The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf on Hold

Official game site: After recent technical evaluation of The Witcher: Rise of The White Wolf, CD Projekt RED has decided to suspend development of the project. This decision was made because the company saw a high risk that the final product will not meet the quality expectations of CD Projekt RED. We have already started to look for other possible solutions to address this situation.

IGN: Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf Details

Last year's PC game The Witcher was a surprise critical and commercial success, popping up out of nowhere to nab IGN PC's coveted RPG of the Year award and doing respectably well on the sales charts. As a follow-up, developer CDProjekt Red and publisher Atari are bringing the dark world of The Witcher to consoles this year.

But this is no quick-and-dirty port. The Poland-based developer has ripped the game down to the studs for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions. IGN recently chatted with the game's lead developer Adam Badowski about why the team chose to start completely over with The Witcher and what console gamers can expect from this unabashedly hardcore fantasy RPG.
