Yes, I love the Ratchet and Clank series. I've played them all. My absolute favorite character (besides R&C themselves) is Mr. Zurkon.

I don't like Ratchet and Clank. Any platforming game that heavily features shooting, robots, collecting tiny pieces of junk and scifi settings is a step away from the classic platform themes of Mario and Banjo Kazooie. Jet Set Radio was one of the few departures from haunted houses, tropical beaches and underwater caverns to make a worthy platform series heir to earlier styles. And even though Sunset Overdrive is a shooter, at least it is in a classic platform game tradition in its giant theme park feel. Not pseudo scifi.

"Shooting"? Just a method of combat, which all platformers tend to have. In terms of actual shooting, Rayman could fire balls, BK could fire eggs, Mario had fireballs, etc. It's cool that Ratchet has an arsenal of so many different weapons to shoot with. That's a pro, not a con.
"Robots"? Don't be robophobic now. Even Gruntilda (BK villain) became a robot.
"Collecting tiny pieces of junk"? Isn't that the objective of every platforming game ever? BK had jiggies, jingos, honeycombs, stop n swop key that didn't work, notes, etc. At least that metal 'junk' holds potential value to Ratchet (a mechanic) and Clank (his robot).
"Sci fi settings"? You mean like Super Mario Galaxy? What's wrong with a Sci-Fi setting? There's unlimited possibilities set in space. All these games have fictional worlds anyway, so I don't see the issue.

I think you're being a bit unfair to the series and just want to criticise it. Would you really prefer a generic platformer rehash? Ratchet stands on its own sub-genre of platforming, alongside games like Jak & Dexter. If you don't like it, that's cool (it'seems your opinion), but many of us do. Hence why the series has been so successful.

You want another Mario clone, just go back and play classic Mario, if you hate si fi, shooting, robots, collectables and such. Also if you think hard, old school mario games have a lot of these elemts too.

This game is looking so amazing, but why the hell did Insomniac keep the combuster?.. They've literally been using that since Tools of Destruction, and it's just not a great weapon... They really should have just gone back to the original machine pistol from the original...

On that note, it amazes me how beautiful the graphics are. There's just so much nostalgia here. I remember fighting the blargian snaggle beast in the original... That and those crazy snake spider things and mutant frogs lol. Good times.

I would say this is about as close to CGI as possible on console. Sunset OD for XB1 and R&C for PS4....gotta love Insomniac's talent.
