I don’t see Xbox One X selling better this year than Xbox One S sold last year

darthv722373d ago

Well, many held off getting an S because of the announcement of the X. It will prob do well for itself.

kevnb2373d ago

I doubt that’s a huge amount of gamers, it’s a nice niche console that will have a high attach rate.

ULTp0ltergeist2373d ago

^Yes, huge improvement. The only downside is no game taking advantage of the power yet but done great so far with enhancements.

S2Killinit2373d ago (Edited 2373d ago )

Well so far its not hitting the number one spot on Amazon’s best sellers list. Its at number 15 with PS4 at number 1 spot and Nintemdo Switch at number 3 and 6. I find that Amazon’s bestsellers list is usually a big indication of sales or demand. Things can change though.

itsmebryan2373d ago (Edited 2373d ago )

@ULT

I don't understand. How can X1X not have any games that take advantage of the power when the enhanced games take advantage of the power?

@S2K
What is the PS4 pro ranked at?

Kribwalker2373d ago

@s2kill
it was at number one on the amazon list at launch as well, for the year it’s sold more then the PS4PRO has for the entire year (its at 52 since launch vs the Pro at 82 for the entire year)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/b...

it’s selling quite well so far

2373d ago
S2Killinit2373d ago (Edited 2373d ago )

@krib
Yeah but the Pro has been out for how long now? This is its second year no? The xboxx is doing fine but it didnt stay at number one for very long. Also i think Pro stayed at number one for a few months at least.

Kribwalker2373d ago

@S2kill
the pro released a year ago like a week ago.
That list i posted is the amazon best sellers for the entire year. So
PS4 Pro total sales for all of 2017 < Xbox OneX sales from preorders in august until now

4Sh0w2373d ago (Edited 2373d ago )

S2Killinit,
"Yeah but the Pro has been out for how long now?"

- That only highlights how BAD ps4pro sales are= Kribwalker posted Amazons best sellers list for the entire year of 2017 (so far). Sure like any console X's biggest sales are gonna come at launch but even so you would think ps4pro would be comfortably ahead of the X with 10-11 months heard start vs about 2 weeks of X sales. I mean ps4 has been out since 2013, yet it's 2017 sales STILL look to be waaay ahead X based on this list= moral of the story ps4pro has not been a convincing upgrade for the money= sales a very low if X outsold it so quickly so your comment makes no sense, ESPECIALLY since you are the one who brought up Amazon sales.

ULTp0ltergeist2373d ago

@itsmebryan

Well, obviously because it's an enhancement not full implementation of a hardware. If anything only 1st party games have taken advantage of it.

GamingIVfun2373d ago (Edited 2373d ago )

I live in a very big military town, Norfolk, Virginia, Gaming consoles sell really well here. It's pretty easy to find an Xbox One X as of now. Thing is I pre ordered mine from Best Buy (In Virginia Beach a very large resort city) and the store I pre ordered from did not receive enough consoles to fulfill pre orders and I stood in line at midnight to get it, it was a line of about six people, two of us did not get our consoles. I was specifically told the reason that Best Buy could not fulfill my order was because Microsoft did not ship as many as promised to Best Buy. While Target and Amazon had both the Scorpio edition and the regular edition for sale for release day shipment, I was even told by other people that Gamestop had extra consoles to sell on release day, also the Scorpio edition that Target and Amazon was still selling even a few days after release was supposed to be sold out world wide everywhere according to Microsoft (Major Nelson very specifically said so at the release party). Obviously that wasn't true.

Best buy was kind enough to give me $50.00 gift card for the inconvenience.

ILostMyMind2373d ago

Abriael2373d ago

And it would be surprising if it did, considering that it costs almost twice as much. Doesn't mean it won't do well.

-Foxtrot2373d ago

Well the S got off to a great start aswell but with any new console...it's the "in the moment" thing, especially near Christmas

Whether it stays steady of flatlines...that's anyones guess. We'll know in January I guess but for now all we can do is speculate.

Automatic792373d ago

@Foxtrot

I dont see flatline anytime soon with PUBG, Hello Neighbor, Robotron X, Black Desert Online, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves, The Artful Escape, Deep Rock Galactic, Ashen launching in the first few months. Not to mention games like Monster Hunter, Dragon Ball Z, Code Vein, Red Dead Redemption and Valkyrie Chronicles 4. It's going to be a busy few months.

conanlifts2373d ago

@automatic. Sea of thieves will likely launch later in 2018. SOD2 and crackdown are spring 2018 and Ashen just says 2018. Not sure about the others though.

