Ownership over the marketing of the Call of Duty franchise might not be quite as important as it was at the beginning of the PlayStation 4 generation, but it's still something worth having under your belt. Sony has held the rights to advertising Activision's mammoth first-person shooter series for more than four and a half years now, and it looks like that partnership is set to continue into the next generation of consoles
Microsoft & Xbox have shut down Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks to lay off more workers, insinuating that they're not in the game anymore.
They're headless for a long time because closing tango isn't exactly a good move
Everyone's acting now that game companies care about games and Xbox is committing the Ultimate betrayal, they are all like this and you have just been quiet about it for far too long
I wonder if Microsoft do pull out of the console market that it might open the door for valve to relaunch the Steambox. Competition is good for the industry but Microsoft don't even seem to be trying anymore.
“Your game has won some pretty significant awards and is a show piece for where we want to go in the future.”
1 hour later.
“We’re gonna have to let you go. You can’t cover our 100 billion dollar acquisition. Oh and take your awards too 👍🏾”
Sega has released its financial statement for the 2023-24 fiscal year, and profits may be up, but it's mostly not down to video games.
The Xbox brand is expanding, as an Xbox mobile game store is opening this coming July where Microsoft will brings its "first-party portfolio."
“Bond adds that they will start on the web”
This will go nowhere.
Nice knowing you Xbox. This is what happens when the house never gets cleaned.
The only this MS is expanding is the amount of feculence it sprays on everyone who just want to enjoy gaming and make games.
The best thing MS can do for the gaming industry is leave and never return.
Is only natural that Activision will stick with the number 1 console in the market.
We are going to see other new partnerships on the PS5 reveal.
Pretty sure Microsoft has their own online shooter they need to promote for that launch frame.. along with Cyberpunk marketing and whatever else is yet to come.
It only makes sense. CoD will sell to the same lemmings no matter who’s marketing it.
Microsoft’s should emphasize their power marketing and could maybe pull the ones who want the best possible experience. We’ll see come Digital Foundry
I can't believe gamers give two cents about who is marketing what. Just goes to show the sad state of affairs that brand fanboys drive.
Games should succeed and fail on their own based on quality not hype and marketing.
It's kinda irrelevant for Microsoft to market Call of Duty this year when they have Halo Infinity releasing on the same day as Xbox Series X.
This marketing deal is not as big as it use to be. Call of Duty sells equally good on both consoles.
