i would probably put ninja gaiden higher up on that list. gaiden should be top 10 at least alan wake since we havnt seen much can remain where its at till we see more. Pretty good list though. Left for dead isnt really on my list for games i really want to play. The game just seems to me something that belongs in the arcades but we'll see

I personally prefer Left 4 Dead over Ninja Gaiden and Alan Wake. I'm sure that isn't a popular opinion, but I've never been a Ninja Gaiden fan, and the Alan Wake static meshes (and character models) don't appeal to me. Some meshes look decent, others look horrible. When you go for realism and miss the target it ends up being kind of awkward. Left 4 Dead though looks insanely fun. Again, that's my personal opinion.

Lists like these should only be posted when the full list is online, that by no means is a rule, but I'm still tired of those lists where one entry was posted every day.

Don't understand what's so great about Gaiden. Got Sigma accidentally and can't say I enjoyed it much (after the first lame level, boss fight and amateur cut scene I kind of gave up). The art direction is so incredibly bad (like everything else created by Team Ninja it looks cheap and trashy), it completely puts me off. And the rest of the presentation is terrible as well, though that's probably partly because of the age of the original, though even the first Devil May Cry did it much better. Guess that after playing God of War, it's kind of hard to go back to games so unsophisticated in their story telling.

The fact that Ghostbusters and Mercenaries 2 are in this list's top-20 doesn't give it much credibility. There's just one game that counts for 2008 and that's LBP. The rest are just stale HD upgrades of antiquated game genres.

I think the lowest that game has been on all the other lists was like 5th.

mintaro5980d ago

heh, wasnt expecting ghostbusters to be on the list

HCS5980d ago

I WONDER WHAT THEIR TOP TEN IS.

It sooo stands out, and easily top 5 on any real list. The whole 07' gdc (game developers) feel like me. Trust that.

Why Indie Games Fail To Keep Their Place In The Spotlight

A look into the sad trajectory of indie games from high successful releases to complete irrelevancy in just a few weeks or months.

Easy not enough developpers to add content to the game (palworld)

That's the thing with gaming there's always new experiences to have why spend months or years playing a single game when there's a new experience right around the corner.

Indie or AAA if your building your game expecting long term player counts you'll probably be disappointed as gamers often enjoy something for a few weeks and move on only to return if it's truely a classic.

Out of all the generations I've experienced there's games from 30 plus years ago I still dust off and play like super Mario bros, earthbound, vice city and san Andreas being games I treasure and revisit every few years but I'm not going back to play a game designed to keep me engaged for months on end because it's also designed to milk my wallet in most cases.

Build a great game that people love make it playable offline and ask does it matter if the concurrent player count is under 100 a year post launch more often that not it doesn't

The price of entry is too high to take chances like I used to. Was looking at V Rising and that ranges from $50-$130 CAD. That’s a lot for an indie imo. By the time it goes on sale, the player count might be dwindling. But that’s the trade-off, I guess.

I’m glad my preference is single player experiences, Indie devs got me covered 👊🏻
