My next console. A true upgrade. I really can't wait to play in native 4k. I'm so let down by the ps4pro such a disappointment.

If only they can make worth while titles that will take advantage of such specs *sigh*.
Quality games> Powerful specs

sammarshall1022809d ago

I'll take quality games, UHD, and powerful specs with the Scorpio

COMMENT-OF-THE-YEAR2809d ago (Edited 2809d ago )

Power has never help Microsoft place in front of Sony in any generation so.. yep. Bring on the world wide sales numbers! Lets see if they can close a 20 million console lead. With 4k Blue lol.. jesus. Xbox fanboys are delusional. Maybe the power of the cloud will help!

annoyedgamer2809d ago

Considering the best games (even the one being touted by Sony fans above) are all multiplatform...Microsoft has nothing to worry about.

pcz2808d ago (Edited 2808d ago )

by calling it neo, it evoked an all powerful console... the one. when really, they should have called it mouse

XanderZane2808d ago (Edited 2808d ago )

Powerful Specs and Quality games > Quality games.

@COMMENT-OF-THE-YEAR
Don't think M$ is worrying about the sales gap at this point. Just like last gen when the Wii was destroying the PS3 and XBox 360 in sales, fanboys of these systems didn't care much about the gap after the race had already been won. They won't shrink a 20+ million gap. They will definitely sell million of systems though.

Except the PS4Pro is releasing alongside the xboxone S which is significantly weaker.

And by the time scorpio is released, the PS5 will be around the corner.

threefootwang2809d ago

Lmao, you're hilarious bud.

You expect Sony to release the PS5 right after Scorpio comes out? Knowing full well that the PS4 Pro will only have been out for about a year?

I can understand if you're a fanboy and all, but for the sake of common sense, think before you type lol

BLizardXD2809d ago

"And by the time scorpio is released, the PS5 will be around the corner."
Scorpio isn't the last console. it will happen again. MS said every 4 years so 1 year after the ps5 will be the next xbox.

S2Killinit2809d ago (Edited 2809d ago )

@threefootwang
Umm isn't that what Microsoft is doing with the xobxone S? History says your wrong as well by the way. So yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and say common sense is on my side. Besides your math is wrong. The scorpio is coming in 14 months, PS4Pro is coming out in a month. But you can still laugh out loud, I think laughter is good for the soul.

MS's hand is forced here, not Sony's. Playstation has the install base, they can decide when to release to deflate the xbox. They have already begun. The PS4Pro has a wider performance gap with the standard PS4, than the gap between PS4Pro and scorpio. Once scorpio is released, Sony will announce the PS5. It will probably take a year before PS5 hits the stores, but considering that the specs of the scorpio are not significantly higher than the PS4Pro, the PS5 will benefit from coming in second. (if I had to guess, the PS5 will be released two years from now, AKA one year after scorpio)

@BLizardXD
Of course that is a given. But since MS needs to gain the traction (in install base), they might be a bit more reluctant to announce yet another console within a short period of time. Not saying they won't come out with their own console after the PS5, but I think they need one of their consoles to stay the course and get a chunky install base before releasing a 3rd console otherwise their brand image will take a hit. (so yeah in other words i think once PS5 releases, it might be a while before MS releases another counsel, but that's just speculation of course)

sammarshall1022809d ago

Sony cuts cost by not including a 4K drive in the PS4 Pro but you expect them to ship a brand new console right after the Pro?

Funny

candystop2809d ago

It's to the point whete whenever I start reading a strictly fanboy comment especially from Sony guys I just hit disagree and don't waste my time reading they're nonsense.

S2Killinit2809d ago (Edited 2809d ago )

@candystop
Really? How is what I'm saying a "fanboy comment". Its a logical statement whether you like to hear it or not.

anyway I would love to hear why my comment is nonsensical. Scorpio is coming a whole year from now, are you saying PS5 will not be released in 2 years time?

COMMENT-OF-THE-YEAR2809d ago (Edited 2809d ago )

Even when Sony is at a disadvantage spec wise they have always sold more than Microsoft year over year each generation. When they have the advantage they trounce the competition as show with 20 million units more. If you think more power is going to bring you better games your wrong. You will be getting better looking games.. with the same mechanics and idea's. Microsoft lacks in new IP. They never build Ip's that last or when they do they bleed them out across multiple developers like with gears and halo which score much lower now in reviews.

