"Having said that, will the developers have a better chances of hitting 1080p/60fps on the PS4 than the Xbox One?
“We need some smaller targets first (smiles). Let’s create a working build with at least 900p/30fps, then we can tweak it to 1080p/30fps and maybe even more,” Warhorse Studios’ Jiří Rýdl said"

GameNameFame3424d ago (Edited 3424d ago )

It is problematic that 1080p 30 fps is not targeted from get go still.

Devs are clearly not confident with 1080p still. Additionally, it was lack of gpu powers that devs are also having problems on 1080p . That much was already confirmed.

decrypt3424d ago

In their defense most console gamers dont have a clue what resolution is. In fact most of them think PS3 and Xbox 360 managed 1080p lol. They know 1080p because of all the blantant adverts shoved down their throats by the TV industry and console makers.

They absolutely have no clue what frame rate is.

1080p CAPABLE a term that was blatantly abused by console makers last gen specially Sony with all the shit spewed about the Cell lol.

After a decade of failures with last gen consoles, the current gen will be more of them same. 1080p a promise in the failing after 2 decades of trying. Console gamers might finally see 1080p gaming if there ever is another gen of consoles. Meanwhile PC gamers have been playing at 1080p or equivalent resolutions since the 2000's.

Ripsta7th3424d ago (Edited 3424d ago )

Decrypt- We are in the year 2015 , if someone doesnt know what something im pretty sure they google it
Most people know about 1080p its been out for years! First consumer-grade LCD computer monitors were released around 1997, but they were mostly 5:4 and 4:3, and still very rare. It wasn't until 2004 that 16:10 came along, with 1280x800, 1680x1050 and 1920x1200. 1920x1080 came a year or two AFTER that. First time LCD monitors outsold CRT was in 2007. 2008 was when 1920x1080 began to reach mainstream TVs and monitors.

GameNameFame3424d ago (Edited 3424d ago )

Decrypt and xbox fans.

Please quit this damage control.

1080p clearly better with sharper image. Especially if you have big screen. And ps4 is not failing 1080p it already is doing it for 99 percent of the games,

Are you serious telling us people are buying 1080p tv cause they can't tell the difference.

Are you seriously saying people care about high res picture or high res phone screen cause they can't tell?

Quit this desperate straw grap. It is jus getting sad and pathetic.

greatmatt303424d ago

this gen should be hitting 1080p 60fps #PCMASTERRACE

@GameNameFame Their is so many variables to determine resolution, textures FPS, AI, ECT a game could look AMAZING but run at 720p because the textures are so hardware intensive. On top of that i have a 1080p TV but i cant tell the difference between 720p and 1080p because i sit so far away form it if you sit 9inchs away from your screen like you usually do with a PC resolution becomes way more important. on top of that 900-1080 their is not that big of a difference unless your gaming a on a 4k monitor and have to do some serious downgrading.

GameNameFame3423d ago (Edited 3423d ago )

@matt

Your PC screen can be 15 to 20 inch. Your tv Ivan be 40 to 60 inch.

Also, you do realize all those additional things you mentioned will be better with consoles with stronger hardware. You do know that right? It looks better if it does all that and still does 1080p.

And are you seriously saying people just bought 1080p tv for no reason? Even at screens literally 10 times bigger than PC?

Are you serious or just that desperate.

greatmatt303423d ago

@GameNameFame well your PC screen can be 40-60in to but yeah #Consolepeasant

yeah i realize an idiot could realize that. i would rather have my game run at 720P 60fps and have amazing textures then 1080p and look like Vaseline was smeared on the screen. at can easily run half life 2 at 4k on my PC but that doesn't make it look better then shadow or mordor.

UKmilitia3423d ago

agree.

@decrypt resolution does matter if your on a big screen.
so just because u dont notice ,doesnt mean others dont.

clouds53423d ago

Dude my PC screen (when I'm gaming) is 42". Also the screen is not even in the same room as my tower :) and it's in front of a couch.

Btw I find it funny that sony has made the perfect controller for a gaming PC with ms windows while the new ms xb1 controller doesn't even connect wireless to a PC. It's fail on so many lvls and I guess ms just does t need my money.

GameNameFame3423d ago (Edited 3423d ago )

@weakmatt

Lol are you that desperate?

You are the one pointed out that you supposedly don't notice resolution on tv that is10 times bigger. And people bought 1080p tv for no reason.

Sounds like you are the real peasant. Hahahaha.

And ps4 always have same or better graphics setting at higher res compared to Xbox one.

Your arguments getting quite pathetic. Love the damage control though. Just hilarious seeing you contradict your self.

MS has some great engineers.

They could have gears 3 run on a poptart I bet.

larrysdirtydrawss3423d ago

since when??? epic isn't a xbox dev.... maybe the forza 5 team can do it,thats if you like npcs to look like cardboard with plastic buildings

fr0sty3424d ago (Edited 3424d ago )

"Cryengine makes ESRAM easier to handle."

*Still at same resolution/framerate.*

Basically means any gains were keeping the game from being 720p.

spacedelete3424d ago

dycrypt most gamers know what frame rate is. even casuals know what it is and call it slowdown or lag as my FIFA only players call it. stop assuming because its ignorant. resolution is pointless but frame rate is as important as the gameplay itself. anyone saying theres no difference between 60 fps and 22 fps * because so called 30 fps games never hold the frame rate steady * is either lying, stupid or ignorant or all three.

d3nworth13424d ago

You can ignore decrypt. He's a PC troll that goes around n4g spreading lies and misinformation about consoles and people who game on them.