XStation4pio_Pro2373d ago (Edited 2373d ago )

anecdotally speaking, most of the gamers in my social circle held off buying S's because they knew the X was launching. Some of them even pushed off PS4 Pro purchases to wait for the X (some did not). Even a bit of my hardcore ps4 friends ended up buying X's as well. Personally speaking, I have a pretty high end 4k HDR tv, and those that have seen my One X on it walk away very impressed. Myself included. Hands down the cleanest visuals and performance on console.

FallenAngel19842373d ago

Xbox One S was a more mass market appealing device than Xbox One X.

The majority of the average buying audience would be more promoted to buy the former than the latter device.

darthv722373d ago

And who's to say they wont? The X may spark interest in the S as a result. Those who want an X will get an X while those who want to go cheaper will get an S.

FallenAngel19842373d ago

If people want an Xbox One S they’d do so. There’s no reason the X would somehow prompt more people to buy the S now.

Krysis2373d ago

@darth seeing a high end BMW on the lot doesn't make me want to buy the Ford Focus next to it.

darthv722373d ago (Edited 2373d ago )

I get what you are saying krysis but if you are in the buying mood for a bmw then you have different models to choose from on that lot... just like someone looking for xbox.

Your ford analogy doesnt make sense. Unless the ford is the switch that is sold instead of an xbox???

FallenAngel19842373d ago

@ darth

But if someone wanted to get an Xbox One S, why wouldn’t they have done so beforehand? Why would the presence of the premium option suddenly compel someone who was on the fence prior to get the base system?

darthv722372d ago

@angel, because now there would be actual choice. Just like a person choosing between either a std ps4 and a pro. They can see the pros and cons of each and decide if the cost difference is justified.

Now that X is on the shelf, people can weigh it properly against the cheaper S. Up until now it was ONLY the S that was available. MS did away with the og model when the S released but you could still find them if you really wanted. But pretty much every major retailer had one xbo to pick from and it was the S. Now that changes with the X.

Like i said, if you got your mind set on getting a certain brand of car, now you have to decide on which model. Seeing an X on the shelf and on display can help to sell the S because it now gives that person tangible reason to choose one or the other especially if they are set up for them to try for themselves (aka test drive).

FallenAngel19842372d ago

Having a choice doesn’t make the Xbox One S that much more appealing a purchase. Customers would’ve already known what it offered beforehand. Having a premium option wouldn’t change that.

PS4 Pro doesn’t make the base PS4 more attractive. New 3DS doesn’t make the base 3DS more attractive. Same principle applies to Xbox One X and its base model

lxeasy2373d ago

I held off on getting an S to get the X

4Sh0w2373d ago

I did exactly the same thing, always thought Xbox sales in general were hurt by the announcement of X because I knew personally a small group of people who were holding off because they wanted an X instead.

darthv722373d ago

I got a day one edition xbo for cheap when the x was announced. Got it boxed for $160 and im good with it until I decide to get an X.

Smokingunz2373d ago (Edited 2373d ago )

I do, and it's already selling. judging by your comment I can tell you're a Sony fan

timotim2373d ago

Lol...thats your opening line??? Why not just congratulate Microsoft on a job well done in creating a box that the premium media/game enthusiast wants?

KillBill2373d ago

Are you talking in a specific time period? Because XB1S started selling in August of last year. So 5 months versus 2 months is a big difference in available market purchases.

FallenAngel19842373d ago

@ Ix

Good for you. That doesn’t mean the majority of consumers have been waiting a year to get the more expensive premium option. Not everyone is a hardcore gamer like that. Many will opt to a cheaper deal that’s less than half the cost during the holiday season.

@ Smokin

Then you got issues if you assume that cuz not everyone who isn’t invested in getting a premium iterative console is automatically a fan of some brand. I don’t even like the idea of PS4 Pro.

@ tim

Cuz this article is about the system selling well. If talking about the topic of the article bothers you why even reply?

@ Kill

I mean during the last two months of 2016 the Xbox One S would’ve sold more than whatever Xbox One X sells for the remainder of 2017.

