Helldivers 2 Dev Responds Negatively to Railgun Nerf Complaints , CEO Apologizes for Behavior

After players complained about the recent Railgun nerf, a Helldivers 2 dev took to Reddit to call it a "skill issue," and it didn't go well.

Oh my jeez, don't need to take the time to teach the team anything lmao, I think it's hilarious the guy said it's a skill issue.. Don't apologize either... Let the dev speak his mind and opinion as well.

Yeah the community lost their shit behind the nerfs, I mean they went rabid it was embarrassing

The reward for a successful game is ALWAYS a large contingent of the fan base behaving like entitled children. It's sad.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH80d ago (Edited 80d ago )

So people can say whatever they want to these devs and they can’t say anything back? It’s their game and if they want to make changes the players are just gunna have to deal with it. I’m a Destiny player so I’ve been dealing with nerfs for 10 years now so what’s the big deal? It’s definitely a skill issue if you can’t kill the chargers or bile titans with other weapons. Bunch of cry babies…

Sephiroushin80d ago (Edited 80d ago )

who says they cant?
they can but like with everything, there are consequences, they cant cry when they're told something back or if sales drop drastically (which probably wont happen) or if people start boycotting its on them, or if their next game never gets support ... calling some of their playerbase brain dead for a play style is stupid, as stupid as them since they never tested the game, as soon as i touched the flamethrower I knew it was the most junk the game had to offfer and that the shotgun was more powerful than others primary therefore in need of some kind of nerf, either that or others a buff, how they couldn't see this is beyond me, or theyre braindead as well and they used same primary weapon as many from their community to not see the problem ...

but as to why they should not completely speak their mind its because being professional, we engineers go through this every single day where we want to completely speak our minds but cant without being professional, doctors with their patients, secretaries, people on restaurant and store doing customer service and so on...
you do your job and stay professional and let people rage if they want, especially in their case that they do have a PR department... now people see it as the sales went over his head and that he went with stupid mode on, got thrown even more shit back and like a p*** went back to a cave crying ... smh

If a dev talks shit to their player base and the players clap back or stop supporting the game, they can't cry foul later. Talk shit all you want, so long as you're prepared for the consequences.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH79d ago

Then so be it. Anyone who won’t support the game because a dev defended himself isn’t really a supporter of the dev or game anyway. It’s not like the dev insulted people or was talking about their mom. People are just to entitled and think they can say whatever they want with no response in return.

While I do understand you shouldn’t respond to everyone on the internet couldn’t that same logic be applied to everyone one the internet and not just devs? Personally I love when a dev claps back because it shows me that the devs stand behind their product and more importantly it shows that the devs stand behind their words.

@SPEAKxThexTruth

Like I said, Devs are within thier rights to say whatever they want. They should remember that when responding back, they need to show tact. They aren't just a random replying to another random. They are a developer, who works for a corporation, talking shit to their customer base and consumers.

They should be more careful in their responses. I don't think it benefits anyone for a developer to respond to individual people. It just ups the chances they will say something to upset the entire playerbase (their consumers) and not just the person they're trying to respond to.

You could win your twitter battle but lose the war(alienating your consumer base). Devs should take the criticism they receive and work on improving the game through consumer feedback. There is never a need to fire back at individual gamers. It's unprofessional.

Kaii80d ago (Edited 80d ago )

My issue wasn't with him but with the community defending the nerf tbh
How the fudgeballs do you deal with multiple chargers and bile titans, when the response was "skill issue" my response was please show me your gameplay past difficulty 7.

(Meta) It's annoying and I truly dgaf what people are rocking with.

Magatsuhi80d ago (Edited 80d ago )

Getting 1 shotted by spitters isn't a skill issue, it's a balance issue. The nerf update was stupid plain n simple.

No one deserves to deal with hate for doing their job... so fuck those people for being hateful. At the same time I think AH, or any developer tbh, owes it to thier playerbase that has done nothing wrong but played and supporyed the game given to them to implement any good idea they get no matter how it was delivered.

Very loud minority is complaining. I see people using one in every round i play and they kick ass, have to remember there are tons of kids that play this game, and they complain about every single little tiny bad thing even if there are 10 pros and 1 con. Also, this is definitely not accurate. I’ve literally seen these mechs destroy chargers and titans, in the gate defense missions with this mech it literally makes it infinitely easier to hold the gates.

What a crock of shit, whoever wrote this just sucks at the game, they’re embellishing everything for some reason. Maybe they have a chip on their shoulder against the developers. Stop playing the game if all it does is make you angry, those of use that love the game will continue to appreciate their constant updates and toys to play with.

Matter of fact this post just made me want to play around, see you on the battlefield.

Are the number of shots required to kill the enemies outlined in the article incorrect?

I haven't tested it myself but this is a snippet from the article.

"Kills Bile Titans to the head in around 40-45 shots (Way more than the autocannon sentry for some stupid reason)
Kills Chargers to the head in 10 shots
Kills Chargers to the leg in 8 shots
Kills Bile Spewers in 4 shots
Kills Brood Commanders in 2-4 shots to the head"

Some support weapons can one-shot those enemies and I believe the argument is that the mech should be more powerful than it appears.

I personally think it is about using the right weapon for each faction. This new mech is more effective against the automatons while the first mech is stronger against the terminids.

The new mech is really good against bugs

So yes I think this was basically revealed yesterday. So apparently (and mind you HD lore is really quite dark) they have Illuminate blood stored from the first war that will be used as a super weapon to destroy an entire planet. The bug blood, BTW, is also used by Super Earth to power FTL travel.

Can't wait to experience the last stand of the super bug colony. And then face the Illuminate.
