I had a great time on MW2, but since the abysmal failure that was Blackops :/ I have opted to get my FPS kicks from DICE this year.
After all I will be eternally grateful to them for giving me Mirrors Edge.

If MW3 turns out good I will buy and play it, after all it was fun (on MW2) just to show teh kidz how you play an FPS and I always had fun showing off to my friends how I could own like 85% of the COD population every time, LOLZ.

(I am aware that cod gives you the impression that you are better than you actually are, didn't notice? well watch newbies play cod for a while and you will notice a change in their ego)

These things won't stop me enjoying a good cod session, but my interest diminishes quickly these days, and I find myself wanting a little more depth from my online experiences.

When you find a piece of information, the intel is only as good as the source that provides it and using youtube like/dislike data as a way of gauging the popularity of a game is not exactly credible.

People are comparing trailers that are apples and oranges. Battlefield 3 trailers have all been super high end PC footage, while all the MW3 trailers have been Xbox 360 footage. Why compare?

People keep complaining about COD looking the same, but if they changed how it looked or played then millions and millions would be complaining instead of just a few insecure thousand.

I keep hearing "Battlefield 3 will be the better game". My question is, better game for whom?

I prefer the COD style games, when I play a FPS the first thing I check is if it has COD style controls. I know I'm not alone in this. I'll stop playing a FPS pretty quick if the controls aren't accessible.

As for "better game", that is simply opinion. If you want facts to back up which is the better game, you have to go by sales or Metacritic scores. Both of those things are dominated by Call Of Duty. Do a little research to check it out. Modern Warfare 2 sold better and scored better then Bad Company 2.

Each COD game has scored and sold better then the Battlefield counterpart.

I've done this a dozen times already, but I'll step up and defend CoD since no one else will.
CoD is good. CoD is a great game. I'm more than happy paying $60 for the game on release day and buying all DLC map packs. Know why? Because it's fun. Don't start the "Battlefield is better" bullshit. They are different games. Battlefield is a very team oriented strategic game. The CoD series is, at it's core, an arcade shooter. I mean, it has you running around constantly popping in and out of sights with "+100"'s popping up on your screen. What about that doesn't scream arcade shooter?
As for the game not innovating, that's horse shit as well. You can't do much in an FPS's gameplay while keeping it the same game. Now that they have put out four massively successful CoD games, they pretty much have the gameplay part down. Now it's all about adding new/tweaking the infrastructure. Things like the create a class, the challenges, the way you rank up, the weapons and attachments you have access to, the perks and how they work together, etc etc. To an "outsider" you may think Black Ops and MW3 look nearly identical but in different times, but you are dead wrong.
Now that I know what I know from the CoD XP event today, I can say in good conscious that MW3 and Black Ops are totally different, even in the gameplay itself. Like the transition to a "point streak" system, including a streak list that doesn't reset when you die, and allowing you to "level up" your guns, you've got fundamental differences in the way they play.
Black Ops was very gun on gun focused. The killstreaks were, in comparison to other CoD games, underpowered. In MW3, they are putting a focus back on killstreaks, but making them more accessable, and at the same time making them less of a focus than in MW2, striking the balance between too pervasive and not pervasive enough. Considering that, people will play MW3 much much differently than they played Black Ops. With the only useful killstreaks in Black Ops being the 11 killstreaks (Dogs, mainly), people would camp much more often for their streaks. Since you get points for capping objectives, assists, and kills in MW3, that should cut down on camping. Not to mention giving more casual players access to a list of killstreaks that, while not being particularly lethal (they are made to support the rest of the team), don't reset with each death, will all but eliminate camping in your average Domination game.
I know I just dropped a load of text here, but this is something I'm constantly bothered by: people needlessly hating on CoD because they don't play it and to an outsider it looks the same every year.
