GameSpot: Crysis Warhead Review

Warhead's single-player campaign should take you no more than six hours or so to complete, but not only does it invite multiple play-throughs, it costs only $30--and doesn't require you to own the original. In other words, there is no reason why anyone with a capable PC shouldn't play Crysis Warhead. It's more focused, it's more intense, and though it doesn't provide as much of the sandbox feel as Crysis veterans would wish for, it still delivers on every other front. Play this game.

http://www.amazon.com/Crysi...

Look at the rating on Amazon only 1.5 Stars. Because of the DRM limit of 3 installs. Thats sad EA, Check yourself before you wreck yourself.

Poor Crytek. Best get these crysis games on consoles so you can get the dough yall deserve.

TheIneffableBob5742d ago

Ars Technica found that the DRM wasn't as bad as everybody made it out to be.

INehalemEXI5742d ago

Maybe so but look at how low this game is going for and its the most technically impressive game on the market. Since the original Crysis did not sell well due to not many being able to run it and all. Its best to get this on PS360 so Crytek gets that dough. Instead of being R4P3D by Pirates.

TheIneffableBob5742d ago

It's $30 because it's an expansion.

INehalemEXI5742d ago (Edited 5742d ago )

If it were an expansion you would require the old crysis to play it. This is a stand alone game. You don't have to have Crysis to play Crysis: Warhead.

Includes Crysis Wars, an expanded new multiplayer experience with new online modes and 21 maps including seven all-new maps to battle it out against other players.(probably why you thought it was an expansion).
----------------------------- -------------
Crysis Warhead is a standalone release and does not require ownership of Crysis to play <---off the product description. Don't take my word for it.

Proxy5742d ago

But it wont be as technically impressive on consoles. Actually it may, because they do well with what they have, but it wont look better than it does on PC.

There are two types of gamers:
Casuals - See random game in store, buy it, try to play it. Get burned by DRM, but don't understand what's going on. Hopefully they go online and find out it's EA's fault. They don't buy any more EA games, which isn't hard, they just have to find another cover with a cool image on the front, since that's all they judge a game by.

Hardcore - Know about DRM before buying the game. Have to option to pirate, buy, or just go without. Half pirate, other half goes without or buys. Those who buy get burned, don't buy any more EA games.

Either the market for DRM games dries up to nothing. Or EA changes their policies. Either way, we wont have this kind of DRM forever.

INehalemEXI5742d ago (Edited 5742d ago )

It would still be one of the most impressive fps if they did a console version and they would get.... 59.99 per sale instead of 29.99 half the time and ripped off the other half.

It depends on the PC if it would look better, Most of the PC's in use can't even run Crysis.

Im just saying devs are buisness smart making console exclusive titles and then releasing the PC version later vs Making a PC exclusive and then later doing a console version. Theres a reason why many devs do it console first. Feddy, Scrilla , Scratch Main.

INehalemEXI5742d ago (Edited 5742d ago )

Remember many Hardcore gamers are also Collectors and Crysis is an essential.

TheIneffableBob5741d ago

It's called a standalone expansion.
The storyline parallels that in Crysis, and thus is not a true sequel.

INehalemEXI5741d ago (Edited 5741d ago )

It is a standalone expansion, not just an expansion like the sims apartment life or World of Warcraft BC. Thres a big difference and its still crazy that its the most killer game and its retailing for 29.99.

It plays better then the original and is selling for less. Thats good but crazy IMO.

People should start to realize that a game can have both great graphics and gameplay. Let's face it : Crysis was awesome. Stop hating on the good graphics (if that makes any sense). And sweet Jesus is Crysis Warhead looking sweet. Downloading it from Steam right now.

Proxy5742d ago

I've already downloaded from Steam, and I'm prompted for the activation key. Steam doesn't give activation keys though, so I'm waiting on EA's slow and incompetant costomer service to get back to me. Until then, no Crysis for me.

Hope you don't have the same problem.

SCThor5742d ago

Downloading it from....mininova. No activation key needed :P

Marceles5741d ago

Crysis is the best looking game ever, the non-believers are just console fans. Even I was hating on Crysis when my old computer couldn't run it, but I bought a Gateway laptop with a 512MB nvidia 8800GTS card and managed to beat Crysis. It's honestly the best FPS I've played and seen since Half-Life 2 first came out in my opinion.

INehalemEXI5741d ago (Edited 5741d ago )

Why hate on Console fans? The specs of that computer you bought are pretty much equivalent to a 360/PS3 too (probably has more RAM though).

I built my own rig for VSoH Beta and it runs crysis on High but I still fVX with consoles. For those Console Exclusives.

Marceles5741d ago (Edited 5741d ago )

heh...I'm not hating on console fans, I'm just saying alot of people hate because they've never experienced it, don't own a capable PC, or they're just plain not interested. Crysis is really a great game, but it gets shot down alot by people waiting on Killzone 2 or Gears 2. It's just nice to see SOME people paying attention to a good PC game. LOL and no...I can't imagine a PC game being dumbed down for a console game, but I can see it happening vice versa.

Really hoping that tease from their latest tech demo turns out to be a new game or maybe remaster/remake of the first game. The first and warhead are still my favorite in the series

I can’t even get Warhead to boot up on windows 10. None of the fixes I found online helped, at best it hangs at the loading screen for the first level

Crysis & Crysis: Warhead are now available on GOG, and are completely DRM-free

Crysis and Crysis: Warhead are often described as some of the best first-person shooters of modern-day. Contrary to the next parts of the series, these two titles offered really large environments in which players could cause havok and approach their objectives via different routes. And we are happy to report that both of these games are now available on GOG, completely DRM-free.
