Can't wait to play this in True Native 4k 60fps

DarkVoyager2252d ago

I could care less about 4K but I really wish the game run at 60fps on consoles. I hate 30fps for any first person game.

JaguarEvolved2252d ago (Edited 2252d ago )

I'll be getting the pc version of this game to play it in 4k 60fps or more. I don't mind if a game runs at 30 and dips in 20s or so as long as the game is good. I'd rather play certain games the best way possible but playing games with lower frames isn't a big deal breaker. You'd be limiting yourself if you only want to play games at 4k or 60fps or higher because a lot of amazing games run at 30fps. Even the 1800p on Xbox is going to be good for this game because the game looks amazing

Gaming_1st2251d ago

@DarkVoyager

What you meant to say was, "I couldn't care less".

bluefox7552251d ago

Same, it's weird how anti-60fps many console gamers seem to be. If more of us would demand 60fps, developers would start prioritizing it.

Mithan2251d ago (Edited 2251d ago )

I play 1440p on my PC at 120 or 144hz, love it. Frame Rate matters. 4k is nice, but I will take a slightly lower resolution and higher frame rates any day of the week.

1200-1800p and 50-60fps is much better than 4k at 25-35 FPS with large drops.

Besides, most people are sitting so far from their TV they can't tell the difference between a few hundred lines of resolution anyways. At 10feet away, you don't see 1800 vs 2160.

81BX2251d ago

@bluefox
Don't lump us all in together lol

Imalwaysright2251d ago

Framerate over resolution or graphics any day of the week as gameplay at 60 fps or above is better than gameplay at 30 fps. Naughty Dog which is one of the most respected studios in this industry went as far as saying that gameplay at 30 fps felt broken compared 60 fps when they released TloU remaster.

MadLad2251d ago

I play on PC, and really put a lot of time between upgrades. I've had to result to locking the games at a lower framerate than 60, and have found that 45 really is the sweet spot between 30 and 60. I don't see the big difference between it and 60, but it feels a so much smoother than 30. Had to do this for Mankind Divided.

iplay1up22251d ago

XB1X, does run at a better frame rate than the base XB1 XB1S, and PS4, higher resolution too 1800p. If you have a base console, I would guess 30fps. Because its open world.

TheCommentator2251d ago

60FPS is unnecessary. Gameplay and animation are smooth enough at 30FPS and the extra power is better used for more density in the world than extra FPS. IF you're talking about 60FPS for control then I can see the benefits of better precision but controller input can be decoupled from the visual frame rate if a developer chooses, and when this is done both better control and better looking worlds can coexist.

See: Forza Horizon at 30FPS for visuals and 360FPS for physics.

mikeslemonade2251d ago

1. Far Cry series is lame and boring.

2. And there lies the problem with these console because 4k is hard to do and they can’t make it 1440p because people use TVs that don’t support that resolution.

cd12251d ago

@mike

It doesn't matter that TVs don't support 1440p, PS4 Pro upscales everything to 4K anyway - its just the higher the original rez is the better the final image will appear. Battlefield1 running at ~1440p still looks class!

DarkVoyager2251d ago

@TheCommentator

“60FPS is unnecessary”

“See: Forza Horizon at 30FPS for visuals and 360FPS for physics.”

See: Forza Horizon at 60fps for visuals and 360fps for physics.

As Digital Foundry said it’s much more fluid and responsive.

kreate2250d ago

I don't have a 4K tv yet. I feel like 1080p is good enough. At least for now.

I saw a Xbox one x at a mall kiosk running forza in 4K and I was not impressed at all.

It's really hard to justify the price for me.

ProjectVulcan2250d ago

"I've had to result to locking the games at a lower framerate than 60, and have found that 45 really is the sweet spot"

Just goes to show how PC gives you the option, and options are nice. Usually if you have a monitor that supports high refresh hertz Gsync/Freesync or not you can lock it wherever you want.

Sometimes if I can't hit the mega resolutions and settings I want solidly 60FPS in games I will do a trade off and run a game at 50FPS if it means it'll stay locked there. It's superb. Far superior to 30FPS, not so noticeably below 60FPS, but totally consistent. Ahh the wonders of PC gaming....

joshljr2250d ago

@BlueFox775
Its not that we're anti 60 fps, it's that the media tells us we want 4K. So of course it gives the fanboys something to argue about. So of course, that's where the time gets spent.

Myself personally though, don't particularly care about 60fps or 4k. 1080 @ 30 has suited me for years and until I get a 4k TV, I can't miss what I've never had.

TheCommentator2250d ago

@ Dark Voyager

Mind providing a link? There's no one at all, anywhere, saying that it PLAYS better on PC when I search, "Forza Horizon 3 plays better on PC", and I'm not wasting half of my day watching all the DF videos just to see if they said it at any point in time. ATM, it looks like you're full of it...

Slurms2252d ago

That's mighty presumptuous for a Ubi game.

Nitrowolf22251d ago

"True native 4k"

But 1800p is below that.......

zivtheawesome2251d ago

i'm pretty sure that was his point.