+ Show (8) more repliesLast reply 2372d ago
ZehnDrachen2373d ago

It definitely won’t sell better than PS4. The PS4 1TB that’s $199 moved up to 71 from not even even being in the top 100 a few days ago on amazon.

darthv722373d ago

Very true. A $200 PS4 would be tough to pass up, unless the person already has one. At that price... it's tempting to get another.

horndog2373d ago

I would pass up a ps4 even if it was $99. What if I want the best console and most capable console? I rather spend my money with what I’ll be contempt with then buying a console I don’t really want because it’s cheaper .

ZehnDrachen2373d ago

@horndog

Do you mind telling me what console you had previously to the Xbox One X?

Phill-Spencer2373d ago (Edited 2373d ago )

10Drachen

Ofcourse he has or until a few days ago had the ps4 pro, the best and most capable console until then, or else horndogs comment wouldn't make any sense and would expose himself as a mere fanboy spitting bs now that xbox finally has the upper hand in atleast one area. And ofcourse he never even had an xbox 1 because he would deal with the weakest of the bunch.

I'm sure this isn't the case with him (and all the others whose top priority is to posses x1x as it is the most powerful console) though.

ZehnDrachen2373d ago

@U_R

I feel horndog is genuine... but to say one would pass on a $99 PS4 is quite childish. I would definitely buy an Xbox One S if one was $99. That’s an amazing deal

Phill-Spencer2373d ago (Edited 2373d ago )

Edit

What the heck? i'm now very dissapointed. One random click in his comment history showed that he infact had an x1. And he also stated things like "You go Phil. The best console to play the best games are on x1 is dead on" as if games somehow were more important then hardware specs. I'm confused.

And holy moly:

"I like the 900p. I will never be able to tell the difference. Wasn't ryse 900p and graphically kicks the living snot out of any ps4 game at 1080p. It even went on to win graphics of the year. Bring on my 900p sunny."

That's even more irritating

dcbronco2373d ago

Zehn X was out of stock a few days. Before it was the additional Scorpio versions they got and the standard X had been in the top ten since launch. Consistently ahead of PS4. I wouldn't use a major sale as my comparison. X is getting zero promotional pricing. The fact Sony even dropped $100 tells you something. Nobody drops 33% unless you are trying to undercut the competition. When the competition was already 40% higher in price that drop is extremely telling. It doesn't mean X will outsell PS4, it does mean Sony has taken notice of it.

Outside_ofthe_Box2373d ago (Edited 2373d ago )

bluefox7552373d ago

When you consider you can get a PS4 and a Switch for the price of an X, it's a tough sell for the X.

Julion07152373d ago

darthv722373d ago

2373d ago
Ulf2373d ago

That's funny, because I would take the best console gaming experience rather than the 3rd best (after the PS4 Pro) plus a handheld any day.

You don't think a lot of people agree? Some folks despise handhelds -- I know a lot of them personally, and if you've got a X, you only need a Switch for some Mario & Zelda (which is important, don't get me wrong).

I will outsell the PS4 Pro, though, even with a years' head start. No one wants to spend extra for 2nd best.

IRetrouk2373d ago

Didnt you do that when you bought the first xbox one??

CBaoth2373d ago (Edited 2373d ago )

regardless, it's still the best way to play Sony's exclusives. 1X isn't even the best place to play MS's exclusives, let alone 3rd party multi-plats. Your logic is already flawed.

Ulf2372d ago (Edited 2372d ago )

@IRetrouk,

I have both a X1 and a PS4, and never intended to just have one. I only chose to buy a X1X, as an upgrade, because it was always going to be superior, seeing as they announced it before the PS4 Pro, even. The Pro just doesn't offer me anything of real value -- some extra rez in a couple games, is all. The X1X will offer me better everything, on pretty much all games going forward, outside of a couple Sony exclusives -- many of which won't even offer special Ps4 Pro support, because Japan doesn't care about huge TVs/4K. The vast majority of Sony exclusive titles won't even benefit.

Sony didn't push the Pro because they knew it wasn't worth it, plain and simple. They'd rather ride the PS4 out, and make a PS5. Making the PS5 any time soon, at a cost less than the X1X, though... that'll be hard.

zerocarnage2373d ago

Sure if you want gaming at its cheapest and want to play different games but saying that sure there were news that the Xbox one s was selling slightly cheaper than PlayStation pro now.

