Exclusive Mad Max Screens Show Off The Brutal Wasteland

GI:
We haven’t seen Mad Max in a game for a long while, which makes his return exciting enough. Couple that with the fact that the new title is being developed by Just Cause creators Avalanche Studios, and you’ve got the makings of something special. We got to play the game for several hours during our studio visit, and you can read our impressions in the April cover story of Game Informer magazine. If you missed it, now’s your chance to see a few screenshots from the game, which cover some of its highlights.

Be sure to click the images to see them at full resolution.

Do we know yet if this is 1st or 3rd person perspective?

dreamoner3360d ago

3rd but you can drive in first person also.

Silver_Faux3360d ago (Edited 3360d ago )

3rd but apparently you can switch to 1st person when driving

Edit:dreamoner beat me to it

I hate when we see doctored screens like this.. Give us real screens or just say preview shots. The final game will look nothing like these shots.

@Gamer1982

Sadly, I was thinking the same thing.....been hanging around the Witcher 3 forums and that whole graphic downgrade situation has taught me a thing or two.

I think developers think they can get away with it even more at the moment because people are more likely to believe them due to this being the 'next gen' era.

hiredhelp3361d ago

Me too I got the trilogy of the Movies to have a Game that honor the Movies be great.

thorstein3361d ago

There is a new Mad Max movie coming out. Not sure how it is, Mad Max was just on television the other day.

JWiLL5523361d ago

Seems promising given Tom Hardy is the lead.

Looks amazing if you haven't seen this trailer. Its seems to be shaping up the way the original trilogy was meant to convey, but couldn't due to technological limitations. Just hoping the lead man can step out of the shadows of Mel Gibson.

MazzingerZ3361d ago

I fear it will probably dissapoint you, almost 2 years ago I overheard a conversation on the Stockholm Subway, it was an Avalanche dev complaining to a buddy about this game being a mess and in development forever...he said that all the stuff he programmed might not even in the final product as budget catched up and the ambitious vision changed...many stuff felt updated to today's standard...simplely a game that should have been released a long time ago...I don't think it will live up to 2015's standards.

I find really hard to believe they corrected direction regarding this game....

TheSaint3361d ago (Edited 3361d ago )

@MazzingerZ That's weird because I was in the same subway at the exact same time and you weren't close enough to hear them.

They actually were talking about your dress sense being a mess, not the game.

MazzingerZ3360d ago

@TheSaint
haha, I'm trying to give first hand info here..not my kind of stuff to get into banal discussions, you sound pretty young...what real man cares about how you dress?...but maybe young male generations are more feminine thanks to all the social media pressure..."Likes" on selfies here and there LOL

Why I would lie?...the game is (finally) out soon and sorry but it will bomb

rdgneoz33360d ago

Seeing as they're trying to get the game out to capitalize on the success (hopefully) of the movie (which is suppose to come out in May), hopefully it ends well. Surprised they didn't try to force the game out by May like many other movie games. It sounds like it could be amazing, though it will probably be overshadowed by another big game coming out around the same time (The Phantom Pain).

Tsubasa-Oozora3360d ago

Exactly... why would he lie? Leave the man alone.

@hiredhelp Beyond Thunderdome is pants though.

Lets hope it doesn't honour anything to do with that.

What but everybody needs another hero :)

"I'm the guy who carries Mr. Dead in his pocket."

gangsta_red3361d ago

Oooh man, I'm really getting hyped for this game. The thought of vehicular, Road Warrior style action is getting me excited. I hope these guys are able to capture not only the old movie trilogy but the new one that looks to be good flick too.

6 Games That Genuinely Deserve A Current-Gen Upgrade

Games such as Mad Max, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Batman: Arkham Knight desperately deserve a modern-day revisit.

thorstein34d ago

Mad Max is underrated. Such a fun game.

Cacabunga33d ago (Edited 33d ago )

RDR2 still looks astounding on PS4 Pro. i cannot imagine how it could look with a next gen upgrade.

JonTheGod33d ago (Edited 33d ago )

Probably not very different.

No idea why this article is highlighting recent beautiful graphically-advanced games and saying they need current gen makeovers. They already look better than most new releases; just compare Arkham Knight and Suicide Squad!

exputers33d ago

I see what you did there.

Yi-Long33d ago

It's obviously never gonna happen since Sony killed the game and studio, but Driveclub. Even in its current state, 10 years after release, it still puts many competitors to shame ...

Demetrius33d ago

I'm not into racing games but yeah I even looked at gameplay of that sometimes

redrum065d ago

It's a shame they cancelled the game. Definitely the best racing game I've ever played on Playstation. Just got GT7, but it feels so slow and less arcade-y, which is to be expected of a sim racer of course, that I just enjoy it less.
Driveclub also graphically looked insanely good for its time. I wonder what a Driveclub 2 would look like for the PS5.

Demetrius33d ago

Mad max ikr! Far cry primal, it amuses me how ubisoft just left ac unity hanging, sadly most of the good staff left from rocksteady while being forced to make that abomination smh

I had a blast with a Bugs Bunny game on PS1 as a kid. It is probably trash now but at the time, it was awesome.

"50 Cent: Blood in the sand"

Ps3 scored 6/10 all round loads of review sites but was so much fun while not a technical masterpiece in any way has a worthwhile engaging story and script and of course an unbeatable soundtrack.

jwillj2k4493d ago

Honorable mention to Drive Clubs Ferrari Fxx-K. Should be there over Horizon.

TheColbertinator492d ago

The Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak from the Gran Turismo series

Nissan Skyline from Need for Speed Underground

Motorcycle Steamroller from Dead Rising 3

And finally a car you never drive but saves your ass over and over : Honey Badger from COD MW2

Gardenia492d ago

I was thinking of Mad Max. That V8 felt really good to drive around in, especially with upgrades.

dumahim492d ago

No one liked the Batmobile in Arkham Knight. Top 10?

toxic-inferno492d ago

I don't know... It was a strange addition to the game, and the parts of the game where you had to fight in it were tedious. But driving it around Gotham felt brilliant.
