Super Mario Odyssey sold two million units within first three days

Super Mario Odyssey is estimated to have sold through more than two million units worldwide in its first three days of release, Nintendo announced during its six months financial results briefing for the fiscal year ending March 2018.

As much as i loved 3d world i think it was kind of a low point in nintendos creativity. Even though odyssey's definitely a mario game, nintendo took some really cool risks with this one and its nice to see that it paid off.

I'm a big Mario fan but I'm not loving Odyssey so far. Graphics, motion controls, music, are all bad. Currently about to leave the beach planet with about 150 moons. I wish there was more platforming in it and its way too easy. I haven't died a single time from an enemy.

I am digging the graphic style. Sure, its nothing spectacular, but it still looks nice nonetheless. Music is awesome espcially in the Metro kingdom (imo) and if you really have gotten 150, that mean there were hundred of platforming you had to do in order to get those moon. I doubt you haven't been dead from any enemy though, but if you really haven't, then go to the lost wood and try to survive there.

Damn, that is incredible. But at the same time it does not surprise me. It's a Mario game going back to the roots of Mario 64. I simply bought a Switch for Mario Odyssey. I also plan to get Zelda BOTW at some point this year. Those two titles are a must own for the Switch. And after the disappointing WiiU I'm glad more people are interested in the Switch.

don't worry. The Switch is a portable, not a console. The WiiU was Nintendo's last console. Don't be persuaded by their moronic PR. If you like Nintendo and their IPs this is a no-brainer. You won't be disppointed. It's a great little successor to their portable line. They just couldn't sell it as that because the 3DS is still selling but the WiiU is dead. So yeah, with 2 products in the same field they've dominated the past 20 years, Nintendo is back to profitability. It's good to see and probably the lane they should stay in. They found a "console" solution for their portable devices and the sky's the limit.

As for MS, I don't think they believe that exclusives and SP content helped to fuel this sales disparity between the consoles in the 8th gen. MS execs will point to the aforementioned WiiU as one example. Plus, they DID royally screw up the console reveal; it was weaker but more expensive than the PS4 as a result of Kinect's inclusion. I feel we'll see another GaaS platform next gen from them with a smattering of exclusives early on. I do see it being the most powerful console next gen as they won't make that mistake again.

Bro the reveal was a mess even the casuals got a whiff of how much they messed it up. Kinect was their downfall, they got over zealous. It was too late when they tried to backtrack with their drm policies. The kinect being able to spy on you didnt help either, even if it may have been far fetched.

As for the switch I remember the mario party games being fun with friends, but when the new pokemon rpg comes out, I think ill get a switch.

For me if a console does not have a good exclusive lineup its not worth a purchase, I couldnt care less if you can render more crap on screen with the S on 3rd party games. Specs have never been a console thing, leave that to the master race. Its always been about games. Nintendos doing an amazing job so far with their exclusives.

Honestly, in an ideal world it deserves to sell better, much better. If games (for example) such as COD, GTA and Uncharted can sell as many as they do, Odyssey is a game which lauds it over them in every department and will be remembered/played long after the dust has settled, unlike the examples I used.

I genuinely believe what Nintendo have created with the likes of Odyssey and A Breath of the Wild is so far ahead of what other developers are doing it puts them on a new level. These are games you'll still be uncovering details, finding new areas and generally still being surprised with years down the line.

How is games like botw so far ahead of the competition when it draws so heavily from games like The Witcher 3? While it's still a good title it's not even as good as older Zelda games it's only got like four dungeons in it. And Super Mario Odyssey is the easiest Mario title today the main story can be beaten in like 8 to 10 hours. it's also not doing anything drastically different than any other Mario title.

The idea ABOTW draws heavily on The Witcher 3 is laughable, genuinely. If anything it draws on previous Zelda's while evolving and innovating. The negging of Odyssey being too easy is equally as ignorant. I've seen speed runners beat SMB is less than 10 minutes...so, easier? It's like you can't see the woods for the tree's.

Great games tend to sell well. I personally got a Switch just for classic Nintendo games. Super Mario Odyssey, Zelda Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart are the only games I own and I'm very happy with the quality of these games. Nintendo is going hard and that can't be denied. It's a great game. Quite refreshing compared to other mario games in the series.

But I felt the challenge was lacking throughout most of my adventure. Also the moon pieces felt a bit over whelming with how common they were.

But all in all it was a great title.

I'm about to play it in a short while...the switch makes downtime at work simply amazing. Its the best thing to have when you have a job primarily working alone.

Loving Mario, been cracked Zelda, playing Shovel Knight, got Stardew valley but don't really like it, Snipper clips with my youngest kid is a great time, Fast racing RMX was fun and great looking, Sparkle 2 is relaxing and addictive, Octopath is so good, cant wait for the full game and neuro void was fun and challenging to play with my oldest son.

Doom, L.A Noire, Xenoblade, and gonna check out Rocket league for the first time..on the fence about skyrim(to many other games) and i see a few interesting indies i will try...SWITCH is the best Nintendo system in such a long time!