Either way not everyone is in the same ball park there's going to be alot of people wanting Xbox one x because of its power and because they just don't care about exclusives like many on this site are claiming, instead they're just happy to buy best that's on the market and get the best experience at the time.

headshotfrosty2373d ago

Maybe just maybe it's possible to still sell well while still not outselling PS4? I mean is it really that important to keep stating? Sales vs Sales doesn't personally affect ones experience with the game... PS4 has this gen on lock, we get it...Doesn't mean MS should hang it up and go home with the ball.

Same here in central Utah. There are quite a few still in stores.

That's where I ordered my dayone Scorpio, when everyone else was already sold out. It's like most people don't know they sell games there.

That's interesting. In my area, the shelves are full of unsold Switches, PS4s, and PS4 Pros, and there's not an Xbox One X anywhere -- just empty spaces with "Xbox One X" labels underneath. Oddly enough, the Xbox One S units are also largely gone.. although they were the cheapest console ($249) due to all the recent sales, so.. kinda expected.

IGN Entertainment acquires Eurogamer, GI, VG247, Rock Paper Shotgun and more

IGN Entertainment has acquired the Gamer Network family of digital brands for an undisclosed sum. As a result of the acquisition, some redundancies have been made across the UK-based organisation.

Well this can only mean one thing... more job layoffs even in the publication industry.

Jin_Sakai22h ago(Edited 22h ago)

“Layoffs occuring“

Yep. IGN now has a monopoly in the gaming media.

“As a result of the acquisition, some redundancies have been made across the UK-based organisation.”

“Gamer Network's publications are GamesIndustry.biz, Eurogamer (including six local language editions), Rock Paper Shotgun, VG247 and Dicebreaker. The business also holds shares in Outside Xbox, Digital Foundry and Hookshot (which operates Nintendolife, PushSquare, PureXbox and Time Extension).”

“IGN Entertainment is the division of Ziff Davis that includes IGN, MapGenie, HowLongToBeat, and Humble Bundle. It has acquired the websites from PAX and New York Comic-Con organiser ReedPop, which initially bought the Gamer Network business in 2018.“

Jingsing21h ago

When say IGN you mean Microsoft's chief propagandist.

VenomUK14h ago

Surprising news, also a little sad as the magazine era is over and the website era is slowly coming to an end. But it must be said that many of the bastards who work at these places have operated as a mafia to control opinion on not only what can be said about games, but who can be allowed to talk about them, and what can be allowed to feature in them or not. As said above, redundancies are coming, Eurogamer pays the highest salaries for a team of staff who for some their output is minimal. Eurogamer also campaigned against Hogwarts Legacy and refused to review it -, the site took a hit. PAX has probably thought to cut its losses. Some job layoffs? I know of some of these people and they took pride in excluding - I will shed no tears.

S2Killinit12h ago

This is good news for Microsoft. IGN is like their advertisement arm.

Abear212h ago

This is exactly what Microsoft needs to better their image, control over the narrative by having the same message come from different colors umbrellas that are all really made by the same company.

All this means is a collective hive mind when reporting the news

They’ll discuss with each other how to handle topics and what kind of headlines to go with so they can fire round after round of whatever point they want to make

And the sad thing is over the many years even to the old GameGate days they love making gamers look bad as a collective. Anything for a hit piece.

victorMaje21h ago

Narrative control. I don’t like this at all.
Independent reviewers will be more important than ever.

JEECE17h ago

"They’ll discuss with each other how to handle topics and what kind of headlines to go with so they can fire round after round of whatever point they want to make."

You say this like it will be a new thing that they didn't already do.

OtterX20h ago

Yea, I had actually just seen today on Linkedin that a GamesIndustry.biz guy was talking about being laid off. I didn't read all of his post, but I bet it's because of this. That's a shame to hear. :\

Petebloodyonion22h ago

Probably Microsoft's fault!
They surely gave IGN the idea.
What's next IGN Pass?

But joke aside let's hope that this makes the news better compared to some of IGN branches

Jingsing21h ago(Edited 21h ago)

Microsoft and IGN work quite closely so it isn't a stretch to say this is a move to control the gaming press to get everyone singing from the Microsoft hymn sheet. Not a good look at all. It is transparent stuff like this which is backfiring in Microsoft's face. First they want control of all the games now the media.

crazyCoconuts21h ago

While there's obviously a desire to preserve add revenue and early access to review copies, I doubt there's the level of conspiracy here that you imply. I mean there's no direct link between MS and IGN right?

