"Release" 🤣😂🤣

harmny1680d ago

Don't worry. The game will be released.

Godmars2901680d ago

Keep living the dream my friend...

Sircolby451679d ago

Not sure why you are getting the hoards of downvotes. I have been following the game very closely and playing it off and on and it has made great steps forwards. I know it may be hard to believe, but this game is going to release and when it does everyone is going to understand why it took so long. The attention to detail in this game is astounding.

BLizardXD1680d ago

and if this game turns out to be a masterpiece. you'll definitely be wanting scam citizen.

yomfweeee1680d ago

They left out the first 100 steps.

1. Collect a million dollars from suckers.
2. Collect a million dollars from suckers.
3. Collect a million dollars from suckers.
....

thatguyhayat1680d ago

Hey man they need a summer house now

Clover9041680d ago

Harmny, just wondering... how much money have you personally invested in this project?

harmny1679d ago (Edited 1679d ago )

@Clover904 $45 years ago. I am already happy with the fun I had playing the alpha.

MadLad1679d ago

They hired on a bunch of employees, separate studios, and literal star actors because it's a scam... right?

yomfweeee1679d ago

It is a scam for a couple reasons.

- Squadron 42 was supposed to come out in 2015.
- Full game was supposed to come out in 2016.

They've collected hundreds of millions of dollars and are still 4 years late.

Crowdfunding is messed up in itself. Real investment includes shares or ownership Crowdfunding is people investing without ownership. This is generally okay because companies are only asking for a small amount usually from people. Once a goal is met, that's mostly the end of it. But Star Citizen has been grossly abusing this. They just keep accepting money and more money and more money and more money and there's no final product yet.

MadLad1679d ago

Just because there have been missteps in development, that doesn't make it a scam. Nor does the fact they're still taking in money. Kickstarter is also not a scam. The deal is those who contribute are putting faith, and financial security, into a product they wish to see come to fruition. Usually with the product offered in turn. Everyone participating in that transaction is aware of that; unless you feel adults aren't capable of agency of their own decisions.
The development of the game is there. They aren't twiddling their thumbs as money pours in; money only coming in from those who actually choose to have faith in this giant project. So be a pessimist; that has no affect on me. Nor does the fact you have negative thoughts on the game; really. Just wanted to address them. As for me, I helped fund the game. I've had a lot of fun with what's on offer at the moment, and has me highly optimistic on what a finished product will offer. I can also tell you it's pushing boundaries, even years after production started. If it ends up being a 10 year development cycle, and offers even 2/3 of what was promised, it'd be two steps ahead of what will be on store shelves, and I appreciate that sort of vision.

Try to keep in mind it might be a little hard going from a kickstarter, to forming a development team, to turning that into a giant development team, and then actually delivering a product of this scale. I'll concede the first two years were rocky, but solid development has been happening since.

Deathdeliverer1680d ago

It is impossible for this game to be profitable at this point.

abstractel1680d ago

Profitable for whom? Even if they sell 2 copies it will be "profitable" for Robert Blah Industries.

rainslacker1679d ago (Edited 1679d ago )

The investment is from backers. There is no investment to pay back, so any sales are pretty much profit. They've already made more than it would take to make the average AAA game.

abstractel1679d ago

My exact point in the post above yours, yet two people disagree somehow? I get a cult vibe feeling from a lot of the backers, too many aspects resemble one (look into studies of cults if you don't believe me). They scream bloody murder with micro-transactions in games but justify paying $100 for an exclusive ship in the upcoming game and if you question them they just throw rage at you. Not sure I think Chris Roberts hit gold or some upcoming massive backlash.

Big part of the sales pitch was also that it'd be aimed at high-end PC only to make it look better than any console game, in that single aspect comparing it to Crysis, yet now we're one year away from the next-gen consoles. Are they going to upgrade all their systems and art assets to those standards and the standards of the high-end PCs at that point?

The whole thing is ridiculous. I want a current/next-gen version of Wing Commander 3 as much as anyone who loved that game back then (Squadron 42, I personally don't care about the MMO aspect) and even if it turns out to be a great game, the story of how this game was made won't be any less absurd

thesoftware7301680d ago

How is this game costing more than the huge AAA games on the market and coming?

Why dont they just realese the damn thing and add more ships and crap later as DLC?

Their way of handling this "Game" is absurd and is the reason a great deal of people think it's a scam.

porkChop1680d ago

They won't just release it because this way they can keep collecting money to "finish" the game. They keep expanding the concept and extending the dev time, and collecting millions in the process.

harmny1679d ago

Because they have 400 employees

thesoftware7301679d ago

To me, that means they should have finished a long time ago lol.

harmny1679d ago (Edited 1679d ago )

That's because you don't know how development works. 9 pregnant women can't make a baby in one month

thesoftware7301679d ago (Edited 1679d ago )

That was a Terrible anology!

If I start a big project at work and I work alone, it will take a longer duration and we plan accordingly.

When we group up and add more people to the mix, it increases productivy by a large amount.

Women having babies is biological and Human women have internal nursing clock..9 months, any sooner or later could cause complications...wait..am I really explaining biology, and the human reproduction?

Your anology was dumb..lol.

harmny1679d ago (Edited 1679d ago )

My analogy is not dumb. Its used in the industry. An industry you don't work in and I do.
If you need to make a feature. Let's say it takes 10 weeks and 5 developers are working on it. If I throw 50 developers at that feature it won't be finished in 1 week. But let me tell you. You are ready to be a producer. Lol

MadLad1679d ago

Because it literally is trying to be "everything the game". Kind of funny; I seem to remember No Man's Sky promising almost the same, coming from a small indie developer, and this site ate up everything they said because they were a Sony affiliate.

Star Citizen showcases the creation of the two brand-new animals coming to alpha 3.23

Land on any planet in Star Citizen currently and you’ll be greeted by things like weather patterns, flora, and very possibly a derelict or two. What you won’t find are any animals, however. That’s going to change with alpha 3.23’s release, as CIG has finally put together two animals to populate certain planets. That’s not quite three, but it’s more than one!

Two brand-new animals? Fantastic. This game should be ready by the time the Vault Dwellers come out from their Vaults Two Hundred years after the Apocalypse.

Any minute now...