3-4-53424d ago

* Would focusing on art style and less polygons equate to a smoother game at 1080p/60FPS ?

If so, I'm open to scaling back the complexity of the graphics, and having an appealing art style mixed with smooth gameplay & good lighting.

I guess this is good news for those working with cryengine. According to a recent article it seems the just released december sdk update is also reducing the difficulties associated with the esram. Great

Foehammer3424d ago

Continuous improvement is definitely the name of the game.

Great monthly updates and improved developer tools

One only has to look at the launch titles of any console and compare them to the games on the same console years later to see the evolution.

I think were getting to a point of diminishing returns though, as ppl pause games and stand inches from the screen to try and discern any differences.

Saijahn3424d ago

@Foehammer, you need more bubbles my man. The first year of this gen has been a resolution-fest and when that is no longer a problem maybe we can just focus on games again.

maniacmayhem3424d ago

I completely agree with both of you.

It was pretty obvious that the Xbox One had the steeper learning curve but just like the cell processor all that was needed was time.

As the resolution war comes to a close, it'll be interesting to see what the next big hoopla will be.

As you said, hopefully it will return to be about games and gameplay.

strangeaeon3424d ago

I am happy about the improvements, but I find myself caring less and less about this and more about the finished product. Is it fun? Does it look pretty? Is it animated well? If so then I will spend money on it.

TheGreatGamer3424d ago

Fair to say not everyone cares about resolution but for me, anything above 900p is fine. I sit pretty close to my tv so 720p games look blurry pretty close so always happy to get above that

lfc_4eva3424d ago

Sit further back then. Hehehe.

Godmars2903424d ago

Thing is two out of the three concerns you just voiced, appearance and animation, are about graphics.

strangeaeon3424d ago

No shit, hence "finished product". My point was we have become too granular in our scrutiny.

Illusive_Man3424d ago

GamingBolt is obsessed with ESRAM. In the last few months, the ESRAM has become very easy to use and it is going along just great with MSs roadmap. I believe we are currently in stage 3. Also this game isn't going to be 1080p/60 on PS4. PS4 has shown its just not strong enough to routinely handle that graphical output without sacrifices.

DoubleM703424d ago (Edited 3424d ago )

Don't you think it's kind of funny that yesterday ESRAM got praised in the SDK. Now another articles comes out and try to take swipes at the Xbox. Do you see a ton of 1080P 60fps running on either one?

"The power difference between the PS4 and Xbox One, although narrowing down, is pretty apparent at the moment and Warhorse Studios’ upcoming role playing game Kingdom Come Deliverance seems to be a pretty resource intensive game. Having said that, will the developers have a better chances of hitting 1080p/60fps on the PS4 than the Xbox"

Masterchief_thegoat3424d ago (Edited 3424d ago )

Looking foward to dx12, window 10, updates,& games.2015 will be fun

BC_Master_Haze3424d ago

Same here, I'm interested to see how DX12 will affect both consoles and PC. Although I don't own an Xbox One I kind of feel like 1080p isn't what they should be going for but instead 60fps, hopefully soon they'll be able to get both! :)

NuggetsOfGod3424d ago (Edited 3424d ago )

If both consoles could run games 900p 60fps I wouldn't complain much.

These consoles are not next-gen @ all.

900 or 1080 and still only 30fps?

Even planetside 2 is 800 players less than pc.

Yes pc is more powerful but planetside came out 2012 lol.

And thats the most "powerful" console u can get. Smh..

People waiting from 2005 to potentially 2021 for 60fps standard are waiting 16 years lol

Insane.. its 2015 for buddah sake.
1080 30fps is poor. Cant even max out my 60hz tv from 2010.

I like console games but 1440p 60fps is worth the extra money I spent to get it.
I feel up to date lol

nitus103424d ago

DX12 is a Microsoft suite of API's for Microsoft's operating system which is now based on "Windows NT". These libraries or API's as they are more popularly known will not work on the PS4 which runs an operating system called Orbis OS which is based on freeBSD which in turn uses the OpenGL graphics libraries.

The only way I could see DX12 impacting the PS4 is it may put greater emphasis of improving graphics libraries for the PS4.

BC_Master_Haze3423d ago

Should have clarified, console*. I know PS4 will not be impacted by DX11 :P I have a PS4 and after getting myself a gaming PC boxing day I see that there is very little that is next gen about the consoles. Not that their pricing isn't justified, I'm still very happy with my PS4.

Just Bought it Thank you after checking reviews alot people enjoyed it Worth Picking up for that Price.

Spenok28d ago

I already own the physical copy on PS4, and even bought it on Steam for my Steamdeck... but I went ahead and bought this as well. Because, why not?

Aussiesummer27d ago

If you just like wasting money sure.

Spenok26d ago

It's not wasting money, it's me supporting the developer, in hopes it helps them in the long run to continue making amazing games.

This one was certainly not a needed purchase. As for the Steam copy, I wanted to be able to take the game on the go, and it was on a good deal besides.

thesoftware73027d ago

Yeah, good price, saw this yesterday on SX as well
