Don’t Forget, Today is Warhawk Day

Junkie Monkeys: At the beginning of the month, we shared a pretty cool idea started by a group of Warhawk’s finest. In an nutshell, this group has called for past and present Warhawk players/fans to hop on their PlayStation 3 and play Warhawk. This group hopes to send a message to Sony by showing that there is still interest in Warhawk and would like them to pursue a PlayStation 4 version. The campaign has gotten a lot of buzz over the week, hell, even Dylan Jobe & LightBox made a commemorative t-shirt for the cause!

If only they'd make a PS4 sequel.

I'd kill for Warhawk 2.

Treezy5043743d ago

The game is pretty active right now, haven't seen it like this in a while!

webeblazing3743d ago

Yea warhawk was rich in gameplay

Pintheshadows3743d ago

Considering the long term success of Warhawk and advancements in that type of game I would be very surprised if we didn't see one.

I am picturing it in my head. It is beautiful.

ABizzel13743d ago

Get online everybody, it's been busy servers all day.

Never heard of this game. What is so "special" about it?

Pintheshadows3743d ago

It is one of the best multiplayer experiences of all time. You'd need to play it to understand. Dedicated community, great gameplay, vehicles including the awesome Warhawk, and massive massive maps.

I'd go as far to say it is Sony's most important multiplayer game and IP.

Treezy5043743d ago

Back in the whole "PS3 has no games days" this was one of the shining underrated gems produced for the PlayStation 3. The game is extremely well balanced, addicting, and very rewarding. You should play it at least one time for the experience.

IG-883743d ago

It was one of the early good PS3 games. Game mode wise there was nothing really special about it but it was and is just a good and fun multiplayer game.

-EvoAnubis-3743d ago

What made Warhawk so special was its simplicity and variety. The game wasn't complicated, there was no special crafting systems or whatever that you had to learn, you could just pick it up and play it, taking whatever role you felt like you wanted to do and no matter what you chose, it would have an impact on the battle. If you wanted to just take a Jeep and drive it from base to base and take them over, that was okay. Maybe you felt that you wanted to claim one base and defend it against all who came? That was okay too. If you wanted to grab a Warhawk and and never set foot on the ground again, that was also perfectly okay. All of which you'd be rewarded for, high KDR or not. It had the perfect mix of easy to pick up and difficult to master that made it approachable to pretty much anyone.

TheOrder18863743d ago

Sounds great, I'm getting the game ASAP.

Omegasyde3743d ago

Ev0 - Great summary.

I loved Warhawk. The map sizes, maps, and vehicles were all balanced.

Starhawk was good but it "became" complicated with having to "build". I liked it, but not alot did.

I think the game would of been more popular is they that part out- and weakened the star hawks.

Halo/Call of duty is popular because it was simple to pick up. Call of duty expanded on that idea, and made it too easy to kill and use the carot on a stick reward system.

If Warhawk 2 adds an unlock system that didn't mess with the balance (say just attachments and costumes) - then it would be a hit.

MysticStrummer3743d ago

It's only one of the best multiplayer experiences of last generation. It's funny that today is Warhawk Day, because I didn't even know that but last night I reinstalled the game on a whim. Great game.

ABizzel13743d ago

It's basically a fun versions of Battlefield 4 multiplayer.

Tanks, Jets, Jeeps, Trunks, Cargo Carriers, Jet packs, and a huge array of crazy weapons.

One of the best multiplayer of last gen IMO.

The best multiplayer experience on the PS3!

WeAreLegion3743d ago

Just a reminder. It's like $2 for a decent used copy on Amazon. I bought a few for friends this week.

DJ3743d ago

Still one of my favorite games, even though it only had 8 maps.

Roundtable: Dead Game Franchises We Miss

With every big game now belonging to a big intellectual property, there are those that have become redundant. Here are the series' we miss.

RPGer1118d ago

I miss Dark Cloud I mean damn, Dark Cloud 2 is one of the best Action RPG game ever made. The game have: Rich Worlds, different setting, tons of contents, vareity in gameplay like never before (and even after), best buliding mechanics, crafting system like no one did and finally impressive graphics.

Most underrated game ever. It deserved the popularity and sales of Zelda and Final Fantasy. ut unfortunately, Level-5 and Sony didn't advertise it at all.

titans99991118d ago

My franchises I wish would make a come back, are Battlefront by pandemic studios - galactic conquest was the best, mercenaries 1 and 2, and prototype 1 and 2...great games!

Remembering Warhawk – one of the PS3’s first multiplayer must-haves

TSA writes: "For many PS3 owners and members of the TSA community, Warhawk was our first foray into the mesmerising world of online multiplayer. Now, after more than a decade of dogfights, the skies over Eucadia are clear, the game’s two warring factions having called an eternal ceasefire. To put it in less poetic terms, Sony finally pulled the plug on January 31st with the online servers no longer accessible."

I hope we do get a next-gen Warhawk, that would be awesome. Warhawk was so underrated for it's time.

SegaSaturn6691899d ago

This game...my god. What a masterpiece.

mkis0071899d ago

I really enjoyed warhawk on ps3. Hope it isn't dead because of Starhawks average reception.

Knushwood Butt1899d ago

Time just flew by when playing this, and I always had that, 'just one more game, then I quit for the day.' urge.

Spent entire days playing it. Not healthy, but endless fun.

PoSTedUP1899d ago

after a very long hard days work i would come home and drink a few coors light 24 ounces while playing this game on my vita through PSnow, for hours and hours. it made me happy. it is one of those experiences i will never forget.

Guess I can now plat all stars😁

porkChop2028d ago

A Warhawk remaster or remake would be nice, but we know Sony isn't going to bother.

MONOLITHICIDE2028d ago

I only diagree because please dont say that. We have had zero games like this so far. No MAG, SOCOM, TWISTED METAL etc...

TheSaint2028d ago

I'd kill or die for a MAG 2 on PS4.

Babadook72028d ago

Yup. Remaster or better yet. A remake.

FunAndGun2028d ago

Please, for the love of all things gaming, make a Warhawk remaster. I logged on for Warhawk day last year, and promptly got destroyed by ground and air. Some hardcore players still playing today. Warhawk is my favorite MP game ever made, hands down!

Sevir2028d ago

Honestly, Warhawk and the original Resistance was pure multiplayer bliss on PS3 in it's first few years on the market. If they did a ground up remake of Warhawk for PS4 I'd be so happy. In similar to how they did Wipeout Omega collection on PS4

Concertoine2028d ago

I miss the simplicity of early 7th gen shooters.
