Battlefield franchise inching closer to Call of Duty; BF3 sells 15 million copies

Battlefield 3 has sold over 15 million copies, it's been revealed. Up by 5 million from the 10+ million figure revealed in EA's fiscal Q3 2012 results, the shooter has been sticking up to the giant that is Call of Duty mighty well then indeed.

I keep telling people, all the money COD has made, if a company makes the right FPS game it could cut right in to the market share of COD. There is money to be made. Everyone can eat.

And I don't consider it sticking up to Call of Duty since once again CoD proves to be the more dominate series hands down and the industry standard for twitch first person shooters.

Battlefield 3 has SOLD 15 million, not just shipped... and it makes alot of since seeing that this game is leaps and bounds better than CoD, people are starting to realize it... Congrats DICE, cant wait for premium and the new content..

All numbers are shipped. Think for one minute (hard for some I get it ) but do it anyway and you might just realise that you don't just shipped 15 million copies then wait for them to be sold. You sell them to distributors meaning SHIPPED=SOLD.

The whole ''the numbers are just shipped'' was always some lame fan boy thing. No company release sales data from stores. Just the numbers they've sold to distributors as that is where they get money from.

The only reason they'r shipping is because they're still selling. It's more easy to draw up a shipped number than sell-through numbers, but you can bet that the sold-through number is probably very close to the 15 million. And as for your comment about cod being the "more dominate series" (it's dominant, not dominate...just fyi), that's completely subjective.

Good that battlefield is doing well and it's even better COD is still selling better.. the annoying little smacktalking singing kiddies need an fps to play after all! Not to say Battlefield 3 doesn't have it's fair share but thanks to cod, us mature gamers can have a better experience elsewhere.

I got Battlefield 3 a few days ago. Graphically,mother game is amazing really surprised how goods it looks on console. I am a single player kind of guy and don't play multiplayer that much so in terms of the campaign, I am find it rather boring.

Modern Warfare 3 has a much better story and the campaign is soo much better. In Battlefield 3, I have been in situation were I have used my sniper rifle on the enemy, shot them several times and they did not die. I was like WTF...it has happened like 3-4 times so far.

Maybe by the time, multiplayer is factored in, Battlefield 3 might be the better game but from a campaign perspective, I am not impressed.

Anyway, congratulations on the massive success of the franchise.

when fanboys debate COD vs BF, they are talking multiplayer.

Battlefield was never supposed to have campaign, they only AD it to cater to what COD kids want, which equals money to greedy EA, DICE are just innocent talented slaves to mega corp electronic arts.

Battlefield is leaps and bounds ahead of COD online though Cod takes the cake with campaign, that's a fact and or my opinion is right, you choose.

Thanks for the response. Hopefully once I am done I might give the multiplayer a chance. Though I won't have anything COD game to compare it with because I have never played any COD multiplayer before.

I loved BF3 but now I never play since they went to user rented servers but I'm not a huge fan of military FPS games anyways.

They still have the dice servers you can play on

I know but for a while they were hard to get into, that and my DLC can't re-download without freezing my PS3...the whole game just seems like a hassle to play now.

If you go to the playstation store and go to your download section, find the close quarters adding and download, you shouldn't have problems. Don't download from the ingame store. My Ps3 froze and I did it this way and it worked.