Brazz2251d ago (Edited 2251d ago )

He's talking about pc dude, i think...

blitz06232251d ago

PC can run it at native 4k 60

Brian76554922251d ago

Of course he's talking about pc. If the Xbox One X is better than the PS4 the natural response is to then start talking about the PC, didn't you know that? They think by doing this it keeps money out of Microsoft's hands (which is the common theme here) but in reality Sony wants your money from third party support too. In fact they rely on it.

Good for you. I’d rather play on my couch on a 70 inch tv with a controller

mkis0072251d ago

Thats how I play my pc games. Not that hard to route an Hdmi cable.

81BX2251d ago

That's crazy dude. How far do you sit? I used to play on 32" but I trained my self to play on 40"s. I couldn't imagine 70"

Imalwaysright2251d ago

How come are so many gamers ignorant about PC gaming in 2018? PC is the only platform that allows you to play your games in any way you want to.

Playing on your couch on a 70 inch tv with a controller? Check
Playing with keyboard and mouse? Check
Playing with VR? Check
Playing on the go even if it isn't confortable? Check (as long as you have a laptop)
Playing with other peripherals such as wheel or a flight stick? Check

Consoles have some of these options but none of them have all of them.

Aceman182251d ago (Edited 2251d ago )

I'll be enjoying it on the Pro because I'm not that anal like some of the ppl on this site lol. It will still look beautiful on my 65" 4k OLED lol.

And I won't be losing any sleep not playing it on the so called most "powerful" console in the universe 😂😂

2251d ago
Aceman182251d ago

Well PSmaster I'm not really big into gaming on PCs and I originally had an X1 before selling because it lacked games I wanted to play.

So all my gaming is done on Pro and Switch.

combatcash2251d ago

Just like people playing on base hardware, won't lose any sleep either. I have a pro, but will be picking it up on my X instead. And honestly if you weren't being (anal) you'd probably be gaming on a base ps4

Aceman182251d ago

It amazes me how ppl get triggered over comments on here lol.

81BX2251d ago

@Aceman18
I'm the same except my go to console is the X. Enjoy the game on ps4. From all the footage I've seen the ps4 version looks amazing

2251d ago
rainslacker2251d ago (Edited 2251d ago )

No sane person loses sleep over resolution or frame rate. Doesn't matter what system they game on. They have what they have, and that's usually what most have for an extended period of time. That's why the games are the most important thing.

Hmm funny how so many people have 4k 60fps pcs on here. Anyway I'll be happy with my 1080p-1440p 60+fps. Seriously should have a 60 fps mode on Xbox one x I knowncpu limited but shiny graphics look better with smooth motion.

pwnmaster30002251d ago

Not gonna lie, I never really see the difference and I’m not trying to be a fanboy. Maybe I’m just to casual I guess lol

BenRC012250d ago

LMAO, guarantee NONE of you have a pc good enough o play this at 4k/60

Just putting it out there:
The pre-order page in the Xbox Store states it as 4K UHD & HDR

OpenGL2251d ago

That kind of stuff refers only to the output resolution and format, not the actual native rendering resolution. Check the box of any game that's not native 1080p and you'll see it still says 1080p on the back, like Quantum Break.

GtPawnSacrifices2250d ago (Edited 2250d ago )

Disagree:
1# Xbox games don’t list resolutions on the game box.
(Unless it is enhanced to 4K, in which check this out:)
https://m.gamestop.com/prod...
(Top right: 4K/HDR)
2# Quanum Break was released over a year before the X1X.
& wouldn’t be listed anyway as 4K assets added afterward.
Plus, not all games use assets, most are simply ‘unlocked’ and rendered in 4K (cod ww2, Titanfall etc)

But the preorder screen I referred to lists available features with HDR & 4K under ‘enhanced features’
I said this because if a game doesn’t offer native 4K (as every game not possessing 4K is upscaled to 4K) doesn’t list it as a feature.

OpenGL2249d ago (Edited 2249d ago )

It's the same thing on Xbox One X enhanced games dude, you will never see a box say 1800p on the back because it's fucking meaningless for consumers. They only put the supported output resolutions on the box, it's not the same thing. They might be using it to mean it's a game that has an enhanced resolution for 4K TVs but it definitely does not mean they're guaranteeing native 4K.

rainslacker2249d ago (Edited 2249d ago )

Yeah....remember when Sony got sued over that, and people claimed Sony was being misleading? They got quite a bit of flack over that....and even lost a lawsuit. What was that technique they used for that again? Wasn't it checkerboarding? The same technique that will be used here....but with a different name? Or is it just upscaled....and not even sparse rendering?

Funny how a few years can change things, where some people will still claim that checkerboarding isn't a native 4K resolution(when technically it is), all while saying that the stuff on the back of the box is just supported output resolutions. If it's meaningless to a lot of consumers, then why were they sued over it, and why did Xbox fans go into a frenzy to have the chance to cast Sony in a bad light?

