Me too, I was expecting maybe 3-4 movies for each studio, maybe some tv shows. but they really have a nice selection. Ups too Sony exceeding expectations.

i remember about 1-2 months ago, people were making a big deal that even though sony is opening up the store, they didnt get any contracts to distribute with other studios yet, guess they are gonna have to shut their mouths now. goes to show you that sony has good ties in the idustry.

great list, great support off the get go, but im alittle disappointed with some of the pricing- 1.99 for an episode of family guy? its 20 mins long, or i can get an episode of myth busters twice as long for the same price? interesting.... and why are different rentals different prices... guess time will work everything out...

i agree. i just bought an episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force for +$2. i like 15 minutes long.....if that. i love that show though.

i hope they adjust pricing soon. i had $2 to blow but i doubt i'll make many purchases. i'll probably rent a few things this weekend to try out the upscaling quality of the SD movies.

The price is ridiculous compared to just having to pay for Netflix.
Maybe for the price of "buy", give another option of paying more and being able to download while they send you the blu-ray for keep?
Or maybe offer the netflix type of deal for all you can download off the rentals.

I believe the Ronin Warriors series is licensed under Bandai Entertainment at the moment. However, they did cease production of DVDs a while back so I'm not too sure.

to bad here wasnt a way to xfer unused points to another account. I'd take them off your hand. I hate the oddball point system of live. I had 350 points left over and just spent 160 on the south park guitar queer-o episode. So now I have 190 which is enough for another show (maybe a family guy) but it just doesnt add/subtract right. I'll be left with 30 points. You can't get jack for 30 frikin points.

well I'm not exactly sure if there 500GB internal HDD's but I got my 120GB internal for my ps3 around a year ago and it cost around $60.. Prices are much cheaper now. Try newegg.com I'm pretty sure thats where I got mine from...

i grabbed myself a Seagate 320gig 5400rpm drive. Specs wise it is closest to the original drive Sony put in, just WAY more space ^_^
Should come in around $100 or so

So one i find lame about the video store is a few movies are buy only! i was all set to rent the bank job, then i found out i could only buy it for 10 bucks. just really a minor complaint

with the benchwarmers. I would think they would let the user be able to rent to own the movies. Like you can rent it for $2.99 or whatever and when you do, you could rerent it for half price if you wanted to watch it at a different time. Or you get a break on the price if you purchase the license.

Why did they go the rental route like MS? Doesnt make sense. Most people may want to watch the rental more than once over a period of a couple of days. I am not going to try and watch it X number of times in 24hrs. I hate that about live movie rentals too. You are downloadng the content, not streaming it. So you should be allowed 2-3 days worth of viewing instead of just 1.

This is new for them so maybe they will make that happen as time goes by.

the PSN store to me already has a leg up on XBL market place because you have the option to BUY MOVIES. on XBL movies are rentals only. an with me rather having movies on a HDD is better than disc to me, so NOW i guess its time for me to get a bigger HDD. to bad im wasting 10 gigs on my HDD with linux installed because i never use it. but im liking what sony is doing here. last thing, if they can get new releases day an date on the PSN as they release on DVD then that would be HUGE!!

Hope Bandai Entertainment jumps on the bandwagon soon. Dreaming of Code Geass is becoming harder and harder to bear with. I hope Viz goes to. Death Note, Bleach, and Naruto demand it. And lite-WTF? at Funimation for not including one of their best selling and most well known anime series, Full Metal Alchemist, right from the get go. Still, incredible initial offering. And a long time coming too. With all the delays lately that seem to be synonymous with Sony, this is a breath of fresh air. I haven't seen anything on the TV portion that I can't put on my DVR (HD or otherwise), but the movie selection is pretty vast for the launch. When I first heard the news, I was expecting MAYBE 5 movies available and possibly a FEW TV shows, but the variety is pretty good.

Good to see Adult Swim and FX on there, no Nip/Tuck though *sigh*. Hoping to see Comedy Central and some uncensored South Park soon though. Yes, that's right 360, you owe us for FF13.....j/k, seriously, good for you guys on the FF13, more money made by Square equals better games.

Whoever said digital download is the wave of the future must be smoking a ton of crack. On a 15 meg RR connect I started downloading the 1080 version of 1000 BC at 10 PM, its now 1:10 AM in the morning and its only 68% done.

That and you can be guaranteed on downloaded content that the audio is compressed to hades, and the video bit-rate is extremely low.

Blu-Rays are definitely the way to go if you're going for quality (provided that the studio did a good encode to begin with).

Yeah I agree. I downloaded 1000 BC as a test and it seems the PSN vids suck as much as the Live ones. The image quality blows for something that is branded as "1080". This is barely better than the brutally compressed crap I get from Dish Network. The soundtrack is flat as hell when I switched between the Bluray and the DD, the Bluray sound is clearly superior in all regards.

Oh, and the missing features, WTF? No extra footage, trailers, or even subtittles. Totally weak sauce.

If direct download is the future then count me out. I want no part of a future where you have to pay more to get less.