Also, All generation you have been talking about the power of the cloud and all this other nonsense and even with the S the xbox as shown by digital foundry still really only outputs at 900p. That said if you don't think the PS5 is 2 years out you'd be dead wrong. You can see it clear as day. The message today was to keep the pro inline and on message as a PS4. It will phase out the PS4 Slim in 2 years or so at 299 and they will announce PS5. a year into Microsoft cycle. It will be hilarious.

PimpDaddy2809d ago

PS5 won't release till 2019 or 2020 at the earliest. Even after today's disappointment Sony isn't stupid enough to piss off their fan base with a new console 2 years after a mid-generation upgrade. It's entirely possible Sony and Microsoft will just continue to release incremental upgrades every 3-4 years to maintain backwards and forwards compatibility. Especially since they are both using the same X86 based architecture now.

Please don't confuse your emotional defense of Sony Pro's specs in comparison to Xbox Scorpio for logic S2Killinit.

CorndogBurglar2809d ago

Insanity......

I'm a Sony fan too, but come on. They aren't going to release PS4 Pro and then announce PS5 a year later. It'll never happen.

S2Killinit2809d ago (Edited 2809d ago )

@Corndogburger - "I'm a Sony fan too, but come on. They aren't going to release PS4 Pro and then announce PS5 a year later. It'll never happen."

Well, MS is doing exactly that, how is it any different with Sony? MS just released the xboxoneS with upgraded specs and they will be releasing scorpio in 14 months. Sony is doing exactly the same thing. In fact Sony is releasing 2 years apart whereas MS is releasing 1 year apart.

The only difference is that MS would like this generation to end as soon as possible with Sony planning on extending it as long as possible to gain more install base. MS's hand was forced to announce and begin working on their console early to push for a new start, Sony on the other hand has the advantage of being able to wait until Scorpio's development is past the point of return, then they will finalize their PS5 specs.

As far as the current generation, If the PS4Pro specs are anything close to scorpio's (which they are), then that should buy Sony an extra year to stay in the PS4 era with the Pro without worrying that they will loose market share (meaning as long as PS4/Pro models outsell Scorpio). Its pretty logical.

Besides, historically, console manufacturers have released their console, at a maximum of 1 year apart from the competition's console. So I think the only difference is that Sony, isn't announcing their PS5 ONLY BECAUSE they are leading in the current generation and wouldn't want to help cut the generation short by mentioning that "yeah by the way, the PS5 will be released shortly after Scorpio". Don't forget, scorpio is 14 MONTHS away, that means sony has a good 2 years to go with PS4Pro until the PS5 is released.

Dasteru2809d ago (Edited 2809d ago )

So 3 years is your idea of "around the corner"?

You are severely delusional if you believe the PS5 will release in 2 years. 2020 at the earliest, and you can quote me on that. If it releases holiday 2018, it would be the shortest lifespan of any successful console ever, by over a year.

It is amusing how you use the word "logical" to justify that belief, given you are using none. The shortest time any successful console has ever been on the market is just over 6 years. The PS3 lasted 8. 2 years from now would put the PS4 at 5. Logic says not happening. With the design costs of the Pro, it would be seriously bad business for Sony to release the PS5 so early.

Scorpio is also not a truly next gen console. It is still an Xbox One. All Xbox One games will work on Scorpio and all Scorpio games work on the Xbox One (at lower resolution, framerate, etc.) This has been confirmed by MS.

Like i said, you can quote me on all of this. I'm bookmarking this page and will be back in 2 years to laugh in the faces of everyone who disagreed.

S2Killinit2809d ago (Edited 2809d ago )

@Dasteru
where did you get 3 years from? scorpio is 14 months away from now. PS4Pro is next month. PS5 will be about the same distance away from scorpio. Its rumors will be around when scorpio is releasing. Sony already said PS4Pro is a "mid-cycle" console, and MS already said they want a new gen console with scorpio. Sony's next gen console is the PS5.

Honestly, I don't think its a favorable position for MS to be in. Think about it, PS4Pro is slightly less powerful than scorpio. Sony will not finalize its PS5 specs until scorpio is well into development. This means MS has to make the first move to get out of this generation (which they want to do badly). Sony gets to force their hand, then outdo them with the PS5. MS is stuck between a rock and a hard place right now.

NextGenCeo2809d ago

You are right! Sony saying PS4 Pro not a next generation. Xbox Scorpio all new dizayn and new console new generation but people thinking it is part of Xbox One!

