More Dragonball Scans

The same source who sent me the Weekly Young Jump scans has just recently sent me these exclusive new scans from the July 7th issue of Roadshow magazine says dbthemovie.com.

it possible. way back in the day b4 dbz was big in America, i was at the mall with my grrl at the time and saw this asian kat with this funky hair. he was rather small but stock, and i will never forget the way he spiked his hair. i remember saying to my grrl that he looked like some dude straight out of a japanimation. anyways, a few years later in college i got hooked on dbz and put 2 and 2 together to realize that kat was going for the goku look. i couldn't believe how well he pulled it off. i mean, he had the front and back end spikes perfect. so to wrap up, it definitely can be done, and the actor in those shots makes for a sorry goku look alike.

Goku looked like he was 8 in DB.(Bulma also made this mistake in the series). He was actually 13 then and he didn't go to f*cking school. I love DB/DBZ but they really should have made it CGI, like Advent Children.

Plus people automatically forget this is Dragonball ... NOT Dragonball Z. The story ranges from when he was a kid to being a teen. So they do at least have SOME things that stays true to the anime.

It will be a disaster, the problem with movies like Street fighter and this movie and even Dead or alive is that they do not use characters from the country of where the game was made i.e. Japan, western people look nothing like the game characters and there are soo many Chinese and Japanese people that could easily play the role and look the part.

Who wants to see a movie based on the original Dragonball seriously, Z was the best especially when it had super saiyans, imagine seeing a person power up that would be the best feeling in the world!!

No instead its a cheap poor attempt at making a Dragonball movie.

These are some very bad choices.

Firstly, all of the actors should be of oriental descent or it is very difficult to take the film seriously due to the inconsistencies.

Goku looks OK but would be better if he was Japanese.

Chi-Chi looks tragic. I do hope the directors realised she isn't supposed to look like a Japanese call-girl/Tila Tequila.

Bulma is OK although it's hard to take her seriously with that hair. The women in the show don't really translate well to live action characters.

I think Yamcha should be better looking and younger - perhaps similar to Goku like in the show.

Master Roshi should really be an old man, shouldn't he :S? He can't have black hair.

I like the anime, whatever the critics say. However, I strongly doubt this film will garner any critical acclaim whatsoever. Just my two cents.

why does everyone think that a sayian is suppose to be of Japanese descent. I remember reading somewhere that the creator of db/dbz said that the sayians were created to appear of European descent because there not from earth(meaning they chose no race/nationality in particular, they just wanted them to appear human without chinky eyes, those were the exact words that i read honest) and that's why goku is played by that kid instead of jet li or whatever other oriental actor thats out there. Another thing, people want this movie to be completely CGI, I think that would be stupid because there are tons of movies that integrate CGI well with live actors(spiderman, ironman, terminator, etc, etc) Just give this movie a chance, stop judging something you haven't seen yet.

The Movie is Dragon Ball, no Dragon Ball Z, i believe it's focus on the early days of Goku on earth. Don't expect vegeta, freezer, majinbu, cell, the droids, Super Sayayin L2, 3 and 4 (DBGT).

Why does everyone want Goku to be Japanese/asian? He's a freaking alien! so a white guy can play fine(pity the guy can't act), Bulma's hair was more of a fuchsia(in manga) or aqua/turquoise(in anime)....There will be no talking cat, Korrin was it?
I really hope the writing is good as that may be it's saving grace....They could have some fun with Master Roshi and his pervy side

Stephen Chow is the producer, while James Wong serves as the director and writer.
Some of his directing credits include The Final Destination series and The One starring Jet Li, so he's no stranger to martial arts films.

Now about how the characters look, it's been 8 years since the original X-men motion picture debuted, yet people still complain that these characters don't resemble the original comic book counterparts?

Gee, are they supossed to? Tell you what, go search on Youtube a little unknown movie called "DragonBall The Magic Begins", a small budget unofficial adaptation of the Dragon Ball manga, then tell me if these characters should look like the exact same characters from the comic.

Also, do keep in mind, none of the characters in the original comic book even have a proper nationality, since the world of Dragonball is apparentely some alternative version of ours, even Akira Toryama himself never defined their roots, so it makes the director's job easier.

A lot of people complain that they don't look like the characters from the comic.... and I got chills down my spine when I was thinking of a human that looks just like Goku in the beginning of the book. Actually, this movie seems to take place after the Tien Shinhan saga. So, at the time I think that Goku is already a bit older than when he was when Dragonball started.

It also goes through the King Demon Piccolo saga and ends with the birth of Piccolo Jr.

Oh, and Piccolo is played by a white dude too. Although I'm assuming that he'll be all green-ed and monstered up so that doesn't matter I guess.
