Was Gran Turismo 7 just leaked by GameStop?

It’s been about 7 months since the latest instalment in the Gran Turismo series, Gran Turismo: Sport but fans are all hoping that the long-awaited Gran Turismo 7 is somewhere in the near future. A post on NeoGaf today suggests that an announcement may be just around the corner…

AspiringProGenji2229d ago

Oohh interesting! Hopefully it is true

-Foxtrot2229d ago

I'm just glad they aren't counting GT Sport as GT7

I feel like they didn't want another GT Prologue so gave it a different name, I mean with GT Sport and that kind of subtitle I thought they were going to lean on being more of an arcade racer spin off to try new things but they never did it.

S2Killinit2229d ago

I think GT "Sport" was meant to be a racer specifically targeted at competitive gaming. Thus the moniker "Sport" as in competition. But then they realized that people were hungry for a GT game that included single player, so they included one in it.

rainslacker2229d ago

I think GT:S does a lot more than what prologue ever did. It was geared towards an online competitive racer. People's expectations were that it would be the next GT, and it really wasn't. Disappointing for those that wanted a new GT, but it is what it is.

I'd be happy with GT7 though.

bouzebbal2229d ago

Many call gt sports GT7.

indyman77772228d ago (Edited 2228d ago )

Gran turismo is the best racer. Don't hit me but I would like it if they take out the low powered cars and what feels like grinding, at the start. After that it is gravy! But it is by far the best racer ever!

We all know that after GT Sport a full Gran Turismo is coming. But considering the game hasn't been revealed yet Sony wouldn't have sent out promotional material to stores - there would be too high a risk of it being leaked. So, put this box art down to creative/BS-ing Gamestop staff!

CaptainOmega2229d ago (Edited 2229d ago )

Hopefully it's true..Sport added GT League but it's not the same as a proper career mode that is an RPG for cars.

Although GT Sport looks amazing and the cars handle/look/ feel better than the previous games, I think 7 needs a big update to its graphics engine. I think Sport is the epitome of a maxed out engine that hs been used for 3 main title games. The game needs a breath o fresh air in terms of how it looks and feels, (like going from GT 2 to 3).

imagine a Driveclub looking/sounding game but with GT's attention to detail and driving physics. It would be insane.

The Wood2229d ago

Drive club was so underrated

Movefasta19932229d ago

terrible physics, gt always had better handling. Not suprised driveclub flopped.

CaptainOmega2229d ago

@Movefasta

Well, your comment is troll level considering Driveclub was more arcade racer than driving sim,

Movefasta19932229d ago

Driveclub had terrible physics, there are many arcade racers with good physics like grid, forza, pgr and motorstorm. Driveclub cars barely have weight to them, the handling model sucks. It could have looked like real life and the devs still would have lost their jobs.

FPS_D3TH2229d ago

Driveclub was great as an arcade racer. Not a simulation racing game whatsoever.

The Wood2229d ago

Was never a sim. It was more of an arcade racer. Sony already have a sim. . DC had an emphasis on drifting for pete sake. . I appreciate it for what it was. . . It may have lacked content at launch but that doesn't bother some people around here if you catch my drift

IRetrouk2229d ago

@move, it plays exactly like pgr4, are you sure you played it???

nix2229d ago

GT Sports was amazing. I've never spent so much of time on online racing.. Ever. Considering I hate mp racing games.

Only sad part about the progressive level is that it came out so late that I already had better cars to race and I had so much of money that I really wasn't struggling like how I used to in regular GT games.

NarooN2229d ago

Drive Club STILL looks absolutely jaw-dropping by today's standards. Imagine what that studio could've done with the Pro or a PS5.

AmstradAmiga2229d ago

You think Driveclub would have looked that good if it had been running in 60fps?

_FantasmA_2229d ago

Driveclub was amazing. It was supposed to be a fun game, not a realistic game. Looks sexy too. I like GT Sport, it's my first GT game. Midnight Club was the only racing series I liked and that paved the way for me to get into other arcade games like Project Gotham and then Driveclub. I will check out GT7 for sure.

sizeofyou2229d ago

Do you think anyone who likes the game cares? Yes - 60 would've been great, but there was no lack of response and the sense of speed (with the amazing richness of detail) was incredible. I still drop in and out of it, leave challenges for friends.

One game I would've supported as "a service". Desperately wanted a season 2 pass that doubled locations and cars. Would still support it now!