They wrong. Xbox gone relese Scorpio and almost 1 year later PS5 will came. That`s why Sony not give full boost with PS4 Pro because they know what they are doing!
Just think they supporting 4K but they not putting 4K Bluray on their game console? Does are strategy and moves for PS5.
They doesn`t want Microsoft in this Market and Scorpio release and PS5 shows up will be smart move agains Microsoft...

(Esl guy here sorry for english)

2809d ago
extermin8or2809d ago

@threefootwang what you forget is moores law. Processing power doubled/halved in cost end of last/early this year which means it's due to again year after next. Towards the end of the year. So Microsoft's expedited next gen console will launch then a year or two later at a competing pricepoint a Sony console noticeably more powerful will launch. If it offers backwards compatibility it's going to encourage sone of ps4 players jump over and as the ps4 pro is powerful enough to still be playing the same games as Scorpio just probably upscale to 4k. Coupled with the fact the Scropio likely will be pretty expensive at launch.... That's if it even launches next fall and isn't delayed to reduce the cost..... There are so many variables that make this rather irrelevant. Microsoft has never actually sold more accross a whole generation than Sony. Even last gen they were neck and neck by the end despite a year less on the market, indicates even the ps3 had a faster sell through rate... So Microsoft resetting the clock because they are being outperformed and actually making your purchase worth less as their support for older consoles has been shit every generation. When the Scorpio comes out the xbone will have such little support it'll be a joke.

JasonKCK2809d ago

So I guess the argument is about "14 months" now.

2809d ago

threefootwang2809d ago

Same here! I think that's why Sony was actually "surprised" when MS decided to announce Project Scorpio.

ShadowKnight2809d ago (Edited 2809d ago )

When the Scorpio comes out Sony will probably be at 70 million consoles sold which is more important especially with the upcoming exclusives. Microsoft will rely on Halo 6, Forza, and Gears of War 5 all over again. 😏 It's just a matter of time for them to be exposed and Rookie_monster knows it too that's why he never mentions Microsoft first party studios. Diverse Games sells consoles. I hope they don't get out the console business. 🤔

I can almost guarantee Microsoft will never make a IP better than Halo 1,2,3 and Gears 3 in this generation especially with the lack of first party studios. If I'm wrong quote me on this.

Death2809d ago

This is different than Uncharted/GT/Last of Us, how? Are you suggesting NMS took the crown from Uncharted or Driveclub surpassed the delayed/absent GT?

I'm not sure about your first statement. Are you suggesting sales are more important than exclusives or are you just getting tired like I am?

ShadowKnight2809d ago (Edited 2809d ago )

@Death I think exclusives and sales are both important and Microsoft is failing on both atm. If Microsoft had the most powerful console this generation I still believe they would have lost the console war because of lack of games and first party studio's. You need games to sell consoles. The only reason why Microsoft was ahead of Sony last generation was because their console came out one year earlier and because of Halo and Gears and all the third-party support and Sony still won in sales at the end of that generation because of first party games. They need some new Ips that's better than Uncharted , The Last of Us, Gears of War, Halo, Bloodborne and so on. They just don't have that same magic they had with Halo anymore. Quantum Break was suppose to be that next popular game don't you agree? Sony next big game is Horizon and Microsoft next big game is Gears of War 4? You see where I'm getting at. Halo 6 will be there next big game. Sony next big game after Horizon will be another new IP from Naughty Dog or Sucker Punch who knows but something fresh because of Sony first party studios.

Wallstreet372809d ago (Edited 2809d ago )

Lol with the same three decent games rotating and not very much new good games lol Good luck on that one.

Also if you think 1.8 tf more will get you games running 4k native on Scorpio your in for a rude awakening lol See next year or maybe closer to two while I'm enjoying my pro and psvr now by the Sony will be hinting at the ps5 which will be stronger than Neo :) Its a revolving door.

DJustinUNCHAIND2809d ago

@NewMonday.

Now COD players are the barometer of a system's interest?

COMMENT-OF-THE-YEAR2809d ago

6tflops will not produce native 4k, Pc's even have a hard time hitting 4k native.

SCW19822809d ago

Sad you get disagrees from actual facts.

Nathan_Hale532808d ago

Got an overclocked i5 and an overclocked GTX 1070, and it doesn't play native 4k hardly. Maybe at 30 frames at high settings instead of ultra, but I don't like 30 frames per second and drops with it as well. Console people also think Teraflops = real performance when that is theoretical performance. my 1070 at roughly 6.7-6.8 plays games at 1080p at 120+ or 2k at 45-70 fps (depending on the game). Hell, the GTX 750 ti at 1.4 or so paired with a cheap i3 out performs both consoles at 1080p by a good margin. They wanna argue "console optimizations" but their is hardly any evidence that shows how much of an improvement gain consoles get with optimizations.

