For the record I want to say that HOME is going to be good. It is not a game it is a community and it will soar in that respect. I have been in the 1.0 for only like 2 days and 1.0 has less to offer than the last beta version. That being said I have met alot of people who share my intrests in just 2 days my friends list has doubled. I am logging in just to see whats going on.

I must say this product is many times better than what was originally available. I think SONY is slowly working out the final quirks and seeing if it can successfully handle large amounts of people using it. The HOME 1.0 many of you have seen is nothing near what was available a week ago. Game rooms will be available that will be bonuses like Uncharted and others. The shopping area will have personalized stores with products from brands like Nike and they will have a speaker area where you will be able to watch live feeds from shows like E3... Not to mention the club room is a major step for those of us who have clans... I see a lot of potential here and I think the finished product will be something fun for everyone...

All I've heard is positives from the newest version of home. even from people that hated it before. Makes me think this is just flambait, but I don't have HOME so I can't say for sure.

my beta invite came friday. there isn't much to do beyond customizing your character, but the environments are great and the potential is there.

i said in another post that i'm excited to have friends and relatives in my "apartment" voice chatting with our characters and launching a game, but I'm the only one I know that's in the beta.

my one beef is that every time i go in the damn bowling alley, there isn't a free lane or open pool table. come on...can't you increase the size of the bowling alley or something?

As Meus Renaissance said, most of the negative things that can be said about Home at this point are due to it's status as a beta. More than likely the bowling alley will increase in size, or else there will be more than one in the final version. The mall will actually have merchandise, and that music player people dance around will have more than 3 songs on it.

I'm just glad to get a sneak peek of Home.

Are shortsighted. They have no idea what this "SERVICE" is all about. I have HOME 1.0 and its awesome. Right now there is a lack of content but its to be expected. (cough) Beta (cough). The idea of HOME is a way to SOCIALIZE with gamers and meet NEW people. ANyone who thinks its more then this has been completely ignorant to what the idea was from the start.

Expect to see More and More,(Non-Social) reasons, for you to sign into HOME as time progresses. Theres already a thriving community and alot of people are hanging out enjoying the social aspect of gaming.

You see, places like Second Life and Lively are being less popular because people have the option to use it.
Home on the other hand is customary and will be used by many publishers, so indeed, I believe home will work brilliantly because people will always be on it because of the established consumer base of the PS3. Everyone won't suddenly abandon it, because if theres something exciting about Sony and the PS3 its updates, seeing whats new and since Home will grow over its existance, there hopefully will always be something new.

If this article came from IGN or Gamespot then maybe the article would hold some weight, but this is just an "opinion" from some random site.... as a matter of fact, I don't think that ANYTHING from goodfellajay has even been approved here on N4G before until now.

If anyone wants to talk about Epic failure, lets talk about the RROD and Microsoft failing to deliver a reliable product from the start.

HOME is a Free service and will add more to the Playstation community.

Ubisoft broadcasted their event Ubi-days in the HOME Beta earlier this year and the possibilities that can bring really are amazing. Just imagine being able to watch E3 or TGS LIVE from HOME.

Yeah Home can't compare to the gay rip off that comprises XNE. They can't even make your icon match you XNE avatar. And what does it really do at all? Is it a social gaming program? Nyet.

Meanwhile Home is everything such an interface should be. It isn't perfect but it does something the 360 can't - evolve. XNE isn't evolution, it's a sad attempt at a Wii clone. Every time I hear that stupid sound I think it's a Wii.

i finally got to try Home and it was pretty neat, i liked the user-friendliness of it. but there was pretty much nothing to do so far, i can imagine it will get better though with more content, of course.

what i did do on Home though, decided to go for a little social experimenting... so i created a female character with a hot body and sexy clothes, but with a face as ugly as i could make it lol (lots of wrinkles, abnormally sized facial features, horrible colored make up etc etc)... you can imagine what happened, flocks of guys on Home kept following me but when they got close, they turned away :D a few even said "wow you're ugly". had some great laughs hah, hope my experiment wasnt too immoral (childish for sure tho, lol).

