Amazon has opened preorders for the Early Enrollment Edition of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III.

I love the LoH series, but seeing as they haven't released ToCS 1 and 2 here yet, I can wait.

At least I know the third part will be reduced in price by the time the others drop.

Damn fact check before being so silly. The first 2 are on ps3 and ps Vita as well as PC already in NA and EU.
Also trails of Cold Steel 1 literally releases tomorrow lol and the 25th in EU

Trails of Cold Steel 2 releases March 19th in North America and Europe.
Those are the PS4 release dates

Cold steel 3 is fall
XSEED did 1 and 2
NIS America did 3. But hired the same translators and likely the same casting

Ohh and Cold Steel 1 and 2 never dropped price at all on ps3, Vita or pc, this is likely to be the same situation here

So do you need to play the first two to understand this one? Really been wanting to try this series out.

They games are definitely recommended but I believe it will give you a rundown on what's going on if you choose. The more games you played in the Legend of Heroes series, the more lore you'll understand. Like Estelle from Trails in the Sky making an appearance in this game which is based I believe about 5 years after Trails in the Sky. So you see her as a Vet as opposed to her games. You'd likely never realize she was the main character of 2 games and the movie otherwise.
Essentially every game adds to the story. But everyone has a story that can essentially be played alone.
The first 2 are on ps Vita ps3 and pc as well as Releasing on ps4 tmrw and March 19th for the second title