KiwiViper852809d ago

I bet Phil and co. were doing cartwheels during Sonys conference

MagicBeanz2809d ago

Probably not, he's not the fanboy you are, Phil has stated many times over in interviews he owns and plays Playstation.

MagicBeanz2809d ago

Not that you ever had any interest anyway but we get what you're doing.

CorndogBurglar2809d ago

I think Native 4K is a bit optimistic man. And that isn't a knock on Microsoft in any way. I just don't think its possible yet for a console. Unless Scorpio is going to blownthe doors off with gigantic hardware upgrades I just don't think it can pull off Native 4k.

But I'd like to be wrong!

Roronoa04112809d ago

Have fun waiting while most of us play games in much higher quality in a couple months

Maxor2809d ago

God I was looking forward to the PS4 Neo so much. I thought it was the answer, really I did. But the lack of 4K BD support and 1080p 60 FPS crushed my hopes and dreams.

This is nothing more a more expensive PS4 with shit features and lame scaling. If I want scaling in my games I would buy a Xbox.

showtimefolks2809d ago (Edited 2809d ago )

EpicSandwich

believe me i am a big sony fan(not hiding it) they really dropped the ball. but if you think you are getting native 4k under $499 than you are being naive. some of the higher end cards still can't handle 4k that smoothly.

will it better than ps4 yes sir because it's specs are better

i can't believe sony didn't include UHD bluray

but the price advantage is to sony. they can easily sell ps4 pro at $349($299 if needed) by the time scorpio launches. price may not matter to us core gamers but to casuals it matters. so for over one year ps4 pro will be a premium console on the market at $399. just look at OG ps4 vs xbox one. price matters more than we the core gamers understand. imagine asking a casual gamer $150 extra for scorpio when they can buy ps4 pro? ms must price it right

by the time scorpio comes out ps4 could be leading by 25-30 million

but than personally i wouldn't mind waiting if the specs are worth it. sony should have done better much better for that $399. after a long time i am disappointed with a playstation console. instead of pushing the boundaries they settled

one big advantage to ps4 pro is that gamers can start playing games at better res and FPS in november instead of possibly next november

i was really looking forward to neo(will still buy it possibly) but i can't say i am happy

SCW19822809d ago

Sadly I am in the same boat.

Vedo2809d ago

Scorpios 6TFlops aren't enough for native 4K gameplay, it will upscale aswell. Even the GTX1080 can't hit 4K&60fps, and that card is almost 10 TFlops.

SCW19822809d ago

Disagrees from facts. Awesome

NotEvenMyFinalForm2809d ago (Edited 2809d ago )

GTX 1080 (9 Tflops) + i7 Skylake (have in mind that even an i3 blows the Jaguar cores out of the water by a pretty massive margin)

unstable 40fps on Doom: https://www.youtube.com/wat...
unstable 40fps on Battlefield 1: https://www.youtube.com/wat...
unstable 30fps on Witcher 3: https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Just so people realize that even Scorpio will have to sacrifice a lot for the 4k too and there will never be a single game that hit 4k/60fps unless they upgrade the CPU to Zen. But then expect a pretty hefty price tag.

SCW19822809d ago

Your gonna be waiting longer than that for native 4K 30 fps unless they cut corners in other areas. Rocking a GTX1080 and it can't do 30 fps consistently.

conanlifts2809d ago (Edited 2809d ago )

The ps4 pro is almost everything we were led to believe, which is good, minus the uhd drive, which is a big disappointment for me. Now im torn between getting the s for uhd drive or neo for games (Neo will likely win out, but the lack of uhd player is a shame). It's not an issue for everyone, but the lack of uhd player will cost them some sales regardless of what some people will say. Having said this it will sell well,i am just a bit disappointed by the drive.
As for Scorpio it sounds great, but i wouldnt guarantee true 4k on every game unless they up the specs. Even MS have said not every game will be 4k.

Antifan2809d ago

Now power is important and exclusives don't matter? Funny how views and opinions change when the shoe is on the other foot.

