Fresh off the official announcement of The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf for PS3 and Xbox 360, developer CD Project RED and publisher Atari have released the first media.
Official game site: After recent technical evaluation of The Witcher: Rise of The White Wolf, CD Projekt RED has decided to suspend development of the project. This decision was made because the company saw a high risk that the final product will not meet the quality expectations of CD Projekt RED. We have already started to look for other possible solutions to address this situation.
Last year's PC game The Witcher was a surprise critical and commercial success, popping up out of nowhere to nab IGN PC's coveted RPG of the Year award and doing respectably well on the sales charts. As a follow-up, developer CDProjekt Red and publisher Atari are bringing the dark world of The Witcher to consoles this year.
But this is no quick-and-dirty port. The Poland-based developer has ripped the game down to the studs for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions. IGN recently chatted with the game's lead developer Adam Badowski about why the team chose to start completely over with The Witcher and what console gamers can expect from this unabashedly hardcore fantasy RPG.
A little over a year a game was launched for the PC that brought fresh ideas to the genre. It was The Witcher, an adventure game with roleplaying-inspired touches that was the majestic work of Andrzej Sapkowski. A year after its release the Polish company that created it has announced adaptations of the original game for next-generation consoles.
Nice trailer I can't wait to play this on the consoles. The PC version was great fun so I have no doubt this one will be great fun too.
