Xbox has shown a willingness to learn from its mistakes and grow.
Following a recent interview with Sony, Naughty Dog head Neil Druckmann claims the original intent was “unfortunately lost” in the process.
Glad he clarified it but i'm still somewhat skeptical. Plus, his comments about how Ai will revolutionize storytelling were still pretty iffy.
Druckmann claims the tech could 'push the boundaries of storytelling in games.'
I’m more interested in what else he said.
“Neil Druckmann says new Naughty Dog title could ‘redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming’
He also said it has "ethical issues we need to address" but of course that doesn't get the clicks.
I’m all for it. Cuts the time to make a game. Look, Hellblade 2 took 5 years to make, if AI can do that in half the time, as a consumer, I support it.
CD Projekt RED and Yigsoft have launched The Witcher 3 REDkit on PC. We interviewed both studios to discuss the release of these mod tools.
Of course!
It took 3 years to Spencer got his promotion and finally with more power, importance and influence, steer the ship on the right direction. Since 2017 all we got from Xbox are exciting news. From new services like Gamepass to new studios acquisitions, innovations like adaptive controls and K&M support making Xbox more inclusive, more and better japanese dev support, new IP´s and new AAA games in development and a renewed focus in single player games (which Spencer learned from Sony it´s importance to gamers)
In a few months we´ll know more about those games and Series X´s features in detail.
I can´t wait! :)
«best lineup in history». He really learned.
I'm still not convinced. I need to see more first. I mean, I still barely use my Xbox One (last time I switched it on was about 8 months ago). For the Series X I'll wait and see. For now I have no plans to get it at launch, as I did with Xbox 360 and One.
MS definitely came along with the Adam Orth Stuff 7 years ago. Not running away and staying quiet during a controversial time. The last management never liked doing interviews, being open or anything. That dictatorship fall in line attitude is what started to sour the Xbox brand before it's reveal. If you want to do better everything needs to be changed. The philosophy of the platform or selling point. Logos, branding, catch phrase messaging or PR everything.
Policies and things that got mandated was made by the old team the old bosses. Phil was more of a place holder GM who's hands were tied (just like a new president in office). He had control over the hardware it's pricing. TV, TV, the weird NFL deal Kinect software was all done prior. When you're in charge you have to have a plan. You start making new policies and mandating new philosophy around your brand. Some of it shows in the current gen but it's full force in the new gen.
Anyway Phil has worked this hard for years now but I agree we have to see the fruits of his labor. Sony and Nintendo learned from their past mistakes, Why can't MS improve?
As much as I've seen an improvement, until Microsoft gets Japanese companies to make Xbox games, they haven't.
When the same games are coming out for Nintendo's and Sony's systems, but not Microsoft's that leaves Microsoft at a disadvantage.
So that is the one thing the Xbox brand needs, Asian games and better still a first party studio, that makes those kinds of games.
As for who I think they should get, I personally would prefer to see Microsoft make their own new company, then buy a studio. That being said if Microsoft could help Vanillaware, Cave or Treasure grow to become more well known I'd be alright with that.