I don't think MS learned anything from their constant defeat from Sony. PS didn't sell 50 million units because of power, but the exclusives. It's the only thing that makes a console relevant.

conanlifts2809d ago (Edited 2809d ago )

The ps sold well due to numerous factors. The unveiling of xbox cost ms huge amounts. Kinect and lack of power cost them more. But exclusives not really. Xbox has a better total game line up by years end. Uncharted 4 was the best game by far. But xbox has more than 1 great game by years end, although it had been sparse until now. For ps4 no mans sky was a flop and gt has been delayed.
So i would prefer the xbox exclusives personally due to this. Gears, dead Rising 4 and recore all look great, in contrast nothing else on the ps4 appeals. But its all personal opinion and the xbox will never get uncharted, horizon zero dawn or god of war.

Hoffmann2809d ago

A true upgrade..without almost no exclusive games 'tho

2809d ago
xfiles20992809d ago

SO you are getting a PC Cuzz you aint getting Native 4k on the scorpio

medman2808d ago (Edited 2808d ago )

@epicsandwich

I hate to burst your bubble, but it's likely the Scorpio will upscale to 4k as well. It may, and I stress may, be able to achieve 4k@30fps native for some games, and perhaps even native 4k@60 for very non-gpu intensive games, but considering Nvidia's 1080, which is about 9 teraflops, and the Titan X, which is about 12 teraflops, cannot achieve 4k@60fps at ultra settings for games, you're putting a lot on the Scorpio.

Personally, I don't want the Scorpio to kill itself trying to achieve native 4k if it means the effects have to be turned way down to achieve it. I would be pretty happy with native 1440p@60fps, or upscaled 4k@60fps. Microsoft is on record saying it's up to developers on how to best utilize the tech and power, so I'm expecting to see a pretty broad approach to resolution and framerate depending on the type of game being made, and how to get the best effects possible at the highest resolution and framerate possible.

DefenderOfDoom22808d ago

But, you have to wait over a year for that . What hardware do play video games on right now?

Skillz12152808d ago

um what did you expect a full fledged new console like MS?

Nathan_Hale532808d ago

Yeah, where did you play the PS4 pro? Highly doubt 4k will be that playable on either console. Except for indies and some of the earlier games.

XanderZane2808d ago (Edited 2808d ago )

I'll wait for Sony to offer some serious bundles with the PS4 Pro before I get one. It is disappointing though. No true 4K gaming and even if they pulled it off the fps would be horrible. Why bother. They have a nice upscaler, but so does the XBox One S, which will upscale all their games to 4K as well. Oh well. I'll be waiting patiently for the 'Beast' to be released next year.

@ULTsupterfugee
It started over 10 years ago. You're late.

iTechHeads2808d ago

Sure you are. I believe you.

2600Thunder2808d ago

We'll see. MS is all about social media buzz, making the Xbox into a closed PC, and 300% markups on x86 parts. You can build your own Scorpio now and it will even have Xbox games too!

$399 is a killer deal for what we get in this pure gaming console that's here, now. 1 year is a long time in tech. By then newer PC hardware will be out so I want the PS4P for Sony exclusives/PSVR.

“I think customers’ expectations are changing. I think that console generations are really, really exciting for people, but super disruptive to developers and to customers. And this idea that we’re thinking beyond console generations doesn’t mean that we’re not going to have exciting, new, more powerful hardware.”

“But we look for a continuity of players and content and accessories that’s kind of unprecedented, and I think Scorpio is our first foray into that,” he continued. “I think you’re going to go through a period in the industry where people just have to get used to change, because this is a new idea. But I like our vision of forward compatibility, I like our vision beyond console generations. I’m very confident that we’re going to deliver customers a great experience on Scorpio and that co-existence of the Xbox One and S and Scorpio at the same time is going to be a really great thing. I’m really excited about it.”

Interesting....I can't wait for the reveal of Scorpio. Phil and the Xbox team need to play their cards right. I would like to know the AMD tech powering Scorpio and the VR Hardware it will support at launch. Hopefully we'll get some info later this year or early next year.

Also MS just confirmed again to polygon that Scorpio will indeed launch with a 4k bluray player. Nice. Especially since I plan to buy a 4k TV next year.

Genuine-User2809d ago (Edited 2809d ago )

Polaris and Zen.

