R-Type is a side scrolling shoot-em-up arcade game produced by Irem in 1987. It spawned a long series of sequels and spinoffs for Nintendo systems that are still being released today.
In this interview, the small team of developers for the original title discuss the issues they encountered while making the game. They also drop a few pieces of interesting trivia. Here are some examples:
• The look of ship with its attached Force power up got its inspiration from dung beetles
• The programmers were very aware of the existence of another space shooter, Konami's Gradius
• Developers worked hard to come up with outlandish and interesting designs for weapons
• The "R" in R-Type stands for ray, because there are many types of ray weapons in the game

This looks terrible. Capcom should have done the remake 😂 The animations and gameplay looks stiff.
Okay. I was saying before in another article how SH2 looked better than the last trailer, which is true but damn this looks rough as hell.
I wanted RE4 / Dead Space remake quality

Hanzala from eXputer: "Contra: Operation Galuga is a classic revival done right, but why hasn't Konami done the same yet for the bigger and more popular Castlevania?"
Slowdown. Let them get these suikoden games done first. Alot of us are still waiting for those
well, the new C ontra was made by Wayforward, who have been taking sooooo many of these classic franchises and making new iterations of them. Imo they aren't very good at it. And I don't see operation galuga being a large enough success to possibly give them Castlevania.
for a reboot of r-type. Final was good but i couldnt help think there was more to give than what we got over the course of the series.
I do have to say though, r-type dimensions is actually a trip to play in the psudo isometric pov.
I want a new r-type as much as i want a new gradius and thunderforce.....bring back the shmups.
i would give anything to play a NEW R-TYPE,GRADIUS,SILPHEED,DARIUS TWINS in HD on ps3 not a damn DLC on psn but a real physical disc game.
