Hey there this is my first review, so I'll keep it short. Chrono trigger originally came out 1994 or something for the snes, but it trully stands the test of time. I'm not going to reveal much of the story. At the beginning of the game you go to a fair cellabrating 1000 years of peace. You meet this girl there, she joins you and then you meet your really smart friend to check out her teleporting invention, you try it, it works, but when the girl you meet tries the michine, it malfunctions and a portal opens and pulls her in and then she dissapears. Being the hero that you are, you follow after her and get sent back 400 years in the past, and your adventure begins. Thats all I'm goin to say but the story is really good, one of the best i've seen.
If you played another Square Enix game than you probably know how the gameplay is like. Unlike other RPGs battles are not random and don't take place on a seperate screen. The game uses an active real time turn based battle system. Instead of selecting commands for you party members and then hitting the go button and see what happens, each of your characters (you can have three in your party at a time) have a gage that once full alows you to select a command. When you are selecting your command the battle is still moving, enimies are attacking, your parties gauges are being filled, but you can change the settings so that the battle pauses when you select an attack and what speed it is. You can use a normal attack or use techs ( wich are like spells) wich can be single double(uses tow characters) or devistating triple techs that uses all the characters. You can equip weapons and armor with various stat enhancing capabilities, such as increased magic, defense against fire ex. There is also diferent weapon types, there are crossbows, guns, swords, arms ex.
I forgot to say that the story spans from 65,000,000,000 BC. to 23,000 AD.
Chrono Trigger is a quality game, the graphics aren't updated from the original virson but graphics isn't what makes a good game, its the story and gameplay and Chrono Trigger has the best of both. Chrono trigger is a must have for any RPG fan and even if you aren't you should still pick this one up.
It's long been thought that a Chrono Trigger remake is impossible, but the Super Mario RPG remake could pave the way.
It's already been said that they weren't motivated to do anything with the series unless the gang was back together, not really for any legal reasons.

Nobody wants NFT's in the gaming world...but they do want Einhander.
That is a very small list and I'm sure Square-Enix has more games than that under it's belt that could use a re-release (no FF Tactics or Valkyrie Profile? Front Mission? Parasite Eve? Secret of Evermore? Brave Fencer Musashi?). This could have been a much better list as Square-Enix owns lots of great old games that they haven't touched or made use of in recent years.
I agree Chrono Trigger DS is far and away the best version of this classic title. I couldn't express the joy of having all the commands on the bottom screen for easy access and leaving the main screen uncluttered. Bet if it was for psp this would have been approved by now... good review tho.