Petebloodyonion21h ago

You're probably right!!!!
Here's MS evil plan
1) Make sure that Hellblade 2 receives inflated reviews.
2) Fire all the ppl across UK who gave Starfield the justified 6/10 reviews
3) Make sure that Game industry.biz stops giving Sony's president a tribute to spew their lies and have them talk to Sarah Bonds and Todd Howard only.
4) Control the majority of players for the GOTY award so MS wins from now on.

PPL needs to know about this!

Jingsing20h ago

@crazyCoconuts The world has moved on from "direct links" as companies were easily caught doing that. These days corporations can merely operate as a cartel through shared mutual interest which is not strictly kosher either but is also more difficult to prove. It's the fundamental flaw with big corporations in the US economy today and no one in power is addressing it.

Lightning7719h ago

Is there proof to anything you're saying?

I've never heard of anything like this or is this N4G once again make believing stuff outta thin air again?

crazyCoconuts18h ago

@jing if you have proof then I stand corrected.
Otherwise it seems like more conspiratorial thinking to explain what could otherwise be explained by natural forces of market economies.
Don't get me wrong, I believe there is bias all over and unsavory influences. I just don't think it's all centrally planned by evil villains in a smoke-filled room

S2Killinit12h ago(Edited 12h ago)

I don't think anyone has proof but my personal experience corroborates what he is saying about IGN being in MS’s corner for whatever reason.

Granted, Last time I visited IGN regularly was years ago, I literally stopped once I realized the huge bias they showed in favor of xbox. Their pages for the two consoles were fundamentally different. When they would invite xbox president he was treated completely different than when Shuhei Yoshida was invited. The xbox pres was treated as one of their own. There was just too many examples, it wasn’t even much of a secret.

Jingsing10h ago(Edited 10h ago)

@Lighting77 The proof is in the pudding, "Partnerships for Events: Microsoft and IGN partner for specific events or showcases." "Sponsored Segments: Microsoft has sponsored segments within IGN's showcases." "Industry Relationships: Microsoft and IGN, as major players in the gaming industry, simply have good working relationships. This leads to collaborations on shows & joint announcements without any ownership involved." They just had an event together recently. The crux of it is money is being exchanged for favors, when that happens editorial independence goes out the window.

There was controversy about Microsoft having involvement with Polygon in the past and it proved to be real and effected their editorial bias. "Investment in Web3 Startup: Microsoft's venture capital arm, M12, participated in a $20 million funding round for Space and Time, a Web3 data warehousing platform, alongside Polygon (amongst other investors) "

Yes, good credible websites, I agree, it is a good match.

IGN is one of the most trusted gaming sites, weather you like it or not, but I know because they don't fit the N4G goofiness bubble, they can't be good.

shinoff218316h ago

I left ign years ago. Used to be on the ign forums all the time. I left there and found here. Not sure if you remember but this place used to be pretty bad for Sony fans. 360 was king for a few years. Anyone I don't quite remember but ign changed. Whatever the fk it was it seemed for the worse.

VenomUK14h ago

You’re right Christopher, just look at how N4G has improved since the buyout. .

Lexreborn221h ago

Ummmm not sure that’s a good thing that all these review sites are under the same umbrella. There’s no guarantee that they will maintain a non-bias opinion not paid for by the highest bidder.

MrNinosan21h ago

They haven't been non-bias since GamePass was crowned "best service in gaming".

Amplitude18h ago(Edited 18h ago)

You can go much farther back than that. Never forget the Kane and Lynch 2 review drama

Edit: wait that was GameSpot. Still though - don't trust these websites for anything. Find YouTubers like who's opinions you agree with and watch them instead. GaminylGames, Minimme, Digital Foundry, GMan, whatever. All better than these ad-filled "reviews" from people who are forced to play games and score with an arbitrary number

MrNinosan17h ago

@Amplitude
Digital Foundry has lost my trust ever since they got that MS money, but other than that, I'm with you.

If I'm on the fence of a game, I wait till the reviewers that share my taste has given their opinion.

Cockney3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

@MrNinosan
I didn't blame Microsoft for inviting digital foundry to expressly launch their new hardware, I mean good move by them getting a non bias technology focused influencer to gush about the series x, my issue is they took them up on their offer, taking a blatant sweetener like that really irks me, ever since I view their content with a pinch of salt

Charal21h ago(Edited 21h ago)

Ouch, that does not sounds good for Eurogamer.
With so much of the industry media that will more or less follow the same editorial line, it will be harder and harder to distinguish PR from actual journalism in a couple of years.

