Finaly! Iwata has realized he is the boss of a videogame company. Seven years late, but as they say, better late than never! I thought I'll never see a change under Iwata's management, I believed that Nintendo will have to get rid of him first to eventualy do some changes.
Also I'm impressed by the stock market respone to these news, Nintendo stock (NTDOY) jumped almost 30% just today!!! I hope this is the turning point for Nintendo and they start making smart decisions.

im honestly not sure what its caught up to....
all they announced a was partnership with a mobile giant in japan..
well have to wait and see how that benefits gaming,
because it isnt obvious to me
so ill be happy if someone explained to how nintendo deinitively caught up to sony/ms in the console dept via a mobile gaming deal

hkgamer3348d ago

its a business deal based on money. f2p and mobile games make $$$$$$

whilst us console or pc gamers will probably just ignore it.

its most likely a good decision for nintendo and i guess whatever nintendo does to keep revenue/profits up will somehow benefit us because we know nintendo will still be alive and making consoles and handhelds in the next 5 years.

@hkgamer
i never said it was a bad discussion financially
but the OP says ninteno just caught up to the others through this deal.
i dunno how a mobile deal helped them catch up in the console market.if anything , this indicates that the new console will have even more gimmicks tied to it.
how did ninteno catch up by making an unrelated announcement.
the assurance that theyll live means nothing to me, they werent going anywhere for a long time even without it, what i care about is games and im yet to see any announcement that would make a remarkable difference
king(candy crush) made more money than gta v did, does it make you care about mobile? does it improve gaming in any way?

Between this. MS unifying its W10/Xbox platforms and sony looking to stick PSNOW on non PS devices (PC, smart TV), I see drastic changes for the next gen of consoles. I wish nintendo all the best with this.

Yeah and honestly they are all really cool ideas, win 10, PS now, project Morpheus, hololens and such. A lot of times when the companies "push the future" it typically screws us gamers after a while, but this new push seems a little more friendly.

What im really wondering is if these services are being put in place for a move towards a service based format.im slightly concerned that the next consoles MIGHT be the last consoles as we know them.

wohooo, nintendo finally catches up with the rest of us, finally they have moved onto the mobile platform where us gamers on internet gaming communities show much support.

remember how much love we gave companies when they announce big games on mobile, breath of fire, ff etc...

wohooooo, whats not to love.

All I expect is that Nintendo starts building a strong online component. I don't want to hear any more (ridiculous)excuses as to why games like New Super Mario Bros don't have online Coop.

The area where Nintendo is lacking the most is building a real community. Miiverse can barely count as something like that, it's just too arcaic and plain.

With this area fixed and/or improve, a lot more people will take the WiiU seriously

How Many More Victims, Like Garry's Mod, Will Nintendo's Hurtful Crusade Create?

Hanzala from eXputer: "As Nintendo takes out 20 years' worth of stuff from Garry's Mod, I watch in shock, thinking why it continues to hurt and discourage its fans."

The irony that some of the most disgusting business practices come from companies like Disney or Nintendo, i can't even begin to understand what terrible damage was Garrys Mod making to Nintendo bottom line, imho they're getting pretty nervous about where they're heading in the future, handhelds are no longer something exclusive to Nintendo, from Steam Deck to many others, now you can play the latest games and pay a fraction of the price on Steam sales, so it's up to their exclusives, which just on their own would make hard to justify purchasing a closed overpriced hardware with outrageous price policies (Super Mario Odyssey is still 60 euro 6 years later!), and as a home console they're always underperforming compared to Sony or Xbox.

gold_drake13d ago (Edited 13d ago )

i cam guarantee you, that their exclusives alone is what drives switch sales. they sell in the 10s of millions of copies.

nintendo created their franchises to be sort of nostalgia driven, exclusive only on nintendo.

people will always buy the pkmn games as they always bring in new younger fans amd is family friendly

mario kart, the same thing, mario games in general.

zelda games are system sellers. animal crossing for the casual gamers.

nintendo doesnt need third vame devs essentially. they made sure with the switch and the limitations that they looked more to pc ps and xbox.

its sad, but nintendo is more than fine with what they're doing. they positioned themselves to appeal to the more casual gamers.

but to your point, im not sure why they're doing this rly.

Look at how they handled Nintendo games being streamed or uploaded on YouTube in the past. They killed Yuzu and Citra even when they had nothing to do with ToTK being leaked, not to mention it was basically unplayable on emulation the week it was leaked. Smash Bros tournament, that was fairly recent. They shut down their online services without any care for purchases made. I bought a switch after skipping their last 2 consoles and handhelds but I don't plan on buying anything Nintendo in the future. They take things to the extremes, they legitimately hate their fans. They're honestly right up there with the likes of Acti, EA, and Ubi, only difference is that they disguise themselves as being family friendly all the while being shady.

Nintendo's Massacre Of The 3DS And Wii U Is Finally Complete, Regrettably

Hanzala from eXputer: "The cruel hammer of Nintendo has fallen. Farewell, 3DS and Wii U, you surely brightened my life and many others; you won't be forgotten."
