Meh, 1.5x GTA and only .5 of ARMA 3. Doesn't seem that massive to me but that isn't gonna stop it from being awesome.

1.5x of GTAV is huge. Just think, GTAV's map may not feel that large because you are traveling at speeds of 80+ in vehicles while traveling. If you walked it or took a moped, it's huge! On horseback or foot, The Witcher 3 will be gihugic! We both do agree though, it's going to be awesome! :)

Thanks for the tip, I've never seen any of Gopher's videos and this one was very good. I really love how the wind affects the trees, bushes and grass, makes the game world look very convincing.

GTA V map can be traversed north to south in 10 mins... ...by a 400mph jet...lol

This is huge and i think that xbskull needs to quit. I have to say that when you drop your self off in the middle of a desert ot woods after a jump in GTA, you realize that the world is huge when it takes 30 mins to run to the nearest highway.

I was on the fence, but the more I see, the more impressive & gorgeous this game looks, very detailed (walking thru those villages, its like I wanna look out for cow poo ;P)

I wonder how the guys @NeoGaf came by 136 sq km? Plus I thought I heard GTA V was 100 sq miles, significantly bigger than 81 sq km (unless they mean just the city of Los Santos)

I dont think you interpreted the article properly. Its 1.5x bigger than gta 3.3 times bigger than RDR and 3.5 times bigger than skyrim. It isnt as big as all three put together. But it is still a humungous map to explore nonetheless, it'll feel way bigger than gta v only because you have a horse and you run you arent going 250mph in a car.

You should check out the original NeoGaf link in the article. It is ONLY the main map area that is 136KMsq. There are 4-6 other areas as well. If each of those areas is small at even 30kmsq then you have 136+(30x4)=256kmsq.

So yeah, as was said, bigger than GTA V + Skyrim + RDR combined = HUuuuGE!

Actually, it seems that quite a few mechanics in Witcher 3 are directly lifted from Dragon Age (radial menu, horse riding/summoning, etc.)

it is like 10x Skyrim size, two big open maps. One No Mans Land + Novigrad City and second SKellige Islands around 10 of them.

I like Witcher games, but simply having a bigger world is not innovation. I wanna see new concepts,interesting characters and stories. I also hope they improved combat, it was the weakest link in Witcher 2 in my opinion.

Aww man, that would be awesome. I wonder how many ingame days it would take to walk the entire game map.
I make it a point in open world game to walk more than run. The default movement speed seems to always be on run, but I prefer to walk and take in the sights - plus it's more realistic - nobody just runs everywhere they go.

i think we need to stop talking about map sizes at this moment in time. lets play the game and see if we really needed anything this big? is it going to be full of content where i will be interested in taking part of?

In games like these if the world is good offering up plenty of exploration and has good stories with good characters im ok with the combat being the weakest link as long as the combat is not broken or is so horrible that it makes the game unplayable or unenjoyable. Take for instance the two worlds games and arcania. Those games didn't have great combat but the meat of the game kept me going. Even skyrim and oblivions combat was just okay if not pretty good but the worlds with all the exploration and not knowing what kind of quest you were gonna find next or what cool piece of loot and the good books all drive me to spend a couple hundred hours with those games. Thats what it's all about for me.