Thinking about it, may it explain their review score for Hellblade 2?

Christopher21h ago

***harder and harder to distinguish PR from actual journalism in a couple of years. ***

The age of gaming advertorials.

Petebloodyonion21h ago

You're right all of this is just to promote Hellblade 2 and inflate the score.
Also the why cuts are indeed coming to Eurogamer and other UK branches because they only gave Starfield an average score.

Jingsing20h ago

Shed the non US assets that are not favorable to Xbox keep the US assets that are. Microsoft are going to deliver crap and they are going to tell you their crap is good and you are going to buy it. That seems to be the strategy. At this point I just want them out of gaming as they are operating like cancer.

YouTubers ursurped the games media years ago.

Exactly right. No more journalists. Just 1 take regurgitated & paraphrased down the chain. Smh.

Their marketing budget is nonexistent. Instead they will publish articles for you to click on this site to get information (biased propaganda) about their games and ad dollars from you here and on their website too.

This is the new marketing strategy

Didn’t a leak about a max Payne remake surface a while ago?

banger882d ago

I hope it's Mafia 4. And I really hope it's set during the 70s or 80s, and not a prequel of the first game as was rumoured.

TheColbertinator2d ago

Mafia 4 would be cool if set in a 70s to 80s era

Most folks that have a Gamepass subscription will not spend the $70, they will use Gamepass instead to play COD. MS will most likely make their money from some solely PC players & some solely PS5 owners. Even some PC players may opt to use Gamepass instead of spending $70. I would think MS would want to make every dime they could from retail sales. As long as they put new releases of COD day one on Gamepass, MS will lose out on some sales of COD.

COD makes truck loads of money on microtransactions. That's likely the play. Get more people in the door through Game Pass and sell more microtransactions. Have a steady stream of events to keep people interested so they keep their sub, and then just the sub alone would double the revenue from that player each year.

Buying the game at $70 a pop including the deluxe versions is much better than people subs for a dollar to $15 a month. Die hard fans that usually buy the game also buy into the transactions. Again putting any new COD day one on Gamepass is definitely a sure loss of making some retail money for every copy of COD. With the last iteration of COD being bad most likely people are going to sub to Gamepass to play COD basically saving themselves $70, that is a loss of retail sales.

Most that don't have Gamepass will just buy the game and he done with it. People that do will just result in a retail sale being lost. Some will buy the subscription for the month then be done. This is lose lose. Casuals aren't going to pay almost 300 dollars a year for COD.

The reality is that Microsoft already knows the answer as stated by them in their documents. PlayStation gamers have built up an ecosystem of games and they aren't migrating over and dropping what they have to buy an Xbox to play one game in a service you have to pay monthly for. Cheaper to just buy the game. And, I'd bet many casual COD players don't know or care about the acquisition.

Which is why Jim Ryan pushed to make sure that that one game continues to be sold as usual on Sony's platform to keep the status quo. Every other IP owned by Activision are worthless. And Activision has shown they don't care about other IP like Tony Hawk by cancelling them.

Sales WILL be lost on Xbox. That's for certain. Microsoft can only hope that Xbox gamers continue to buy up those micro transactions to make up for those lost sales. Only positive for Microsoft is that they get to dip into PlayStation game sales that we all know from history and NPD, that Sony's console sells more games. But increase subs from Sony fans for game pass? Not happening in any way that matters.

Sony, on the other hand, can have their cake and eat it too. They get COD and they can continue dropping more content for their fastest selling GaaS game which is Hell Divers 2. As the game passes 12 million sales and doesn't beat you over the head with micro transactions, Sony has a win win situation and can support the game getting more content to keep players engaged.

As a side note, COD is probably going to turn into some version of Sea of Fortnite Duty. Games as a service sitting in game pass being milked dry with micro transactions and constant updates making you feel you're playing an unfinished game that keeps going and going with no soul.

I'm not sure why everyone is acting like COD is a surprise. That was always the plan. They said in court during the FTC case they were doing this. They have said repeatedly and recently all first party games are going to Gamepass.

gamepass like PS Plus are rental services. Games like COD you buy not rent. So in my case unless I plan on keeping gamepass for 2yrs minimum than the benefit of adding cod is pointless.