Edit: well the current AMD RX 480 can boost up to 5.8 teraflops, as far as I know. Microsoft will most probably use a custom configured version of the Polaris RX 480 and pair it with a Zen CPU, which is reportedly on par with the latest Intel technology.

christocolus2809d ago (Edited 2809d ago )

Why do you think so? Just curious cos I was thinking they'd be using something new i.e heavily customized version of some tech not currently available in the market. If not MS would have easily launched the Scorpio this year, don't you think so?

donthate2809d ago

Nah, it will be Vega and Zen. Why stick with Polaris? It is old technology by next year. Both Zen and Vega is expected next year in the early part, which gives MS plenty of time to have it integrated into Scorpio.

MS will use the latest architecture. Sony would too, if the technology was ready. It isn't.

DeadlyFire2809d ago (Edited 2809d ago )

Console probably will have Zen Lite thin CPU cores like Jaguar.
Vega is pretty much guaranteed. Microsoft doesn't have to touch 6 Tflops. Anything above 5.5 Tflops can be marketed as 6 Tflops. Vega can run cooler than Polaris as well.

Bigpappy2809d ago

I personally have no interest in VR. I am just excited to have that much power as I already have a very good 4K TV.

My game are going to run so smoth, and Scorpio so powerful, that it will be good for many years.

Loktai2809d ago (Edited 2809d ago )

Scorpio will play xbone games, and per Microsoft the Scorpio will have no exclusives , every game will be on xbox one vanilla too.... it won't play anything that xbox one isn't already capable of, similar to the ps4 pro. have fun for the next 14 months with two machines more powerful and once you buy it, a year later it'll be obsoleted by a new generation not just a slightly more powerful mid generation upgrade like Scorpio is to ps4p.

BLKxSEPTEMBER2809d ago

Time for 3rd parties to jump back in! Scorpio will be the lead platform once it's released so momentum should shift back in MS favor.

Majin-vegeta2809d ago

Devs will go where the money is and that will be the popular console. If yoy think you're average joe is gonna jump on thw Scorpio if its $499+ You gotta be dreaming.

BLKxSEPTEMBER2809d ago

We don't know the price so everything is speculation but what I do know is that develop ALWAYS go where the power is. Don't really matter to me cause I'll be getting both Pro and Scorpio. It will just be nice to play the superior version of 3rd party games back on xbox

threefootwang2809d ago

That wasn't really an issue when the PS3 with its "high" price came out. Granted it was offering numerous features for a competitive price compared to the rest of the market (albeit even if we did think it was expensive still). If MS can offer a comparative package with Project Scorpio, then that justification can be made. We still don't know the final price yet either so until anythings official, it's up in the air.

COMMENT-OF-THE-YEAR2809d ago

Yeah they typically don't jump if the pool is much bigger in another area. That and they know that 4k TV's is not standard at the moment.

BLKxSEPTEMBER2809d ago

You sure about that? At 599 the PS3 sold very well and over time it over took the 360 in sales. I don't see why the same thing won't happen with Scorpio. Everyone I know with a X1 says they are buying it and price was never mentioned. You people can downplay it all you want but Scorpio will be a success regardless of what some of you say. Devs will begin to make Scorpio the lead console just like the 360 often was. Multi plats will be better on Scorpio for the same reasons multiplats are better on ps4 opposed to X1. And the Scorpio is not targeting the average joe it's a premium console.

Goldby2809d ago (Edited 2809d ago )

@BLK

PS3 sold amazingly well because at 700 it was still the cheapest Bluray player on the market, coupled with the fact you could install other OS on ps3, store movies and music, swap HDD, download movies off the net onto the console, all those are selling features.

and fi Developers ALWAYS go where the power is, why was Quantum break developed for the Xbox one? why was titanfall only on Xbox One? the only reall pro for non gamers with the Scorpio was lost when they added 4kBluray disc drive in the one S. for all we know, when teh Scorpio comes out it will leave consumers with a choice to buy a 4kblue ray player with one s for 300 or scorpio for 500-600. Sony is most likely already ankle deep in development for the PS5. and most likely keeping the 4kblue ray player for that to do what they did with the ps3.

MS recently developed this VR tech to combat nausea, I wonder if it will be used with whatever VR hardware they decide to go with for Scorpio. I can't wait for their reveal.

It wasn't true when the PS2 released and the Xbox was Stronger and it wasn't true when the Xbox 360 released but the PS3 was Stronger.

This generation ended up being different with PS4 and Xbox One, but regardless developers are on the console that is selling more.

The last three generations developers have gone where the money is plain and simple.

It's funny that people are making such a huge deal about this whole PS4 vs XBox Scorpio. Scorpio still has a year out of course it's going to be stronger.