Seems kind of dumb to put that on the back of the box though, since all games will output at the resolution supported by the TV, even when you use options to use a lower resolution render. They'll just be upscaled. Only thing setting it lower in the settings will do is allow the TV to upscale, but technically, every game can output from the system at 4K. No reason to list that on the box....except it looks good doesn't it? That's why it's there...because it gives the impression of doing more than it actually can. 1800p means nothing to the consumer....4K is fancy though ain't it?

Would love some interesting reasons why this is in no way the same thing though.

4 wasn’t so bad

Pagan Min was pretty entertaining

Skuletor61d ago

Yeah, 4 was good, was hard choosing which Golden Dawn member to side with, when they were both pieces of sh!t.
I've beaten all the main entries except 2 and 6, ended up uninstalling 6 to download something else instead.

Profchaos62d ago

I'd love a far cry pack with the original PC game (not the half assed port on ps360) instincts, predator even a port of far cry 2 to modern consoles back when these games had their own identity and weren't far cry 3 cut and pastel

Demetrius61d ago

Still one of my most favorite franchises along with assassins creed

banger8861d ago (Edited 61d ago )

Same here, I don't know why these games get so much hate. I've thoroughly enjoyed every single one of them, with only a couple of exceptions. I wish they'd hurry up and announce Far Cry 7. The only thing I'm concerned about is the rumoured time limit.

Far Cry 5 Has Surpassed 30 Million Players Worldwide

The 2018 first-person shooter has reached this milestone exactly 5 years after its initial release.

Profchaos412d ago

When you're free on every single service it's eventually going to happen.

Profchaos412d ago

Part of PS plus at the moment

ChasterMies412d ago

Far Cry 5 is “free” if you pay for PS+ Extra.

gangsta_red412d ago

Going to have to try and get back into Far Cry. The formula for Far Cry may be fun, but it gets repetitive very fast.

Demetrius412d ago

Been playing this series since far cry 3 I love the adventuring vibe this series gives off even far cry primal is so good, but experiencing far cry 5 in 60 fps crisp graphics on ps5 for the first time is dope it adds life to it, I wana give far cry 6 a second chance couldn’t get into it at first I wonder if it’s worth it

Far Cry 5 in native 60 FPS - available for PS5 & Xbox Series consoles now

Far Cry 5 Official Twitter: "You've been waiting long enough… Welcome to Hope County! Experience Far Cry 5 in native 60 FPS - available for PS5 & Xbox Series consoles … NOW! Far Cry 5 will also have a FREE WEEKEND from March 23-27 on all consoles & PC. Enjoy!"

banger88426d ago

Damn. I replayed it recently on SX with fps boost, and to achieve that they had to downgrade the resolution. Game played great but looked like ass. Wish I had've waited.

blackblades425d ago (Edited 425d ago )

So you saying fps boost lowers the resolution to achieve 60fps? Cause that culteastwitch was praising in a fanboy cok suking way.

Darkwatchman425d ago

It depends on the game. Some keep Xbox One X resolution. Others drop to base Xbox One resolution and settings.

Knushwood Butt425d ago

Nice
Waiting to play this on Extra but have had too much else to play.
So is this a native PS5 version or does the PS4 version run at 60fps on PS5?

Jin_Sakai425d ago

As expected, Far Cry 5 will now run at 60 frames-per-second on PS5,

“as part of a patch that optimises the PS4 game on Sony's new-gen console.”

Knushwood Butt425d ago

Downloading now. I might do a bit of pancake gaming this weekend.

Eidolon425d ago

Not native PS5. But still looked pretty good on PS4 Pro, and at a solid 60fps, definitely a good experience. Sadly games can't break out of PS4 Pro resolutions, for some reason.

LucasRuinedChildhood425d ago

PS4 games can run 2-2.5 times better on PS5. They're basically just changing the framerate cap to take advantage of that. They could actually change the resolution but it might affect the framerate - it's not a native PS5 game so it can't properly take advantage of the hardware. 1620p isn't bad, tbh.

Eidolon425d ago

Was really hoping to read that New Dawn would be upgraded as well. :( Already beat Far Cry 5 + and only like 1 hr into New Dawn.

KeeseToast425d ago (Edited 425d ago )

Pretty nice 👍
Now we’ll only need fps boost for:
Arkham Knight
Bloodborne
The Last Guardian
Assassin‘s Creed Unity
Shadow of the Colossus
Gravity Rush 2

Did I forget something?

Welshy425d ago

The worst part about AC Unity is that it *does* run natively at 60fps, but only when running the 1.0 version from the disc. If you allow the game to update, future patches applied a 30fps cap for some reason.

I don't see any reason it would be difficult to just lift the cap that they added.

CML2425d ago

Shadow of the Colossus already runs at 60fps.
Its possible to play The Last Guardian at 60fps with an unpatched disc version too.

Stanjara425d ago

So why not unlock framerate cap on the latest version? Can't be that hard.

CML2425d ago

Probably because the studio doesnt exist anymore. 🥲

LucasRuinedChildhood425d ago (Edited 425d ago )

Absolutely. RDR2 still sells very well so the lack of a next gen version after GTA5 next gen is really annoying.
