RDR2 was funded by the parent company of Rockstar Studios (San Diego) - Take Two interactive, and NOT the consumer, like Star Citizen.

From how I understand it apparently the team asked the community rather they wanted it sooner or if they wanted they could improve upon it adding even better features but it would come later and the community picked later.

My prediction is that they used kickstarter money only to bring it to next gen consoles and just haven't announced it yet.

So they get paid twice. Kickstarter money and multi platform money.

PC is awesome and is what you make it, literally. This game, however, will need to see a release on everything with a screen AND be a hit on all of them in order to be profitable by any margin. This is absolutely ridiculous. That’s why they had to go to Kickstarter because they clearly couldn’t give a timeline of goals. Who in their right mind would fund a game this long with ZERO signs toward it being a smash hit. Don’t get me wrong, they’ve shown some cool things, but it’s straight up comical at this point. I’d go as far as to say that it’s impossible for it to deliver the amazing total experience it aimed for. Other games are releasing all the time that have a version of a bulletpoint that star citizen has. Diminishing the wow factor little by little. After all this time that little has added up to a lot of disinterest for me. Good look devoted fans. You’re going to need it.

For the people that actually follow this development process, it's not surprising or unexpected. There are a million caveats to the Roadmap and things move around on it every month or so. As long as progress is being made, most of us don't really care about small delays.

I know it's fun to make jokes and jump on that bandwagon filled with people who don't really care about the project, but CIG supplies a ridiculous amount of content showing the work they're doing and the game has been playable for years, so I'm not concerned.
