Bloodborne was definitely my favorite game of them all and one of the best games this gen. I hoped that Dark souls 3 or Sekiro would top it off but sadly they couldn't. We seriously need Bloodborne 2 to happen. This would be a killer exclusive for the PS5.

UltraNova1703d ago

Totally agree. Sekiro feels like a missed opportunity, not because it wasn't good(it was excellent) but we came to expect the best with DLC expansions in From games and we didn't get any with Sekiro...so in my book it feels "unfinished" like a rough diamond. Oh well, at least Nioh 2 is coming!

That said, I have extremely high hopes for Elden Ring and I can't wait for it, more than Cyberpunk dare I say!

DarkOcelet1703d ago

You know, i am really happy we are getting more games that are Souls like in general. We got Sekiro, Code Vein and The surge 2 this year and next year we get Elden Ring (hopefully) and Nioh 2. What a time to be alive!

UltraNova1703d ago (Edited 1703d ago )

Dark,

Remnant: From the Ashes was a surprise as well. I've put 55 hrs in it and still counting (3 playthroughs so far). If you are a fun of the Souls formula you should not miss this.

Current splitting my time between Remnant and Control. Next up will be Code Vein!!

naruga1703d ago (Edited 1703d ago )

Bloodborne is indeed the best of them all (with close second Demon Souls on PS3)..it has the best atmosphere gameplay and it is the most well worked of them all. if it had 1-2 minor art corrections (example.Vistas and Some wide environments to show the rest of the world or give elements about it ) imo would the be up there with legendary classics like Mario Sonic ,Halo Ce, MGS1 , Resi Evil 1 etcetce

QuackShot1703d ago

Agree 100%,

Bloodborne is my favourite game this generation along with MHW.

It's a testament to the games quality that many people are still playing the online even today many years after the games release.

I never struggle for players to co op with and can always find other players worlds to invade when I feel like being evil.

Edito1703d ago

Bloodborne is an amazing game that's for sure... but let's stop comparing it to Dark Souls or Sekiro because each game was made to please gamers in different ways and let's play each game for what it is and not play a game expecting to feel something that the game wasn't designed to provide... I for instance prefer Sekiro than Bloodborne and i'm really addicted to the game play, the sword play of Sekiro it's just amazing but I didn't bought the game expecting to find Bloodborne in it... Sorry but that is just stupid... Each game is it's own game...

DarkOcelet1702d ago

Who said I am complaining? I got over 200 hours in dark souls 3, finished it multiple times and the rest was either invading people or helping them. And in Sekiro I got over 60 hours and plan to do more playthroughs soon. I love them both immensely but I just found Bloodborne to be better, that's all lol. I only hoped that either those games could top Bloodborne for me personally but that doesn't mean I hate any of those games.

TheGamez1001703d ago

Bb2 for ps5 please damnit sony.

Sevir1702d ago

I think Sony knows the importance of what started with Demon's Souls and Bloodborne. Shu himself said anyone who knows him know how important that subgenre is to him and with him managing WWS I'm pretty sure convincing Miyazaki and Japan Studio to put out a sequel is definitely in the works.

MasterCornholio1702d ago

Didn't Miyazaki say it's up to Sony?

I'm pretty sure Miyazaki is willing to make a sequel even if it's stuck on one platform.

oakshin1703d ago (Edited 1703d ago )

Demon souls no understanding of the formula no mass popularity of the series so no internet to hold your hand just a game that hardly anyone knew existed to kick you in the nuts and have you stuck at the beginning for a week solid and everything to come after that slowly made the series easier and that took away from the experience that I loved about it .......I mean what are you going to do when you play a game for the first time with 0 tutorials? Your going to die then you respawn with half health right off the bat boom deal with with it love it get good noob welcome to your nightmare

RabbitFly1703d ago

Which is understandable. For some there is never going to be something like the first time.

However there are some very real arguments to be made about how the design has improved. Or at the very least evolved.

Demon's Souls was f. ex. very linear, something which dark souls and bloodborne tried to change up and Bloodborne's Central Yharnam is, from software's, epitah of that. Arguable to best level in any soulslike game. The way it slithers around and connects back with itself. The way it lets you unlock shortcuts but also constantly gives you different ways of experiencing it. It is a masterclass in level design, and nothing in Demon's Souls come anywhere close to it. As level design is arguably Demon's Souls weakest part.

