Would have been Dead on Arrival if it was set in the Wild West because of RDR2. Hope this game turns out well. FC4 felt like an expansion to FC3 and I skipped Primal.

FC4 took place in the Himalayans while FC3 took place in a tropical island. Pretty different places. I liked them both but 3 was better. Primal is completely different all together. It's well worth it. Pretty amazing game.

No, it wasn't good. It was extremely boring, repetitive and frustrating as hell and the story was handled badly unfortunately. I really had high hopes for it. Too bad it didn't live up to it.

What makes you so certain its still not the Wild West? I don't really see anything that confirms its not from the trailer. I can't tell what sort of clothes that the floating body has.. Did I miss something else? I hope its not wild west, I just don't see anything in the trailer that confirms that it's not... ?

@Foxtrot - "Thank god it's not the Wild West" ... Umm what in that trailer tease made you think that this game is not 100% set in the wild west? I think its dead on 100% wild west type setting.

Edit: ok I just saw the extended teaser. So I think its safe to rule out the early west expansion days as you see telephone poles in one of the settings along with grain silos in the distance at some type of farm/facility. That said, there still is a bit of a early turn of the century feel to it. I think the religious cult is most definitely spot on but that really follows suit of the latest Far Cry anyway as they all have had some kind of religious / cult infusion.

Doing a bit of research - Montana’s first telephone appears to have been in Miles City, associated with Ft. Keogh (ca. 1877), and telephone business apparently began in Butte, Montana in 1882, when the phone line arrived. I could see this game set in the 1920's.

We don't know their aim, but if the western rumor is true, they using the themes of the wild country in a way that is very western.

or even the film The Rover, its a western set in the future.

I'm more of a PC/Nintendo guy and marketing deals are predominately from Sony and Microsoft. I don't think they're particularly bad. They're a minor annoyance when the devs are vague about other platforms due to them, other than that they just seem a bit petty.

Yeah, I hadn't seen the whole trailer teaser. I updated a different post in here and forgot to update this one. Clearly not wild west days. I think it could still be early 1900's but the more I look it over the more I am inclined to think it will be closer to more modern times just the setting will be more rural. I have seen some suggesting it could be similar to the show Justified which would be great but I don't see that getting pulled off to well for Far Cry given Justified's success was not just the writing but it was the charm of the main character which being honest none of the Far Cry games have done well with. I have found the main character in all the games to be very run of the mill and forgetable.
