I want to be but I'm worried it's just a expanded, console Fallout Shelter...we saw nothing other then the Vault.

if it is I'd be annoyed a new game after Fallout 4 is not a full on single player Fallout title like New Vegas but just building game.

Actually I'd be ok with a beefed up Fallout Shelter. I could never be bothered to finish the last Fallout, and it's exceedingly rare for me to not finish a game. I think I'm almost done, I just need to pick which faction to side with. I just lost interest as the story wasn't very interesting.

If they are going to do another traditional style Fallout then they need to have a better story, dialog, voice acting and more compelling characters. It could really do with a shakeup of the Fallout formula. I don't want to have another Preston sending me on endless, pointless missions.

It's already been reported it's just a Fallout 4 asset flip with nothing but the building system barely anyone liked. If you are expecting a single player RPG prepare to stay far away because you won't find that here. I should just say, if you are a fan of Fallout, stay away from this.

Well prepare to be disappointed again because a new Elder scrolls isn't even in development since ESO is doing so well. That was part of the same leaks that revealed this game and Rage 2

Vault 76 is a control vault, meaning no strange experiments happened in it. Vault 76 was also designed to open 20 years after the end of the war but the Pip Boy in the trailer says it's the year 2102 which is 25 years after the war. Also, supposedly takes place in West Virginia. Speculate if you will.

I'm hoping for no voiced protagonist and actual skill checks if this is to be compared to a main level entry.

Gameplay of 4, RP elements of New Vegas and the sense of dread and hopelessness of 3 would make a perfect Fallout game but I don't trust Bethesda to deliver that dream. We'll see at E3.

I'd like that aswell but I can't see them doing that with an online game, too many other things online wise to think about. Unlike what people think it's not about pressing a few buttons and adding some code to allow co-op or online play.

I can't imagine them releasing Starfield the same time as a Fallout game online or not...not to mention they usually reveal their games coming the same year. Can you honestly see Bethesda release a huge new single player game like Starfield so close to Red Dead Redemption 2? I can't...they'd want to be "big guns" out of anything in that release window

I would have much preferred a New Vegas style game or even 3/New Vegas remastered but I'm still at least curious about this game even if it is mp.

However Bethesda has completely followed that article about "saving single player games". Besides Sony first party who else has emphasized single player games like Bethesda? Wolfenstein, DOOM, Dishonored, Evil Within, Prey, Fallout, ES, Rage, multiple of those being fairly risky concepts, multiple of those getting sequels even if sales didn't match the critical acclaim. A few non AAA SP games by non-major Bethesda studios and we're gonna act like they haven't stuck the claim of "saving single player" smh

I'm assuming this is the game from the ex Battlecry guys (now Bethesda Austin). So multiplayer would make sense. With them revealing this and Rage 2 before E3 I'm predicting something pretty big to be revealed during their show, either ES6 or Starfield and maybe even released this year. Their last show emphasized every game shown was released that year. As of now I don't know what they have for this year.

Interesting that the date on the Pipboy is October 27th, 2102. That's 59 years before Fallout 1, 139 years before fallout 2, 175 years before Fallout 3 and 185 years before Fallout 4. This will be the earliest Fallout yet, only 25 years after the bombs dropped.

I read this somewhere:

Vault 76 was mentioned in fallout 3 and 4. According to the citadel list, 76 was a control vault (no experiments) with 500 occupants planned to stay closed only 20 years. it was not known to have any special equipment for a reclamation day.

The location is also significant: the Virginias are adjacent to what would become the Capital Wasteland, so I wouldn't be surprised if Vault 76 houses important government officials and valued civilians like scientists, historians, military, etc.

BGS only really started expanding when developing FO4(developed with just a little over 100 developers) and that was for the mobile game FO shelter. Since then yes, they’ve acquired significantly more talent and I believe have just over 300 developers in total. Considering FO4 launched in 2015 and they’ve only recently been accruing additional talent there’s no way they are working on more than 2 AAA titles and obviously FO76 is one of them. The ES is the series that made BGS what it is today, waiting 10+ years for a sequel is ridiculous.

They have Bethesda game studios proper (Maryland), Bethesda Game Studios Montreal and Bethesda Game Studios Austin. This isn't fully Bethesda Game Studio proper is what I mean, from what we know the lead developer on this is Bethesda Austin who used to be BattleCry so that leaves Bethesda Game Studios still predominantly working on their big game I would assume, which is either ES6 or Starfield, and I believe whichever it is will be shown at E3 and release soon like Fallout 4 did.

The 300 developer number was in reference to the new studios they’ve acquired, as in total between the 3. And like I said there’s no way they’re working on more than 2 new AAA games with this FO76 being one of them. I expect Starfield to be the other title as well(where the Maryland studio is focused), but after the comments made by BGS not wanting to constantly swap between ES, FO, ES, FO etc I’m just a little annoyed that we’re already getting a new FO game when we won’t be getting a new ES game till who knows when.

Ok yea I agree. I'm split on whether I think it will be ES6 or Starfield tho. At this point I'm convinced Starfield was or is a serious thing, there is/was too much smoke for there to be no fire, so that along with some of Bethesda's recent comments would leave me to believe Starfield before ES6. But...these games Bethesda's playing with ES6 aren't really all that different to what they did leading up to Fallout 4. People will buy ES6 in Mass whenever it comes out but if Starfield is first, they show it at E3 and it comes out 2018/2019 that puts ES6 out in 2022/2023. Do they want to wait that long? Especially putting off such a proven IP for one that isn't?

Lemme throw a few facts your way:
-Vault 76 was already mentioned in canon in Fallout 3 within the Citadel's computers. It is one of Vault-Tec's control vaults, so it was meant to work exactly as intended: a population of 500 vault dwellers with supplies and technology to support them for 25 years until the vault's eventual opening post-bomb.
-The game is set in West Virginia, a literal stone's throw away from Washington DC.
-The year 2076 has massive significance to the Fallout timeline. 2076 is the American tri-centennial, the date fo the creation of the T-51b Power Armor, the date of the beginning of the American offensive on Anchorage and the annexation of Canada.
-One year later, The Great War happens, as well as some very important events: John Henry Eden goes online, the FEV outbreak at Mariposa, Robert House goes into stasis, Robert Maxson and his crew go into seclusion, etc.

All these facts hint that this game might be THE most significant game in the series lorewise of the entire franchise, and the physical and temporal setting of the game makes me think that we might be looking at the origin of the Enclave as the main story.

All the talk about the engine like this is cod or something the creation engine is from 2011 compare that with what other studios are using and is in par in terms of age.

Rage engine is first debuted in rockstar table tennis from 2006 and is powering red dead 2 spectacularly.
Cod uses an engine from 1999 and ww2 actually looked quite nice in 4k

It's not cutting edge but it's also not dated either personally I'd take an older engine so they can produce more titles on it I'm getting over devs trying to build new engines constantly which significantly delays titles just one engine every generation or two is fine