I am sure many can give you some good arguments on combat and progression systems too.

Anyways. Just some food for thought.

I really can relate to the sensation of something never living up to the first time you experience it. But I still think Bloodborne is the better game.

oakshin1702d ago

Bloodborne didn't have the freedom of playstyle for me personally and the level design in demon souls I thought challenged your ability to make a balance build and gear but ultimately for me the first time thing you mention and the fact it was the most punishing of the games gives it the edge over dark souls 1

william_cade1703d ago

There were youtube tutorials of this game around it's release (April 2009). Let's not pretend it was made during the magazine and phone forum days.

oakshin1702d ago

Yea that's when I got it off gamefly

william_cade1703d ago

The only plat I have gotten so far. The game is up there with the best this gen.

Vanfernal1703d ago

Makes sense. Demon's Souls was an experimental project. Dark Souls, let's face it, it's basically a Demon's Souls sequel. And Sekiro was pretty much a Tenchu game originally. So Bloodborne was the only project he had free reign to do everything the way he wanted. After spending so much time with the game and researching lore it has become my favorite game of all time.

LegoIsAwesome1703d ago

You and me both. That transforming weapons, transforming boss phase, that gothic/horror setting. How can you not love the game. Sad he didn't create a sequel for that instead we got Sekiro, which I love but BB will always be the best.

Spurg1703d ago

Nice try.
Dark souls is his magnum opus. He said that Bloodborne was the one that marked him the most. Dark souls has everything he wanted which was inspired by berserk. Dark souls has a coherent story throughout and doesnt cut corners which Bloodborne does. Also, the main aspect that has yet to be outdone which is the level design of Dark Souls. No Fromsoft games since had been able to replicate or improve that formula.

AsunaYuukiTheFlash1702d ago

Bloodborne is the best game he ever made. Period!

With Kojima gone, a lot is riding on Konami's revival of Metal Gear.

Not really, Konami is basically in name only and like so many other Japanese studios that have come and gone they are just going to be an IP troll and milk that cow until it is dry. Also one of the advertised features is playing the game from a different camera view while everything else remains the same will just result in making the game easier like what happened with Twin Snakes.

Cacabunga17h ago(Edited 17h ago)

If this turns out good and gamers support it we will get the other ones.. i really hope we get MGS original in zanzibar, Peace Walker and Portable Ops remakes after this one.. they are related with naked snake

Portable Ops was sooooooo good and underrated

gold_drake14h ago(Edited 14h ago)

Konami might not be super active in the videogame business anymore, or less, but they still make a ton of money with their collections and pachinko machines.

and their castlevania series on netflix is really successful also.

just_looken12h ago

@jinsing

Your dislikes shows this sites situation

Konami has been doing all of that for years now like there contra games or mgs ports

mgs survive anyone

isarai21h ago

When are people going to learn that all Konami is doing with these games Is licensing them out? They are not trying to revive their game development Branch and they are not the ones developing this. It is studios that came to them and asked to use the license to make a game and they have been doing this pretty much since MGSV

jeromeface18h ago

Remaking all his work reaks of desperation. The only reason they are getting away with it is everyones deep love for the series. If delta is successful (which as of right now it should be), they'll be sure to remake all of them.

Redgrave17h ago

Big shoes to fill, and compared to SH2 - this is as much a 1:1 remake as you can get. You can still see the PS2 bones in the movements and how the cutscenes have the same angles. If anything, I'd have preferred the reverse.... with SH2 being closer to a 1:1 remake but prettier, and have MGS3 have a little more freedom.

Ideally, MGS3 with a MGSV skin in terms of gameplay and freedom of approach. This is more like a high budget remaster than a remake. Having recently replayed the Bluepoint remaster, this is going to be like that same experience but even prettier.

But, as with both MGS3 and SH2, nearly impossible shoes to fill if not outright so. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Such is the legacy of these GOAT titles.

Inverno16h ago

It's a one to one remake, using the same voice recordings too. Not a reimagining, no new content thus far announced, just a straight remake of a game that already exists, but now with prettier graphics. There's no revival, they proved they can't make anything related to MG after Survival. They'll just remake all the games and people will eat it up.