To those that will use it...kudos to you. This isnt really for me. It just seems strange to walk around a virtual world looking for my friends to simply play a game. I can do that from the xmb. I just dont understand the gimick of what home is. Social networking...? It is the sims or worse...star wars galaxies. With all the dance news recently from home, how long till there is a dancing wookie in home?

From what I can tell, the only real fun thing is the bowling alley but there will be arcade games in home. I say, why cant those things be made available outside of home? Why cant there be that same bowling game available on the ps store? I shouldnt need home to be social and like I said, walking around isnt really that fun unless I am on some kind of epic quest. Searching for the bowling alley or drake's game space aint it.

I've had Home since April 2007 and I can tell you that it is an epic failure. It seems every update brings the service 10 yards back. For a short time we could have custom photos in the picture frames, that's gone now. There was never the ability to stream your content on virtual TVs simply being there were never any virtual TVs. I don't know why everyone is expecting custom music within your Home space, this was never tested or even discussed. Microsoft has a patent on the in-game music, I doubt we'll be able to use it. The music that Sony gives us to listen to is the one we're allowed. The only way for this to happen is for Sony to launch a music store within the current PlayStation Store. Game, Video, and Music tabs in the PlayStation Store. But back onto the matter at hand, yes at the current time I'm not ashamed to say that Home is an epic failure. Sony has disappointed me way too much with the course of the PlayStation 3. The lose of key exclusives, keep in mind Sony had a chance to make Grand Theft Auto IV exclusive, and keep making first person shooters. I'm sick and tired of Resistance and the rest of these first person shooters. The only one I'm looking forward to is Killzone 2. Sony you really need to get your crap together or it's going to be a long 10 years. By the way, Home is an epic failure.

I'm using Home, they got me in the beta. It's empty for now, i think they're trying servrs and so for the final release, but the arcade zone, the bowling, checkers and chess, the theatre... are great, and you play for free to all. It has lot of potential. And i don't think you can compare Home with the NXE. First of all cause they're completely different (maybe you oculd compare NXE and XMB, if you want...). And second, these stupid articles like "epic failure" (and it's not even out yet) make me laugh. Let it go out and check the reactions, AFTER you can say if it's a failure or not. But form what i see, for me, it's not. I prefer using my "avatar" around, meet ppl and so than a copy of the Miis with lot of cards to switch...

i had a great time the other day chatting games with people without the constant interruption of obnoxious fanboys.

i just don't know what people think Home is. it's NOT a game, so i don't see how it can be graded as a game.

as an online, social community, i think it succeeds, and i think it will get better as that community grows.

it's something that Playstation fans can really call their own, and it's rather unique in general. it just takes the chat room concept into the 3D realm.

considering that Home is free, i also don't know why we are judging it's success. we haven't paid a DIME for Home, so in my book, i don't see why i should b*tch and moan about it. it's an experiment from Sony, and so far, it's doing rather well.

people ARE socializing, which is kind of the point. all those other little odds and ends like the arcade games and trailers, flesh out the package, but the "gamers socializing" aspect of it works rather well.

now if only more people would get keyboards, and or headsets, it would be even smoother.

I finally got into the Home beta and so far I like what I see. The main download was only 77MB which is nothing. Each area you go to needs a download at first but they aren't very big either.

One of my biggest problems with watching videos on PSN is having to wait so much. I was able to walk around Home and see videos running around me. I see a lot of potential with Home. The idiot that said it's an epic fail must think you have to pay for Home or something.

I get it, the author got into the Home BETA and couldn't get new items, see various trailers, etc...but epic fail? Is this person completely out of their mind? Not because I'm championing Sony (I own all 3 next gen systems) But judging a BETA, as in testing mode and not the full verion, is just ignorant. Ha What is that revenge of the PS3 fanboy because of the PS3 2.4 update. I have not heard of a friend hereing of a friend or strange that got RROD from the update. The update does not crash you, in fact it makes it much faster. Even my streaming is MUCH faster to start up. Instant so far. So I think not. Just a jealous fantoy trying to break up the NXE party.
