More horror games is always welcomed , i cant wait to see alone in the dark , with current gen graphics , its gonna be awesome , i just hope they go back to the old setting . It was awesome on the ps1.

ArchangelMike3583d ago

Didn't they already reboot Alone in the Dark last gen? And wasn't it a flop? Why try to reboot it again? Just make a new IP already!!!

DarkOcelet3583d ago (Edited 3583d ago )

Alone in the dark could be really something with the current gen hardware , lets just wait and see , and honestly i am liking this sudden rise in the horror genre , outlast , the evil within , alien isolation , until dawn , resident evil remake remaster , dying light , alone in the dark , haunted house , silent hills . I swear this is just like the ps1 days , if only they announce dino crisis reboot ... oh and if they announce dead space 4 :) .

Alone in the Dark is similar to Resident Evil! I would rather see that game make a great comeback! I love horror so I am happy about this!

CorndogBurglar3582d ago

Yeah, wasn't the film Batman and Robin a flop? Why try to reboot it?

Oh yeah, because you could end up getting something successful like The Dark Knight Trilogy.

I know those are movies, but the same can be applied here.

Yui_Suzumiya3582d ago

Actually that Alone in the Dark was technically the 5th game, a sequel.

I dont know what these games are though.

Atari needs to get its head out of it's butt and reboot Pitfall into some kind of Unncharted/Tomb Raider game.

Hey Pitfall is after all the first game to offer gameplay in the same vain as the Movie Indiana Jones and Raiders of the lost ark.

and hey an updated River Raid but in 3D with Oculus Rift support would be nice.

uth113582d ago

Pitfall was Activison.

But yeah, there hasn't been a good Pitfall game since The Mayan Adventure

ATi_Elite3582d ago

U know what u are totally right and good thing no one read this article lol.

I have to stop mutli tasking as it is causing too many mistakes.

River Raid is Activision too. Activision/Atari same thing as the best games on Atari were made by Activision lol

(weak attempt to justify my obvious mind fart)

Sounds familiar. There were duplicates of this story days ago.

That popped up from the search, don't feel like digging around for more.

CorndogBurglar3582d ago

This probably has nothing to do with the hype that P.T./Silent Hills is getting....

I had an Atari Haunted House reboot on the Wii a few years ago. It wasn't much fun.

That genuinely, genuinely sucks. The reboot has clear flaws, but it really felt like a solid first step for this team to receive *greater* investment.

Alone in the dark is a fun game so that's unfortunate

CrimsonWing6948d ago

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that the norm after a project is done?

Terry_B48d ago

That's standard. Teams are together for a Project, after its done some..and sometimes most devs are fired until the next Project is in the works and people are needed again. Only the core members stay in the time between the hot phase of the game development.

CrimsonWing6948d ago

What’s annoying is people don’t understand how contractors work, either. All of this is uninformed knee-jerk reactions without any understanding of how employment works in this industry. There are key developers and staff that stay with a studio/publisher, but often times it’s a hire per project and then seeking new employment for a project. That’s how it’s always been…

coolbeans47d ago

That's a fair point too. I would say that in light of its tepid critical/commercial response and ongoing mass layoffs across the industry I think it's understandable for fans to worry about the longer-term implications. We'll see how it plays out in the future.

Alone in the Dark (XS) Review | VGChartz

VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "In one sense, it feels strange to even think Pieces Interactive had big shoes to fill with this series' legacy. Given what's come before, did it really? And yet, even when considering the last two flops over a two-decade span, there's still something about Alone in the Dark emblazoned on a title screen that carries a sense of revered history. In that respect, perhaps this reboot's best accomplishment is in honoring that spirit through its inventive world. It's also fair to emphasize knocks against its survival-horror design, some puzzle-solving, and so on; it certainly won't be considered a trendsetter like the 1992 classic. Still, the amount of goodwill wedded to its brighter qualities makes for something that dawdles the line between unfortunately-flawed and impressively-enticing."

Alone in the Dark review [SideQuesting]

The new Alone in the Dark remake doesn't do anything especially noteworthy, but that doesn't mean it's bad. It's just... cromulent.