REDDURT2809d ago

you cant make that console off the shelf for 399

Markusb332809d ago

So your excited for 3rd party sales? What ever does it for you I guess. MS basically lost and are starting again with a new generation including bc, let's all be honest. I'm sure they can't close 20 Mil install gap. So start again is all they can do.

madmonkey012809d ago

so development will shift to scorpio once it launched, so in 3 years time we might see the benefit from third parties?

kneon2809d ago

No, developers will target the largest install base, and that won't be Scorpio.

Majin-vegeta2809d ago

* At 599 the PS3 sold very well and over time it over took the 360 in sales. I don't see why the same thing won't happen with Scorpio*

How can I put this...("OUTSIDE OF THE U.S.& UK")the xbox is pretty much non existant.Thats why it wont happen.

Devs will move on from the xb1 and start doing games for the scorpio just like they did when the ps3 was released as some devs stopped doing games for the ps2 and focused upon the ps3 ......edit so guess devs will be doing xb1 games forever then according to the downvotes but i guess using logic is wrong

PizzaSteve2809d ago

MS said themselves they releasing all games on XB and Windows so yeah no exclusives.

GameBoyColor2809d ago

Besides the fact that MS said that they plan on integrating all or most xbox (1st party)games into the pc platform, yeah we have no proof that the scorpio will have exclusives. And don't give me the "it's windows 10" talk, pc does not = xbox.

We are already seeing this with their biggest games for the one also coming out on pc right now.

jun19inf2809d ago

@PizzaSteve, Obviously you don't understand what Microsoft is giving it's gamers with the ability to play games both on the PC and Xbox Scorpio. No exclusives? You still need Xbox live to play online and the game still requires Windows OS to run so explain to me again just how the game is not exclusive to the MS ecosystem? Get a clue fanboy. Hell even Sony is starting to offer it's games for the PC through their PlayStation Now service. Sony's vision is to allow you to play their games anywhere without a PlayStation so get a grip as your precious company is heading in the same direction.

Unspoken2809d ago

Of course they have exclusives, Microsoft exclusives.

Markusb332809d ago

I'm sure it will have great games. All I know is the most talented and diverse developers are on a different platform for me. It's all personal taste, I don't know why anyone cares what other people buy or play.

Goldby2809d ago

Jun19inf

2 very different systems.

MS you buy a game on pc/xbox one you can play it on PC/Xbox1. getting 2 versions of the game for 1 price.

Sony is streaming their games via a paid subscription or rental fee. you never own it. its for people who dont want to fork out alot of cash for a console, or comapnies who wont mind if a ps4 controller goes missing instead of an entire console (hotels, resorts, people on the fence)

Just because you can stream the games to pc doesn't mean theya re available to PC. you can stream them to TVs as well, does that make Sony the only company to have exclusive games on the TV platform?

annoyedgamer2809d ago

Won't matter...exclusives are a dying breed. Its all PC centered now.

Majin-vegeta2809d ago

Maybe on xbox...PS4 still has "Exclusives"

Malice-Flare2809d ago

keyword "WILL." PS4 Pro will have one year with the market to itself...

cabinotier2809d ago (Edited 2809d ago )

time will not boost the power of PS4 Pro though.

BlackTar1872809d ago

It doesn't have too seriously history has proven ps has the more diverse higher rated games. What part of posting video games and a proven track record is hard to understand? Every gen ps puts them out new and sequels in numbers that's a fact backed up by any source you can tangibly use to back up such a claim. The it's not better for me is not a tangible verifiable standard you can use in an argument based around numbers.

Last year xbox had no first party games for 9 months this year it's the same. What isn't sinking in with that consistency?

2808d ago
PunisherRevenge2808d ago (Edited 2808d ago )

Lol....No it wont. The Xbox One S does the exact same thing the PS4 Pro does. Not only that but it has a 4k Blu Ray player and its cheaper.

New PlayStation Handheld Reported Again, Supposedly Runs PS4 Games

Another leaker has claimed that a PSP/PS Vita style PlayStation handheld is in the works, and it'll supposedly support PS4 games.

anast13h ago

If this is true, it will crush everything for the price.

VenomUK4m ago

The Switch works because you get the latest console and play the same game at home or in handheld mode. No matter how sweet a PS4 Portable might seem it would effectively be a RETRO system. If there was a way to make a PS5 handheld that is, for example, 1080p but plays all the same latest games and allows you to continue play at home or in handheld mode that could work.

