with Free to play you can get free maps with update and with microtransaction you can buy weapons (if you don't have time) or you can unlock weapons by playing the game and invest alot of time
i played Free to play games without spending any money on it because i want to feel rewarded on unlocking something
and btw the ones that are hurting the industry are the gamer itself, no need to blame Publishers and Developers
