My Problems With VR

Jason says, "Okay, I’ve dabbled in VR over the years, and interactive realism is starting to get VERY good. But this has actually led to more problems for me as I continue my journey to reviewing the PSVR2… Wait, am I ranting about VR?!"

Examples used are Resident Evil Village and Horizon Call of the Mountain.

Interesting, I never thought about that. Curious, anyone on here experience the same issues?

S2Killinit432d ago (Edited 432d ago )

Essentially, His muscle memory from real guns kicks in and he has to adjust to the dimensions of the headset getting in the way. Interesting.

I was thinking that for the majority of people, VR gunplay will actually gain them real combat experience.

The earth will be much more ready for any alien invasion if everyone plays Pavlov than flat fps like cod.

Lol

They do have VR at the gun range I go to Some of the sessions if not all are for police training I believe.

It is more for situational awareness and not actual precision of shooting .

jznrpg432d ago

It is a little awkward at first but it didn’t take me long to get the hang of it . That’s what the tutorial is for .
My wife would drop her knife a lot (it goes right back to your sheath) at first and had trouble reloading but she isn’t a gamer or wasn’t before besides playing Castlevania on handheld . It took her a little while to get used to .
She also goes to the real gun range and hasn’t mentioned anything conflicting but I’ll ask her next time she plays RE8 .

Stanjara432d ago

Why VR2 has that twitching again... isn't that improved? Looks terrible...
I'm still not sold on it...

S2Killinit432d ago

Thats because you are watching the head movement of someone else. In VR any twitching is your own, like in real life.

Stanjara432d ago

You're kidding me... We do not twitch in real life.

Your hands are also twitching... Every sensor is twitching.

That's good???

S2Killinit432d ago (Edited 432d ago )

Edit: ohh having watched the video a third time, NOW I see what you are talking about. First, in RE the gun mechanics are superb, they are a revelation, that is how awesome it is to cock you own sniper rifle instead of clicking a button. As to the gun twitching that is his natural hands shaking, as to the cocking of the sniper, he is showing you a scene where the cocking is not being done smoothly by him, it does NOT always look like that. But as great as it is to cock your own guns, it is NOT perfect. If that is a deal breaker for you or something then VR is not ready for you. Believe it or not cocking a gun in VR is easier than real life because its semi assisted.

Hope that helps.

EvertonFC432d ago

Actually a fascinating watch, glad I don't have any real weapon experience 😂🤣

jznrpg432d ago (Edited 432d ago )

I go the the gun range every week . I don’t have an issue with gaming and actual shooting interfering with each other at all.
The weight and feel of a real handgun or rifle vs a PSVR2 controller or even the gun stocks I had for PSVR1 are so different . I don’t see how I could get them confused really.

I don’t play a lot of shooter games but I do play them .

masterfox432d ago

and who cares about your problems I have my own personal problems in life :D

S2Killinit432d ago (Edited 432d ago )

Hahaha first world problems.

Sorry but PSVR2 is dead and double dead at any sale price. It was dead before it launched as the "premium" VR scene lost all the AAA developers and now it is all indie mobile phone crap quality software.

State of Play | May 30, 2024

State of Play is back! Tune in live for updates on PS5 and PS VR2 titles, plus a look at PlayStation Studios games arriving later this year.

darthv721d 3h ago (Edited 1d 3h ago )

Im getting a bit of GotG vibes from Concord.

Ragnarok coming September 2024... that's just shy of 2 years since the PS5 release in November 2022.

-Foxtrot1d 3h ago (Edited 1d 3h ago )

I thought exactly the same. If they made it more like the GotG game and it wasn't online focused I'd have been sold instantly.

BISHOP-BRASIL1d ago (Edited 23h ago)

Yup, I was hyped up by the cinematic trailer and immediately put off the moment the gameplay trailer started, that was very high quality and great concept cinematic just for another Overwatch wannabe... Here's hoping they succeed so eventually someday they make an actual campaign focused entry for the franchise, but I'm not holding my breath and I'm definitely not falling for always online crap and FOMO just to follow drip fed cinematic "content".

EDIT: I'm still watching it as I comment... OMG they have another hero shooter, Marvel Rivals, seriously, they missed 2020 or something? For those not into online only and VR games, gotta say, poor show so far...

Profchaos1d 2h ago

Gotg would of been a hit if it released before Avengers was my goty a few years back so I'm intrigued here

RaidenBlack1d 2h ago (Edited 1d 2h ago )

GotG is very underrated and had the unfortunate luck of releasing just after Avengers.
Its really good and more people should play it.

Lightning7723h ago

Concord didn't do anything for me personally just another Overwatch mash up with other fps stuff. I mostly popped for Dynasty Warriors for next year. That was my biggest reveal I was genuinely excited for.

No Ghost 2. It's very clear Sony will wait later to Announce the Big Aaa's they don't wanna announce stuff too early and rather announce it closer to release.

darthv721d 2h ago

Maybe its just me but Astrobot looked more R&C inspired than ever.

P_Bomb1d 2h ago

Astro won the show. Looks epic! Huge bosses too like from the PSVR game.

shinoff21831d 2h ago

Astro bot and silent hill 2 remake are what I'm liking out of this.

RaidenBlack1d 2h ago (Edited 1d 2h ago )

Most games appeared good.
Where Winds Meet and Monster Hunter seemed like those needed a bit more polish but that's ok as those aren't releasing anytime soon but I am still kinda worried regarding SH2Remake. Still looks rough and from rear view, James Sunderland looks nearly identical to Leon Kennedy's model from RE4Remake. Hope I am wrong though.
Other games were decent. Even Marvel Rivals.
Ballad of Antara was the highlight for me, followed by Infinity Nikki(purely on the art style alone).
And glad that, Path of Exile 2 is coming to PS5 and Ragnarok is coming to PC!
Behemoth for VR2 also looked really interesting.

PapaBop1d 2h ago

You actually liked Infinity Nikki art style?

PSPSA18h ago

Was my favorite looking game of the show, art style looks amazing

RaidenBlack15h ago

Its not my type of game ...but the design and art style is really well thought out

Lightning7723h ago(Edited 23h ago)

Marvel Rivals had a PC invite alpha test a few weeks back and they love the hell out it saying it's an Overwatch killer. I'm definitely down to play and play as my favorite.

STORM. ❄️💨🌊⚡

There's a closed beta in July on consoles but I doubt I'll be able to get in.

InUrFoxHole20h ago

In overwatch 's defense didn't it kill itself?

Michiel198916h ago

they also gave out beta keys where you had to sign an nda not to say anything negative about the game, otherwise you could not play. Don't support stuff like that :) surprised they even showed it here cause it looks terrible and it will fail faster than Artifact