-Foxtrot11h ago

If you had every PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP and PSV game then sure but I mean if it's just the PS4 why not just get a Steam Deck?

anast56m ago

You might be correct, but it depends on the price point. Also, most PC gamers wait years for Sony releases, so it might be better just to get the PS4 handheld.

MrBaskerville15m ago(Edited 14m ago)

If it supports your library, some people own more ps4 games than steam games. I know I do.

MeteorPanda1h ago

I still play my vita. The oled screen was too good for it's time. I obviously had to home brew it but playing my old snes/ps1 games on it is so good.

Skuletor48m ago

How many people will buy this at launch? As a Vita owner, I'd definitely hold back after how Sony's support for that turned out.
Also, PSP played near PS2 quality games, PS Vita played near PS3 quality games, shouldn't the next Playstation handheld be aiming for near PS5 quality?

MeteorPanda0m ago

the sadest thing on vita support for me was the removal of Close? The app that let you see local players and what they were playing. i made friends back in the day for co op that way lol.

I think it was privacy breaching? such a shame.

So that’ll be £1000 with a zen 5 cpu and god know what graphics card

Good one

Also now they have promised cod on nintendos systems, the switch 2 might become VERY popular as a cod console with the kids, tethering it to their 5g phones, or the schools WiFi hehehe

chicken_in_the_corn13h ago

Don't believe it. The documents from the FTC case say 2028 and that holds more weight than this.

ThinkThink12h ago

I think they are going to drop a handheld next year and a next gen console the year after. I think it'll be one sku though at launch

crazyCoconuts2m ago

Why would they expand the Xbox hardware footprint when their foundation is crumbling?
Creating a handheld would take a great deal of focus during a time where MS is struggling under the weight of their new game company acquisitions. Those handheld comments were just more Phil diarrhea of the mouth- nothing serious behind it, certainly not within a year

Zeref1h ago

A lot of things in that document turned out to be cancelled plans though. We should have seen the digital series X by now and the new controller.

crazyCoconuts10m ago

I'd put money on no Xbox console. It's over. 1:5 compared to competition and if the exclusives come to PlayStation it's only gonna get worse. Come this holiday PS Pro will be wooing all the power fiends that aren't in the PC camp just in time for GTA6.
By the time the next Xbox would be ready, they'd practically be starting over and the Xbox name will be trash. No exec will approve that risk and Satya will want to put this embarrassing L behind him.

Sonic18813h ago(Edited 3h ago)

Microsoft has a long ways to go when it comes to the gaming industry

ravens522h ago

This is another thing MS is doing that I don't like. Like chill, foster your teams and try to make the beginning of some good series on the already powerful series x. They are trying to rush this gen. It's coming up on four years. So this gens life will be 5 years and on the 6th the next gen will be released? Stupid. Makes no sense especially seeing how long everyone has supported the Ps4 and Xbox 1. Annoying.

OtterX2h ago

Yea, they have had terrible 1st party support for 2 gens now. Why would anyone rush out to get this new XBox, especially when they plan to bring the games they do have to Playstation? I love PS5 + Switch + PC. I don't see the point of an XBox console at all.

Reaper22_2h ago

Perhaps some people like playing games on xbox.

Sonic188146m ago(Edited 44m ago)

"I don't see the point of an XBox console at all."

You can play Xbox games on a smart TV in 1080p now lol as long it has the game pass app. No need for an Xbox

Einhander19722h ago

So, Microsoft has sold less consoles than the previous gen the past two generations with this most recent generation falling off the most. And in this current generation the most popular console by far is the least expensive one. But they are going to try to push out another console that is supposedly powerful not the thing that actually worked for them a cheap game pass console...

And they are going to come out with this thing when the PS5 Pro will be on the market so it's unlikely that they will be able to make any significant power gains. Certainly not to the point that PlayStation 5 won't be able to play the games. Heck we see how long the PS4 has stayed relevant, PS4 games will still be getting released in 2026. And given their console sales track record no publisher under the sun is going to skip PlayStation to make games for xbox. And with the way Microsoft is positioning themselves as such a rival publisher I can't imagine many publishers really looking to prop xbox up. Heck we hear rumors of publishers skipping xbox for releases.

If this is actually true, this thing is DOA.

crazyCoconuts0m ago

Exactly. This will never make it out of the gate.
The proof will be if these rumors about more exclusives coming to PS. If they were planning to keep the hardware alive, they'd be hoarding those exclusives, because everyone knows you need exclusives to secure a platform