IRetrouk2229d ago

Gt sports game engine is brand new for sport, built from scratch for the ps4, its only been used by gt sport so far.

sizeofyou2229d ago

Aren't the car models all done to 8K to allow enhanced inclusion in further releases (such as PS5/6/7!).
While I appreciate that GT Sport was more online focused, don't know why they don't release a season pass and develop Sport further for on and offline. I'd support a "defined" roadmap service that added tracks tournaments and cars in equal measure. Don't see the point of GT7 if they could add content to Sport.

Don't get me wrong, GT7 as a combine on and offline game on PS5 at some point would be a joy.
But again GT Sport PS5 "as a service" would better IMO!

IRetrouk2229d ago

Yeah they mentioned that the engine can scale right up to 8k, i do think there will be a gt7, more traditional than sport but i dont think its anytime soon, loving sport so far, well over 100 hours logged on just the single player stuff, not been online once yet lol.

porkChop2229d ago

Less than a year ago Yamauchi said GT7 wasn't even planned. So there's no way it's being announced soon.

CaptainOmega2229d ago

"Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi confirmed in an interview with Japanese publication Game Watch that work on the next Gran Turismo instalment has begun. “[I] cannot talk about anything yet, but since the moment of releasing GT [Sport], I have started making the next GT,” Yamauchi said.

yomfweeee2229d ago

Porkchop's point still stands. If it wasn't evened planned a year ago, it isn't releasing soon.

porkChop2229d ago

And the point of your comment was?

“Gran Turismo 7 is not currently planned. All our studios are focused on Gran Turismo Sport and, once it is out, the DLC that follows afterwards.”

- Yamauchi, last August in an interview.

While the game is in development now, and started *after* GT Sport, it's been in development for 6 months or less. So, like I said, it isn't being announced any time soon.

CaptainOmega2229d ago

*Announcing soon*. You don't know that. He could have downplayed GT 7's development so more people would buy GT Sport. It could be announced at this years E3 and release early with the PS5.

Einhander19712229d ago

I Agree the graphics are great but there’s always something missing they need to up the graphics engine. Drive club still outpaces it.

Movefasta19932229d ago

30fps, jesus christ people. GT also has twice the amount of cars on track.

chaos-emeralds2229d ago

And forza has twice amount the cars again and still looks better. Plus the fact is has more tracks and dynamic weather.

CaptainOmega2229d ago

Chaos, why isn't anyone buying Forza then?

Aura75412229d ago

@Chaos

Watch Digital Foundry's GT Sport vs Forza 7 video. GT Sport holds a candle to Forza 7's PC version on ultra settings and even exceeds it in certain aspects.

chaos-emeralds2229d ago

The cars on GTSPORT don't even look or feel like they are on the track. My problem with it was that plus the road textures as well. I drive real cars, but I couldn't drive GTSPORT. Yes it looks pretty, but imo forza has always played and looked better. Drive club looks amazing and I enjoyed that for what it is.

Yeah...but driveclub is 30fps... No racing simulator should ever be under 60fps

Cars, and more cars... Yet, they rarely add new locations where we can drive all those cars... smh.

MajorLazer15d ago

We may get a new track this update. The teaser never hints at anything more than the cars, gotta wait for the trailer to know more.

IRetrouk15d ago

There's over 110 layouts in the game, you raced em all? I know I haven't and I have 900 hours playtime

Gardenia15d ago

With the daily races they only use 4 tracks it feels like.

IRetrouk13d ago

That's true, cant lie lol, but I assume you have buddy's to play online with, if not, I got a group you can join, we race every weekend, tracks are random, we even throw weather in sometimes lol

CobraKai15d ago

Wow. That’s one entitled ass comment.

Gabrielmpf14d ago

I paid €70 for way less content than the previous Gran Turismo. Yeah, I'm entitled. Bunch of PS cult boys.

CobraKai14d ago

Wah wah wah. I can’t get more free stuff than what they’re giving me. Wah wah wah

Father__Merrin15d ago

Truly a purchase once and last all gen type of game

purple10115d ago

yes it is!, however I do hope they have a GT8 ready soon, because 7 its a cross gen, so there's more to be extracted for sure,

Babadook715d ago

Ok, sure. I’ll take more. There’s a lot of tracks already

Sgt_Slaughter15d ago

When you boil down the layouts/configurations, it's 38 tracks. Of those, only 19 are real-life tracks. That's a pretty low amount when there's hundreds of thousands of circuits that are available to add.

Babadook715d ago (Edited 15d ago )

That’s not low though. I don’t have a big preference for real world either, as GT7 has some very good original tracks too.
