Breasts and Dead or Alive 5: Last Round

It’s no secret that Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, and the Dead or Alive series as a whole, prides itself on breasts and butts. Over the years, the sex appeal has become inseparable from the franchise, be it the mainline fighting game series or the XTREME spin-offs. Dead or Alive loves to show people mammary glands and it makes no concessions to adhere to any politically correct sensibilities.

Yea, it's become completely senseless as DOA strives to find an identity beside actual good fighting games. I'm all for some skin but it's already past completely ridiculous, it's at the point where it doesn't even make sense anymore. Big breasted women fighting with clothing that limits their ability to fight just for the sake of turning on horny, lonely teenagers...

It's too bad it doesn't focus on being a little more politically correct, it may have actually rediscovered it's place alongside MK, SF and Tekken.

jessionpc2883d ago

BTW I'm buying the next Extreme Beach Volley Ball.

Yes I'm being a hypocrite.

hay2883d ago

I consider DoA, despite this boob madness, much better game than recent MK, SF and Tekken. It was conceived by Itagaki, and we all know how Itagaki can be.

EcoSos32883d ago

That's not so bad its just some fan service, but whats bad is the price I bet all this skins combine is worth like 3 times the price of the game.

addictedtochaos2883d ago

Yeah, they have released several season passes that are nothing but skins and they cost several hundred dollars.

Darkwatchman2883d ago

Why would DOA need to be more politically correct? It has its niche as a sexy game and that's what fans expect and want. Also, if you're actually familiar with the DOA series, despite the fact that each DOA game focuses more on the titties, each one also is a better fighting game at its core.

DOA 5: Last Round is the deepest DOA has ever been as a fighter without abandoning the accessibility the earlier entries are known for so it doesn't need to be more politically correct. It needs to remain as is and continue being a competent fighter with tits.

doa is actually a solid fighting game though.

AHall882883d ago (Edited 2883d ago )

I already consider DoA one of the best fighting series out there along with Tekken. No need to change a thing about DoA. it's perfectly fine as is.

Then again I hate SF and MK. (Can't stand 2d fighters, for the most part.)

Back in the start of DOA it was actually a decent fighter headed by Itagaki. 1 and 2 had decent fighting fighting systems and wasn't totally bogged down with fan service.

But it has the worst problems now. Hundreds of dollars of microtransactions and a dead online community.

Darkwatchman2883d ago (Edited 2883d ago )

What are you talking about? The fanservice does NOT bog it down nowadays. Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is the most complex the Dead or Alive series has ever been while still maintaining the accessibility the earlier entries were known for. The older games are far too simplistic in this day and age as fighting games.

Each successive Dead or Alive becomes deeper so if each game gets more fanservice, but at the same time becomes deeper, how exactly does the fanservice bog it down????

Yeah, the excessive costume DLC is something I'm totally against, but the tits in general and the actual core mechanics of the game are perfectly fine

rainslacker2883d ago (Edited 2883d ago )

I feel that DOA in general, has always gotten better as a fighter as it progressed. At the same time, the fan service has always gotten more and more with each release, and there's no denying that DOA5, and it's successors in the same line, are some of the most fan service riddled games out there.

The fan service is abundant, and usually pretty laughable, but I don't feel it's detracted from the game at all. Outside of playing online with those that actually spend the money, you don't really have to be subject to most of the fan service. I actually rarely come across people that have more than the free or unlockable costumes.

At least the costume DLC is entirely optional, and not required for playing. I wouldn't mind if they made it unlockable through some sort of in game currency though. I would never pay for it myself, as the provided fan service is more than plentiful, and I don't really care either way.

TimelessDbz2883d ago

Like seriously most of the costumes like the one in the thumbnail can not even be seen in game. You actually have to go out of your way and download a catalog. They are some sexy costumes but really mostly casual clothing.

People really need to stop with the hate on this game and just try it themselves . Free to play and the fighting system itself is very very in depth . I play lots and lots of fighting games and i can tell you DOA is extremely competitive but like most anime fighters no one wants show up for a tournament.

Since we are on the subject, I think Dead or Alive has really made leaps and bounces in regards to the portrayal of the physics of titties whilst a female of unnatural strength and agility moves about. I wonder how many calculations are processed to portray realistic titty motion.

Many details for the upcoming rumored Resident Evil 1 remake have already leaked online. Capcom appears to have huge ambitions for it.

Sounds interesting I'll be interested in the second remake of re1

fsfsxii5m ago

Cant wait until they cut the basement section and replace it with something worse.

Becuzisaid3m ago

While I want another modern remake of 1, I think code Veronica should be first. The first re1 remake holds up amazingly well. Give CV it's due.

As long as the Crimson Heads are back.
