launched, lack of focus and exclusives, weaker console, the list goes on. But beause a lot of them also want ps5s, it's telling.

neutralgamer19921080d ago

Darkborn

Great point. So many switched from ps3 to Xbox 360 Ms had big chunk of the market. But with last generation Ms lost all that and now a lot of those Xbox 360 owners are in playstation ecosystem along with their friends. And like you many have a large library of content on PlayStation which they aren't about to leave behind

Their best way to gain some market share in my opinion is when they release some of their big Blockbuster games especially Bethesda IP's. That's when they will hope that a lot of PlayStation gamers buy a Xbox and become part of their ecosystem. But a legit question is how many gamers would buy a brand new platform just to play fallout and elder scrolls (only talking about playstation fanbase, I have a Xbox One x I hope those games I can play on that if not I don't think personally I will buy a brand new system just to play those few games)

With family work and other expenses it's just not enough time to justify two premium consoles (my opinion)

"Looking at the numbers it seems backwards compatibility has zero influence ..."

lol. You best look closer at those numbers. TLOU2 is at no.3 and is beating new games like RE8. That's your argument dead but I'll go into more detail.

Why is TLOU2 at no.3 a year after release and beating RE8? Because the PS5 is backwards compatible and has allowed an amazing update to 60fps.

If the PS5 wasn't backwards compatible, it wouldn't be able to play online games that PS5 owners play in huge numbers (more than new games). PS players not being able to play Warzone, Apex, Siege, Rocket League, etc would have been a huge turnoff and would have prevented a smooth transition. Sony are fully aware of this, even if you deny and downplay it.

Your vendetta against backwards compatibility is not logical. It's just because MS focused on it a lot which is incredibly childish. Of course BC is not the top reason people buy a new console but it's an expected feature now and it would have been a bigger problem if the PS5 didn't have it than when the PS4 didn't have it. The PS5 would be a worse console without it

zebrahim1080d ago

Honestly, an average to good game (Spiderman). I was not blown away by the graphics when I got my PS5. When I showed my friends they stopped pursuing a PS5 purchase as a MUST have. I also have an Xbox series x...cue the fanboy hate. I got Gamepass and finished Halo5 both Forza games as well as Ori and the Will of the wisps. Great time. Both consoles are good. Just saying Spiderman did not blow me away. Sony and MS need to get away from the PS4/Xbox 1 cross gen system asap. Take the sales loss and promote customers to new consoles. Not great for early adopters.

Father__Merrin1080d ago

If spiderman didn't blow you away you have to list a game that did then compare graphics with spiderman

SavageFlamingo1080d ago

Yeah, MM had some of the best graphics I have ever seen. It makes me wonder how bad his TV or monitor is.

S2Killinit1080d ago

Seems like a double standard. MM didnt “blow him away” but he had “a great time” playing a bunch of old last gen games. He could have purchased all those games for les than the price of one game. Hell, he could have played the PS5 collection and he would be enjoying some of the best last gen games that existed, for free.

Darkborn1080d ago

He's probably like Jeff grub who said God of War was trash and crackdown 3 was a striaght 10.

LucasRuinedChildhood1080d ago (Edited 1080d ago )

There's no shortage of people who want a PS5 but I think there's some truth to the OP's comment when it comes to cross gen games. R&C:Rift Apart looks much more noticeably next gen because it's not a cross gen game and focuses solely on the PS5. Demon's Souls also has noticeably better graphics than MM.

I've actually bought Miles Morales and Returnal this week but can't play them quite yet because I've been hospitalized (eye issue) ... soon. haha. I even had them downloaded and ready to go. :(

So, I haven't played it just yet but MM's graphics don't look as next gen to me as launch games from previous gens. Resistance and Motorstorm blew my mind. Killzone SF still looks amazing to this day. They represented clear generational leaps. It doesn't look THAT much better than some of the better looking PS4 games, tbh (TLOU2, GOW, RDR2), especially if you played MM at 60fps at launch without RT which a lot of people did.

I'll probably be getting R&C a week or so after launch (don't want that Pixelizer pre-order bonus anyway) but I think it will better show off what the PS5 can do. Pretty sure I'm going to love all these games anyway. Wasn't a great time to decide to treat myself.

zebrahim1080d ago

Full fat 4k 60hz TV with HDR10, that's what I have for a TV. The issue is that the game looks like Spiderman PS4 with reflections that just didn't impress me (opinion). The day I launched I had quite a few friends over and well.....mmmm..crickets were heard..No..."wow". What did impress me as a launch game was Battlefield 4 on PS4. Now that was a stunner. Totally blew my freaking mind. These lollipop excursions with Spiderman MM lasted just long enough. Same systems as PS4. They could at least given you Iron Man to play as and out you in a new environment where the PS5 can be showcased with new and complex environments. Instead it's a PS4 game with a kick of paint.

ARE YOU INSANE!? looool Spider-Man MM is one of the best feats in computer graphics EVER!!! This isn't even an opinion... You must be playing on an old analogue tv because Jesus Christ what a dumb thing to say loool

Mr_Luke1080d ago

I can't believe what i read...

I don't understand if it's hatred against the game or against the console itself but the graphics of MM are great.
Or maybe it's the TV problem, the settings, i don't know. At this point i wonder to myself: "did the guy really tried the game or he just open Youtube?".

zebrahim1080d ago

Yes I played it finished. It became a chore. The last stage was preceded by a puzzle outside a large centre in order to get in. TV is full fat my brother. HDR 4k high end. The problem is perhaps you don't have enough experience. I'm playing games for 37 years. I know what a generational leap should be. If it's good for you, excellent. Enjoy the games!

Duke1977d ago (Edited 77d ago )

The definition of a game that seemed too ambitious for its own good. Glad Switch players get to give it a shot, but man looking back at that game is bittersweet for thinking what it probably could have been with more polish/time/funding

jznrpg77d ago

It’s not horrible but yeah, it could have been so much more.

got_dam77d ago

Too true. Tremendous amount of heart without the resources to fully realize the vision.

Kneetos76d ago

I'm all for a biomutant 2

Maybe taking place in a post apocalypse London or something
