We've Given Ubisoft Too Many Chances

Agheil - "First off, I’m a fan of Ubisoft. It’s just recently, their games have not stood up to their initial reveals. Watch Dogs and The Division are two prime examples.

Watch the video below for the discussion. Enjoy."

Ubisoft needs to wake up with this nonsense

Errorist762772d ago

Luckily Watch Dogs 2 seems to be a much better game with little hype, so they seem to have learned their lessons!

electricbanshi2772d ago

we get upset but we'll buy the games regardless hoping for the better....

Agheil2772d ago

I hate to agree, but you're right

electricbanshi2772d ago

Maybe this time it will be different

I'm not really supposed to talk about Wildlands due to an NDA, but I'm not afraid talking about some of it in text form. Game screen was plastered with the account name I used all over it so I didn't take screenshots or record gameplay vids or risk the account I used, locking it from future alphas & betas.

I was in the pre-alpha for it that came out a few weeks ago so I won't talk about the performance, bugs, the technical side, but...overall for everything else, it's alright.

It's your typical Ubisoft formula game where yea, you have a LOT to do, but it's kind of like a checklist for collecting. You invade enemy bases around a large map (there's more world areas) for resources, weapons, weapon mods, medals, intel, skill points. The resources mentioned, they're used to upgrade your skills for a skill tree meant for you personally, with some of the skills meant to affect your squad. Skills include upgrades for your dispatchable flight drone, make it have better range, emp attacks, night vision, etc. or the ones for your character are like better weapon stability, reviving speed, more stamina for sprinting, etc. Plenty of skills with a level up system which I was happy about because I enjoy building my character the way I want to in conjunction with the way I play.

Regardless of a checklist form, the ability to do it your own way kills that monotony. You can attack a base any way you want; stealth, assault, ground vehicles, air vehicles, whatever. You'll even get the support of the rebels, with plenty of choices for that. Missions are not locked in any structure, forcing you to play it one way. If you want to snipe with suppressors, go ahead, if you want to smash the front gate open and let out the rebels from their cages to join the fight with you, going loud, you can.

If you played Future Soldier, the gameplay is nothing like it, it's closer to Splinter Cell: Blacklist mixed with The Division without the cover to cover mechanic & the way you take cover in this game, you lean against it. I liked the ability of taking your suppressor off or putting it back on with a simple button combination, including changing fire mode & changing how you zoom in with a scope.

Weapon customization is rich, that's a huge plus side, it will let you mod every piece of your weapon, even the trigger... You can turn a assault rifle into a long range marksman rifle if you want to and vice versa. With the weapons you can customize, you also get pre-made unique named weapons that you collect, non-customizable, but have their own appearance and uniqueness to it.

There's definitely more to the game, plenty of variety. I want to say, it's an alright game if you play it by yourself with the AI squad, but if you play it with a friend or 2 like I did, it's definitely really fun planning out attacks & executing them. Even the game includes a mark mechanic to sync up your shots with everyone else to cleanly clear out groups of enemies without alerting everyone else.

If you really enjoyed SOCOM during the PS2 days, this is the game for you. Combat and stealth was very reminiscent to that good old franchise, mostly SOCOM: Combined Assault with the vehicles and loadout customization.

I didn't get to play the whole game in pre-alpha stage so I won't comment on the story. What I played though, was pretty generic. All I'm gonna say, there's "boss battles" or a final target(s) in each sector of the map you have to fight, where you can get the unique named weapons, which they hold.

This is no traditional Ghost Recon game, but if you enjoyed SOCOM, this will be the closest to it.

Insanity = Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result each time :)

The last Ubisoft game I played was AC4: Black Flag and I actually enjoyed it. So I have hope that they can do it again for me.

DanteVFenris6662771d ago

Yea black flag was great I'll probably reply it as there really is no pirate game that I've played that I've enjoyed more. The pirate theme has always been lacking in triple A

Errorist762772d ago

WD2 seems worth the play for sure!

tehpees32771d ago

Actually there is a backlash. Pre-orders for Ubisoft's games are lower then they were last time.

Agheil2772d ago

All we can really do for now

generic-user-name2771d ago

I honestly think that's something you should only get if you have a few buds you can play with, can't imagine it'll be much fun doing it solo or with randomers.

firelens2772d ago

I have hope for watch dogs 2 lol

The7Reaper2772d ago

Im getting it regardless of review scores, hell I enjoyed the first Watch Dogs and no one can change my mind

SolidDuck2772d ago (Edited 2772d ago )

To play devils advocate. These are 2 examples of ubi not really knowing what they were doing when they first showed these games. Let me explain. Watch dogs was i believe the first current gen game ever shown. They didnt even have final specs. They obviously over did it when they first showed it. The division was ubi's first mmo type game. U dont get the same graphical fidelity in mmo's generally. I think they were out of there element. I dont believe they deserve a free pass. I also dont think it was some evil plan tho.

Agheil2772d ago

It wasn't an evil plan haha. It's just a matter of games not living up consistently recently. I hope the wildlands turns out great. It just hasn't had as much exposure for a game coming out in March.

Pandamobile2771d ago

Everything is a learning process.

Ashlen2771d ago

Well I would agree with that except they didn't make the games look like the demo even on PC.

this is so odd. we had ps before the summer fest and now xbox after.

Lightning771d 5h ago

The rumor is 30 games with a nearly 2 hour show. I hope so I, been saying they need to go balls to the wall with their showcase. That's according to Grubb again. Yeah a huge pinch of salt he's only been wrong or half right about some stuff.

There's also suppose to be a Wu Tang Clan game that's a kungfu action RPG featuring the legendary hip hop group New Yorks own Wu Tang Clan. You read right Wu Tang Clan kungfu action RPG.

Sounds weird, random and quirky but hey I'm down to see it.

romulus234h ago

Bet the title has Shaolin in it.

purple1011h ago

State of decay 3 info is leaking on twitter!

Looks good. Personally don’t play horror/ zombie games, but I appreciate it’s a good game so that’s a win for Xbox fans.

Lord knows they need a win at the moment

anast4h ago

This show is going to be painful.

Elda4h ago

Hopefully not knowing most games shown will be multiplats & some eventually multiplats.

anast4h ago

The presentation is going to be the painful part. There might be some good games though.

1h ago
Elda4h ago

I hope it's a good showing knowing most games that will be shown will be multiplats & XB timed exclusives that'll eventually become multi-plats.

Tacoboto1h ago

It is what it is at this point.

At least the good games will have a chance to be bought, take advantage of the superior DualSense, and *maybe* give those studios a better shot at survival.

They'll also have better shadows, and run with higher dynamic res on the PS5 Pro.

Former Bungie Staff Speaks Out on Destiny 2 The Final Shape DLC: Blames Crunch for Missteps

Liana "Hippy" Ruppert, a former Community Manager at Bungie, spoke out about how crunch affected the Destiny 2: The Final Shape DLC.

Kaii23h ago

Crunch+Bad management+Greedy disgusting monetization.
I'll tune back in when D3 is dropping and they've toned down the monetization & the foundation is good

DefenderOfDoom23h ago(Edited 3h ago)

Final Spape campaign getting very positive reviews. I am enjoying the Final Spape campaign myself. Definitely worth the delay.
